Security Options for Business
When it comes to security people often consider the obvious electronic devices as a deterrent such as cameras. Although this is true to an extent, these claims are only accurate from certain locations, such as parking lots or public transportation. The presence of CCTV cameras has shown little to no decrease in crimes rates in most other locations.1 So, for a business, what’s the solution? Security guards have shown in 4 out of 5 studies across multiple countries that a much lower rate in property crime can result with a security guard present.
When are security guards needed?
This is a terrific question that cannot be addressed with just one answer. The best and also most resented answer is probably the best, “Whenever the need is there”. This does not mean place a security guard on call and summon him as needed. This simply means that when looking at the time in which your business or neighborhood tends to suffer the most crime or violations, is the time in which you should have a guard on duty.
How many guards at one time?
Again this is situation dependent. If you are in a particularly volatile area then perhaps two to three guards on duty at once is the way to go. Or, equally, if the area you are attempting to secure is large, then perhaps more coverage is a great idea.  But like stated, knowing your need is critical when analyzing your security coverage.
At the end of the day it is best to get security consultation for your particular needs to be met accurately. Although it seems counterproductive, if you are uncertain about the consulting services rendered by a certain security firm, it is not ill advised to get a second opinion.
