thundering down the stairs, nolan turned through the lobby patting his pockets to make sure he had either his wallet or his phone on him. he had neither. pausing to open his mailbox, he slid his hand along the top for the back up debit card that he kept in there in the many instances that he left his wallet back in the apartment. “you’re all good. you gotta start somewhere right?” he peered down to the few listings she had circled. “uh, if you’re not picky i’m pretty sure the coffee shop that i’m headed to is hiring. and i think some of the shops on 6th are hiring but i don’t really remember where it was for. do you know what you want to do?”

the brunette just nodded her head agreeing with the older male as she continued to highlight the help needed ad. ophelia pressed her lips together thinking about the coffee shop for a moment, but was quickly caught off guard by the question hesitating a little before answering “ i, uh, i don’t know what i want to do, ” she said leaning her head back against the wall “i just need something with a solid income, something that will pay the bills.”

D A Y S were almost always dealable when xara came into the abbey & easily found someone to hang around, even if it had to be ophelia. “ could probably swing you an interview where i work, but unless you like having your tits stared at until they fall off, i don’t think you’ll like it. ” they sat down next to ophelia, plopping their fast food bag between the two, & popped a fry into their mouth before offering one over. “ don’t think you’ll have much luck. criminals-r-us isn’t hiring until summer. ”

“ neither. is there any particular reason you’re grilling me on this ? i don’t even know you. “

“ obviously it was something, so why don’t you care to share ? no, not really it’s just a hobby of mine and trust me honey you don’t want to know me. ”

“ i was distracted. you forget things when you’re distracted. “

“ you were distracted for ten minutes, are you like a cat getting distracted by the bright lights in the elevator or was it the reflection in the mirror that got your attention ? ”

“ i just spent ten minutes in the elevator thinking i was stuck. turns out that i forgot to press the button for the floor i wanted, and that’s why the elevator wasn’t moving. there i was, thinking i was going to die, and literally all i had to do was press a button. “
