Broke: only the first half of death note is good, after L's death the story becomes bad. Also I don't like Near :/
Woke: people's bias towards L and lawlight prevents them from forming an objective opinion on the second half of the story. It's good in it's own way and has quite a few interesting plotlines and characters. Also the anime doesn't do it justice

HUH, surprising propaganda for circumcision:
I headcanon Near as half-white (Dutch) and half-Korean and there was apparently a HUGE spike of circumcisions in the 90s in Korea. Like the rate was over 80% and then peaked past 90% in the 2000s.
Also for reference: it's canon that Watari had opened orphanages all over the world and that all of the children at Wammy's are "highly brilliant". So I don't think most of the kids at Wammy's are from England, but were funneled there from other orphanages if they showed high intelligence and other special skills.

I see him as some form of European or euro descent but not American, and I think circumcision is not very widely practiced outside the USA and certain cultural groups? Tldr, uncircumcised but not necessarily British by birth.

we’re pleased to finally release the full list of prompts for meronia week 2026! today, june 17, marks the beginning of a two-month countdown to the event in august, time which participants may use to prepare their submissions in advance if they so choose.
this year, in lieu of the the bingo board format, we are using a list of prompts split into three categories. there is no way to “win” the event this year, per se, but participants will earn achievements for using certain numbers or combinations of prompts. for example, one achievement might be earned by using all the prompts in one category; another might be awarded to the participant who combines prompts from all three categories in one submission.
(at a later date, we will release a partial list of the achievements possible; there will still be several secret achievements that can only be discovered by accidentally reaching them ✨)

i wanted to make a point about the fact that if we ship soichello we should also consider mello/the literal U.S. president for mere fun, but i was looking through the online manga scans and i have noticed that at some point mello says "you didn't get to be president by luck". VERY sad, because i grew up with the official italian translation that says "non sarai mica diventato presidente per la tua bella faccia, no?" which translates to "you didn't get to become president thanks to your pretty face, did you?". italian mello doesn't hesitate
