Now granted Brendan isn't that much bigger than Lou, but if you've ever had a toddler full tilt at you, you understand that it's about density.

Does the strength come from the power of northern spite or workouts he refuses to tell us about?

We'll never really know but people need to stop acting like that man is not strong as HELL and perfectly capable of carrying around his wife whenever she wants.

This goes back to my rant about people expecting certain things from the boys…. Like do people expect them to act like people that they’re not? Why do people expect them to release certain things like albums? Y’all know that they’re entitled to an actual break? Especially with how overworked they were while they were in the band.

This is a cruel industry that is doing this to them. This is a cruel, vile industry that has done whatever they can for the 15 to closet two men in a gay relationship. And part of that is the power and afraid to let higher ups in the industry down. That’s why I think Louis made the comments about him staying with Syco. Because first of all. He wanted to protect the other boys and not let the other boys be apart of Syco/Modest.

Second of all I think Syco/Modest/S*mon had the most power of Louis. Because of the contract they made him sign in 2011. That was probably a way stricter contract than any of the thee boys. And as I said part of the reason why Louis stayed with Syco/Modest/Simon, part of the reason why he signed the contract. Is because he was the oldest the band. He wanted to protect the other boys. And he feels guilty letting other people down because of the power trap he’s been in for YEARS. And he feels like if he lets the higher ups down worse punishments are going to happen.

So Louis has found a way to work around that all. Disobeying higher ups, while at the same time staying under control of horrible people. And in a lot of ways Harry has too with the Azoffs. They’re both afraid to let others down because. Louis just handles it better because he was 18 when he entered the industry. Harry was 16. So Louis has a bit more experience with it as well.

I would like to preface this by saying that this is MY interpretation. Nobody has to agree with me. I just noticed a theme, and while the song seems really upbeat, it’s reminiscent of anger, defeat, and hope.

Verse 1:

“She got me wasted, the way she's making me lie.”

This could be taken quite literally. Zara (and other stunts/the industry) are making him lie about his sexuality. Maybe he’s self-medicating because of that. Or, it could mean that he’s generally disillusioned/numb (as one would be while intoxicated)

“Hung from her bracelet, her lucky charm if I like.”

Zara has a “L” necklace. We all know she’s getting good PR from him, therefore, it’s her lucky charm as long as he continues to stay quiet.

“Symptoms of coming to life, no point in thinking it twice.”

To me, this sounds like he’s accepting how he feels as a symptom of being ready to come out (“come to life”) and there isn’t a point in dwelling because that’s how it has to be.

“She got me wasted, the way I'm chasing the night”

Similar to the first lyric, except maybe “chasing the night” is chasing freedom.

Pre-chorus:

“I don't wanna go home”

He doesn’t want to return to his curated image. He’s uncomfortable with the official narrative about his sexuality.

“Am I losing control?”

He’s fed up and questioning his ability to continue being closeted.

“I don't wanna go home” (x2)

He’s driving in the point that he hates his current situation and wants out.

Chorus:

“She's so bitter, she's so sweet”

Stunts are nice because they keep him and his career safe, but they’re also bitter because they hide his true identity from the world and help keep him closeted.

“Lemonade, lemonade”

His situation is a mix of bitter and sweet because he gets to publicly share his music (doing what he loves) but not himself: lemonade.

“A little taste is all I need”

He needs just a taste of freedom—someone to loosen the reigns before he breaks.

Verse 2:

“She got me waking at times that I've never seen.”

He’s having to work really hard to publicly stunt with her and create the lie. It’s not natural.

“Bright yellow spaceship might make me start to believe”

This could be taken two ways. Harry has been seen wearing rocket ship shirts before. Maybe he’s saying Harry is convincing him that coming out is a possibility.

Or

He’s hoping for a sign to believe that better things are to come. But space ships are rare sightings. He has to wait for the right moment.

“Symptoms are stuck on repeat, no point in trying to leave.”

This line feels like defeat right after an inkling of hope. He’s experiencing doubt. He feels the walls closing in on him. He’s never going to get out, so there’s no point in trying to.

“She got me waking, it's doing something to me”

Maybe the situation with Zara has woken him up to the buried desperation he feels to break away from the chains of the closet. This has been his most controversial stunt, and people are assuming terrible things about him. It would make sense that this would urge him even more.

Bridge:

“Is it only human to escape into delusion?”

He’s trying to justify imagining a world where he could freely love whomever he wants without consequences.

