Two days ago the news of Tim Kruger’s sudden death was released. His partner in life and on the set talked about a domestic accident to dispel speculation and any possible conjectures from the beginning. Digging around the web for information, I read about a bad fall in the bathtub. The exact details of this important accident will never be told to us. Seems that even the porn industry manages to have a semblance of modesty towards pain, which doesn’t happen in other areas of socially accepted communication.
I interviewed Tim for Toh! Magazine in 2013 and I will always be thankful for that safe space. Reading it again makes me almost ashamed, but how sweet.
Tim was not yet the international porn star that he later became, but in my eyes he was already (and will always remain) the incarnation of a recurring fantasy: wanting to be a sex god, but with the sweetest eyes. In our (certainly in my) erotic imagination, already destroyed by the automatisms of the apps, his death erases something very precise: the possible dream of a completely free life, to be spent naked on the terrace having sex against the ugliness of the world out there. Yes, I believe his death makes us less free to dream. And I find it extremely sad that the only porn actor in my opinion capable of nourishing desire without making us visualize that death drive intimately inherent in sex is, in fact, dead.
