He gave a bit of nervous laughter as he fiddled with the cupcake he still held before giving a gulp before reaching up to swipe it away with his own finger, tapping some delicately on her nose with a smirk before licking the rest of it away. "How's that?"

She smirked, sticking out her tongue at him before swiping the icing off her nose and licking the rest of it up. She glanced down at her own cupcake, lifting it to her lips for a small bite.

“These really did turn out good,” she said as she licked some frosting off her lips.

Connor stumbled back and nearly fell as the body collided with him, and he felt himself begin to shake, his hands clenching in to fists as defensive anger rose up in him... only then to notice the girl picking up books in front of him. It hadn't been on purpose... had it? He wasn't sure. He swallowed hard, and after a moment of thought, adjusted his messenger bag and knelt down to help pick up the books. At least she had apologized. Most people wouldn't have. He gave a little huff of laughter and looked around as he helped collect her armful of books. "There are a lot of people," he said in a strange, uncharacteristically soft voice. People were staring. He could feel the hair on the back of his neck stand up and hated it. He blushed, too, now, and decided it was best to leave the situation as quickly as possible, only to freeze when he really looked at the girl, even though he couldn't see her face. He gulped and blushed darker, mouth hanging open slightly for a moment before he managed to clamp it shut and duck his eyes, holding the books out to her. "Here you go."

Linda’s eyes flicked up as the boy repeated her statement. She could see him reddening as he picked up her books, quickly looking back down at the floor when it looked like he was about to look at her.

“Thank you,” she said, gently taking the books from him. Her fingers softly brushed against his as she took the books, feeling the warmth under his skin. Was she as red as he was? She felt warm but she was sure it was only from walking into a complete stranger on her first day in a real school and not from the contact with the boy or even the people watching them around her. She knew they were, she could feel their eyes on her the way they always seemed to when she went out in public.

"Well, this place is definitely different," Lilia agreed wryly, privately wondering if this might be the one place where the gaps and flashes would be seen less as 'kooky' and more as just par for the course for Oz.

Glinda nodded in acknowledgement of the statement. She still wished she knew how she had arrived in Oz but it seemed that would remain a mystery for now.

“Tell me about where you’re from,” she said abruptly as the thought hit her. She didn’t get to speak much last time they’d had a visitor about their world of origin and she wanted to know as much as possible about what lay beyond the desert.

Lilia gave a nod of approval, a smile pulling at the corner of her lips.

"Cute," she observed. "A lot nicer than the last broom I was given." At least this one had some actual effort put into it.

Grabbing a large piece of wood suitable for flying, Lilia used the things she could find around them-- some mushrooms and ferns, a few of the pink flowers-- to decorate the piece by hand, giving the creation a small nod of confirmation when she was officially done.

"Now. we exchange them, and say 'Pro te, dilecta, aperio viam'" Lilia instructed. "Loosely translated, it means 'for you, beloved, I open the way'. Like I said; witches fly together or we don't fly at all."

Linda smiled at the comment approval at her work. She watched as Lilia found a piece of wood, decorating it with the nature around them and waiting only semi-patiently. She knew flying would come soon and she was excited to try it.

“Pro te, dilecta, aperio viam,” she recited, holding out the broom. “I love that flying is some kind of communal practice,” she commented.
