These divas 🪩✨
One of the unfortunate things about collecting certain Star Wars characters like Oola is that the fan-made content can be a little “strange.”
I understand falling in love with a character because they’re attractive or beautiful, but whenever I see 3D sculpts or artwork that focus on exaggerating Oola’s body rather than Femi Taylor’s face, I get a little sad. She created the character pretty much from scratch, and I’d love to see more artwork that
Focuses on her face
Draws the outfit accurately
Depicts her proportions accurately
Omits the chain that was used to kill her
Maybe I’m just being too weird, but it’s why I love Christina Chung’s painting of her, Oola Unchained, in that it respects and reframes her. I’m also a fan of Linda Medley’s trading card art of her because of how happy, playful and in-control she looks — she’s clearly enjoying her talents, and to me, that’s important.
HUGE DISCLAIMER: These are NOT my original artworks. These are officially licensed artworks made by Christina Chung and Linda Medley, respectively.
Here’s the back of the second card, also taken from AGS Collector’s sold-out listing.
Basically - I would love to see more Oola content that avoids fetishizing her and instead paints her as an actual person. So much of the Star Wars franchise forgets to go past that surface level, and I love to see when fans and official expanded lore do just that!
Sitting here crying over Oola (the green Twi’Lek who got thrown down the Rancor pit) because she was tricked, exploited, and murdered for standing up for herself after having her hopes and dreams weaponized against her.
Also crying because Leia takes the exact items used to demean her - an outfit made to objectify and exploit her, just like Oola was - and she uses it to kill her captor and by extension, Oola’s murderer.
Leia doesn’t necessarily know it, but she inadvertently brought justice to all the women Jabba had abused and murdered, and from Jabba’s perspective, the very thing he objectified, exploited, degraded, treated as disposable, underestimated, and dismissed ended up being what was used to kill him, both symbolically and literally.
We love to see it.

Welcome, Star Wars fans!
Welcome to the Oola-La-Blog, my latest niche character blog dedicated to the character of Oola, originally portrayed by Femi Taylor! This blog will be dedicated to all things Oola, and is an off-shoot of my previous Star Wars related blog, @larsfamilybbq.
I've loved Oola since I was a little kid, and have really grown to sympathize with her character a lot as an adult, which is why I've decided to create this little corner of the internet just for her in hopes of doing her character some justice. Stay tuned, and may the Force be with you always!
