âYou and the girl really think you can get away from me that easily and run off to Vivian Petrov, mm? Youâre both fucking braindead. Especially you. Anja followed you here, sheâs going to die because of you. All because you wanted some stupid mirror. Some brother you are. Caring more about an object than your sisters life. Stupid bird.â { @hhopeless-romvnticc - Pierre }

Finn couldnât form the words he wanted to say, his cowering form hiding in the corner of the dirty cell. A corner he was far too familiar with, one that he had spent most of his life trembling in while doing everything he could to protect his sister. But now, he was alone and afraid with no one to help him.Â
He had already accepted he was going to die but that did not mean he couldnât be afraid of death. All Finn wanted right now was his sister and his mirror; he wanted to see Anja smile and laugh and dance around like she always did, to see her feathers ruffling and glimmering in the sunlight. To hear her singing to the animals and whispering to the sun, he just wanted his sister.
Pressing further into the corner, Finn pulled his wing closer to him and hid his tears, sniffling and twitching while trying to ignore Pierreâs harsh words that dug into his heart. He knew the demon had his mirror in his pocket but Finn knew better than to try and get it, Anja would tell him not to.Â
â Finn does not listen to you! Finn was right about you, smelly man! Finn not stupid, Finn not just bird! Anja not like you, Anja strong and smart! She get you, she bite you! Crunch on your skin! âÂ
Pierre sickly smiled at the way the boy cowered in the corner, tears pouring down his cheeks and his voice shaking when he spoke. He hadnât even made a move to try to hurt Pierre and escape. He wasnât so brave now, was he?
He crouched down in front of the boy with a sharp toothed grin and reached out to touch the feathers on Finnâs shoulder, looking at them for a moment before taking a handful of them and ripping them out of his skin, his shoulder immediately starting to bleed.
âYouâre not? Mm, I beg to differ. Ah, Iâm sorry, youâre right. Youâre not just a bird. Youâre a dirty, disgusting hybrid. A lab rat. A failed fucking experiment. No wonder why Vladimir abandoned you two down here, what an embarrassment. You shouldnât fucking exist, in fact, I think what Iâm going to do is a kindness to you two. Put you both out of your misery. You should be thanking me. Oh Finn, she wonât get anywhere near me. Not that sheâd touch me if she did, she terrified of me, just like you, Youâre both cowards.â
â Smelly evil man not scare Finn! Finn brave like his sister, Finn and Anja pretty birds! Many people say so, Miss Taygete says we are the prettiest birds and she say you are just a smelly man! Finn not thank you, not ever! Finn only thank Anja when she come kill you! And if Anja not kill you, Miss Taygete kill you for hurting her birds! â
Watching the way Pierre moved toward him, the boy began to panic and attempted to kick his legs out but the fear had overtaken him. There were too many emotions gnawing at his heart for him to muster up any courage to save himself, his clawed feet hitting Pierreâs chest almost pathetically.
Anja would be disappointed in him for being such a coward, he knew she would be but he was so scared, so alone and afraid to do much other than bare his fangs and hiss. Although it came out as more of a terrified whimper, like a kitten caught between two feral dogs. Finn tried to bat the hands of the demon away from him but soon felt the agonising pain of his feathers being ripped right from his skin, the blood pouring out of the wound like water in a stream and pooling on the floor. All he could do was screech, clutching onto his shoulder as he wailed like a child and shuffled as far away as possible. He turned to yelling for Anja, screaming her name into the air and listening to it echo in the dungeons.Â
No one answered him.
â Stop hurting me! You canât take them from Finn! Give them back, Finn needs them! Canât take Finnâs feathers, keep me warm! Give! â
âYour cowering tells me otherwise. Taygete and Anja can try to kill me, but they wonât, trust me. Oh shut up, stop wailing. You wonât need your feathers anymore, idiot boy. Now hold still, stop fucking moving.â
Pierre continued to rip feathers out of Finnâs skin, huffing and rolling his eyes when the boy didnât stop wailing and screaming for his sister, punching him hard to shut him up.
Anjaâs feathered ears twitched when she heard incredibly faint screams coming from the other side of the dungeons. It was so faint she couldnât tell who it was, but she had a gut feeling it was her brother. She could always tell when he was in trouble.
âFinn!? Anja can hear you! She will help, is okay!â
She quickly got up off of the dirty dungeon floor and went back over to the cell door that was covered in claw marks due to her trying to break free and went back to trying to open it, pulling on it hard. She almost gave up until she heard a creak come from the old metal door, showing it was starting to give way and she pulled harder and harder, the faint screams still echoing through the dungeons.
â Anja will! Anja not like it when people hurt her brother! She hurt you real good, smelly man! Get away from Finn, canât touch his feathers! Leave Finn alone! â
Finn whimpered when Pierreâs first made contact with his face, twisting it to the side and causing a faint burning sensation on the side of his jaw. It would bruise soon and Finn hated bruises, they made him look ugly.Â
The birdâs quick thinking kicked in and he curled the claws of his feet, lashing out again with as much strength as he could muster. His curled talons hooked into the skin of Pierreâs chest and he quickly tugged down, ripping the skin and forcing the deep red blood from his body. The action gave him enough time to scramble up from the floor and dash toward the rusty cell door, grabbing onto the bars and tugging hard.
His ears twitched at the distant yelling in the dungeons, feathers ruffling and his tail swooshed up from the ground to wrap around his trembling frame. He could hardly make out what the voice was saying or where it was coming from, but, he was certain of one thing, he knew Anjaâs voice and it was her, screaming out for him and he had to get to her. Finn ignored the way Pierre groaned behind him and tried hard to pull the door open, scratching at the metal and returning the call to his sister.