“And if I should try to prove it, would I win or would I lose it?”

for anyone who doesn’t want to open the link, here’s the rundown: the anon who sent it in was a channing tatum fan, and they basically explained how zoë has this pattern when it comes to her relationships. with channing, things started when she wrote him a role specifically for a project. suddenly they were flirting nonstop, there was a heavily publicized italy trip where they were seen being extremely intimate in public, and then everything fizzled almost immediately after the film’s release. the kicker is that during the premiere, zoë was seen flirting and kissing austin butler—with channing literally right there—and a couple months later she and channing were done. the anon wasn’t even saying it was fake or real, just that her relationships tend to be highly visible, carefully timed, and aligned with whatever promotional cycle is happening.

and that right there is why it makes sense she’s the one harry is “with” right now. because think about it: harry is the exact opposite when it comes to his personal life. he’s careful, selective, and private. he’s spent years building an image of controlling what people see of him. so when we suddenly get pap walks and handholding shots that are suspiciously timed, the first instinct is: this is not harry’s choice. this is the kind of thing you do when you’re playing a role, when privacy has to be sacrificed in order to sell a narrative.

and that narrative? the womanizer image. the same one that’s been stapled to harry since he was a teenager. no matter how many times he’s shown himself to be more nuanced, more reserved, more layered than that, the industry refuses to let it die. so what better way to hammer it home than to pair him with someone who has already built a reputation for very public relationships? it’s not even about zoë personally, it’s about the function she serves in the bigger picture.

the part that really gives it away, though, is the timing. harry has been photographed for months now—walking around alone, hanging with friends, riding his damn lime bike—completely unbothered and unaccompanied. no big narratives, no orchestrated build-up. and then suddenly, out of nowhere, it’s him and zoë. one day nothing, the next day papped together multiple times, walking hand in hand only when the cameras are pointed at them. no transition, no soft launch, just an abrupt rollout. and if you’ve been watching these things long enough, you know that doesn’t happen by accident.

and it’s even more glaring when you put it side by side with louis and zara. their stunt has been floundering hard—zara’s documentary is getting slammed, her reputation is shaky, and instead of helping louis, the entire thing has just been pulling focus onto her. so is it really so impossible to think that harry and zoë are being pushed harder as a kind of damage control? like, “look over here at harry and his new romance” while the zara situation quietly implodes in the background? if anything, it almost feels like overcompensation.

and that’s what makes it so frustrating but also so obvious. the coincidences are too neat. the patterns are too familiar. we’ve seen this cycle play out over and over again, with different names and slightly different packaging, but always the same endgame. it’s designed to keep harry in a certain box and to control how the public perceives him. and it’s almost insulting to the audience’s intelligence, because it’s the exact same playbook they’ve been using for years.

so yeah, maybe to casual fans it looks like just another celebrity romance. but to anyone paying attention, it’s a glaring reminder of how calculated these things are. and honestly, it circles back to what harry himself said. “everything you see is work.” people love to quote that line when it’s convenient, but rarely apply it in moments like this.

At the risk of sounding moldy and insane, I will say that, in all my years of living, I have never–

–accidentally happened to get multiple sets of complementary tattoos with my ‘best mate’ who I’m constantly rumoured to be in a relationship with.

–gone to an Ed Sheeran concert in Manchester with my best mate and, years later, written a romantic song that said “we saw Ed in Manchester, I held you while he played; every time I hear his songs, it takes me to that place.”

–dressed up as a character from my best mate’s favourite movie – a character he played in school; a role he loved so much he still has the jacket from it – while singing his favourite song from the same movie that says “hopelessly devoted to you.”

–written a song with the lyrics “when I’m with you, I’m so much happier; nights like this, we’ll remember those songs we wrote." when none of my girlfriends were songwriters, but my best mate is a damn good one.

–had to hide the fact that I live with said best mate, and had to make up a very inconsistent story about sleeping in attics and friends’ couches. while still slipping up and trying to shade it.

–posted a picture for my best mate’s birthday where I’m jumping out of a cake, naked, as a surprise for him.

–bitten bruising love bites into said friend’s neck from behind (very platonically)

–spoken about “meeting the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with” at 18, when I only met my long term girlfriend a few months shy of turning 20. guess who I met at 18

–ALWAYS looked at my best mate like the sun shines out of his ass

–been obsessed with things that have the same name as my best mate. like, really obsessed.

–just happened to share clothes with my old band mate/best mate with whom I haven’t been seen publicly in years, who still denies those relationship rumours like clockwork.

–referenced said bandmate in multiple songs while still keeping a cover of plausible deniability, because the last time I made it obvious, I had to lie, and stuttered so badly it became a joke.

–liked a romantic reel about the way my ‘best mate’ looked at me (10 years ago) with the audio “if the world was ending, I’d wanna be next to you.” then wore a ‘hopeless romantic’ shirt the next day in a place where said best mate was flaunting his legs in gay ass shorts.
