Protests in Beirut in solidarity with Palestine
I am very proudly Maronite Catholic and supporting the Palestinian cause does not oppose my identity or who I am. Solidarity is a virtue that I am proud to hold. Human rights before nationalism always, inside Lebanon, in Palestine, and all over the world.

Inside the Puy du Connétable (trans. Qual`at al mseilha), a fortification on a long, narrow limestone rock near the Nahr el-Jawz river, built by emir Fakhr ed-Dine II in the 17th century to guard the route from Tripoli to Beirut.
Original photograph by Alissar Abi Khaled.
“Is not religion not all deeds and all reflection? And that which is neither deed nor reflection, but a wonder and a surprise ever springing from the soul, even while the hands hew the stone or tend the loom? Who can separate his faith from his actions, or his belief from his occupations? Who can spread his hours before him, saying, ‘This for God and this for myself; This for my soul, and this other for my body?”
— Khalil Gibran, “The Prophet”
LEBANON. 1984. Maronite church near Jounieh. Eli Reed
I don’t understand how peace is expected to come from Palestinians. What do you want them to do for peace? Move out of their homes for settlers? You want them to sit and watch as their heritage and history is being stripped away? How are Palestinians expected to give peace when they have nothing to give but their physical home? I just don’t understand. To not side with Palestinians you either have to ignorant or you have to be full of hate. I don’t understand anything. I don’t understand how people are able to live normal lives and not feel guilty as they dehumanize others. It is free Palestine always.

This is only a fraction of the issues the world is facing. This is not to say that Muslim’s are only facing hardship, I am simply trying to raise awareness about these specific countries. This post doesn’t cover all of it. Our brothers and sisters in Syria, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Albania, Kurdistan and so many more are still suffering. These are beautiful countries that are masked by war and famine.
All I hope from each of you is that you learn something new each day. If you’re reading this right now it is likely you come from a place of privilege. Use that privilege to educate yourself and stay informed on the issues this world is facing today.
Awareness is necessary but calling these countries “Muslim” erases the indigenous minority religions that have a claim to the land.
searched lebanon on here to find pretty pictures but instead all that showed was posts from the explosion and reminders of the economic crisis... sad
