A book whizzed past him then and he didn’t bat an eye. It landed gracefully on a shelf, set according to colors. He stood over her, cracking his knuckles briefly before looking towards the section she was in originally.

“Something specific I need to find? Our rarer volumes are kept under lock and key, as we do not want them to get damaged.”

“Your purpose will come. It took me almost a thousand years to find mine, after my entire world was destroyed. My family, my nation, my libraries, my lover- all torn from me,” he said, sitting all the way up. “For centuries, I wandered the sands with nothing but anguish. I let myself suffer, wandering all I knew until one day, I did not. I got lost. I found a new path. I found a purpose. Purpose and home are not the same thing. They can be similar, but are almost always separate.”

Words could only mean so much. So, he sat cross-legged, patting the spot on his thighs.

It wasn’t going to be perfect, but perhaps it would give her perspective. It might help to see that her struggle- this idea that she was broken and not repairable- was not uncommon. Nobody was perfect, only uniquely themselves.

She held back her tears, sighing as she stood up. She slowly dust herself off, lending out a hand for Nasus.

She knew that whatever he might show her could change her perspective, but she was desperate to find a reason to continue living. Right now, she felt like a wondering spirit, lost without any direction. If Nasus has been in her shoes, he would surely have some advice.

“The difference between you and me is, I don’t have eternity.”