â Anja, come quick! Finn is here! He take my feathers, take them away from me! Help Anja! â
Pierre just rolled his eyes at the boy as he spoke, going to grab him again but cursing loudly when Finnâs claws cut deep into his skin. His scaled hand immediately flew to his chest, hissing in pain when he felt the wounds sting but shook his head and got up, glaring over at Finn before going straight for him, grabbing him by his wing and throwing him across the cell, the birdâs skin becoming scraped and bruised. He made his way over to him, shaking with anger, ready to beat the boy to death for wounding him.
Anja pulled harder on the bars of the door when she heard her brother calling out to her, causing a bar to literally snap off and for her to stumble back, eyes wide. She didnât think she was that strong. She sat the bar to the side and kept pulling at the door, eventually breaking the hinges and making the door fall off completely, quickly jumping back before it could land on her though.
âAnja is coming, Finn!â
She quickly grabbed the torn off bar from the ground and left the cell, running as fast as she could and following the sound of her brothers voice to find him.
Finn cried out when he felt the sensitive feathers of his wings being tugged on far too aggressively for him to handle. His already injured body made contact with the cold, wet stone of the cell wall as he was thrown across the room and he felt something in him snap, causing him to fall limply to the floor. Curling up into a ball, he covered his body as best as he could and screwed his eyes shut.Â
He put all the strength he could muster into his abilities and he soon felt his skin begin to prickle, going almost numb and the colour drained from his frame. If Pierre was to touch him with his bare hands, it would burn through him and sting as though he had just stuck his hand into a patch of nettles. Finn wasnât sure if it would do anything, but unless Anja found him soon, it was one of the only things he could do to try and save his life.
â Stay away! No more hurting, enough enough! Anja coming now, she stop you! She bite you! â
Pierre went to grab the boy by the arm only to quickly pull his hand away the moment it touched the boyâs skin, glaring down at the boy before deciding to just kick him, laughing when the boy cried out in pain.
âCanât protect yourself that well, can you?â
Anja glanced in every cell she passed as she ran, finding them either empty or filled with badly beaten and starved people, but not her brother. She almost ran straight past the cell him and Pierre were in but skidded to a halt, grabbing onto the bars of the cell door and shaking the door hard.
âFinn! Finn, get keys! On his belt! Grab them, throw them to Anja! Quick! Let Finn go, Pierre! Dirty man! Disgusting, dirty liar! You lied to Anja! Let him go, let him go now!â
The tight hold Finn had on his body gave him little protection from the force of Pierreâs dress shoe kicking into his stomach. He kicked him with such aggressive that it forced a ragged cough from him, blood and bile spilling from his throat and onto the cold floor of the cell. Finn quickly decided he was going to die here and that was when he finally started to wail, sobbing loud into the ground as he begged Pierre to stop.
However, the blurry figure of Anja appearing at the door made him move faster than he ever had. It was as if even the thought of her had jumpstarted him into moving. Finn was fast and sly, so jumping up from the ground and slipping underneath Pierre was no difficult task for him despite the blood that simply leaked from every part of his body. His nimble fingers unhooked the ring of keys from the demonâs belt with ease and he slid them along the floor, watching them come to a stop at Anjaâs feet.
â Anja be quick and careful! Finn protect you! â
Pierre didnât even have a second to react when he heard Anjaâs voice and felt Finn snatch the keys from him belt. Looking between the two, he growled and kicked Finn as hard as he could, shouting a string of insults at the boy as his sister unlocked the door and threw it open.
Anja ran straight over to Pierre with the metal bar in hand and hit him as hard as she could with it to get him to stop hurting Finn.
âYou donât touch Finn! Horrible man! Anja knows all about what Pierre done to Taygete, Pierre is a monster! Anja knows you were trying to lure her in, make her hate Finn! Pierre is the stupid one! Anja loves her brother, no one loves Pierre!â
Pierre quickly turned around and hit Anja hard, shoving her back and making her fall. She yelped, but quickly got back up and ran over to him, jumping on his back as he turned back towards Finn and sank her teeth into his shoulder and clawed at it, slicing right through his skin and muscle, making him scream in pain and fall to his knees.
As soon the cell door was open, Finn followed up his sisterâs attack and the two moved together like puzzle pieces. He always knew her next move and she knew his, it was impossible to win a fight against Finn when he had his sister.
When Pierreâs hand met Anjaâs face, he hissed in anger and launched himself at the demon, his claws thick and pointed as the hooked into his face and latched into the skin. He had a hold on Pierre like a cat that was playing with its pray and Finn knew what Anja was about to do, he could see the veins in her body pulsing and filling with that familiar green colour that shined through her skin.Â
Swinging himself round, he brought Pierre with him so his back was easily accessible to Anja and he watched in faint pride as his sister threw herself up there with ease. Soon, Pierreâs arm fell from the shoulder and deep, thick blood poured from the wound as the man screamed. As much as Finn would have loved to watch him wail on the floor, his quick thinking quicked in again and he hopped over the demon, grabbing his sisters hand and tugging her out of the cell and down the dark corridors of the dungeons.
â Anja and Finn leave! Time to go home! â
Anja clawed and chewed right through Pierreâs flesh and thick muscle, clinging onto him tight as her tried his best to throw her off and ultimately failing to. Her claws were dug too deep into him. She leaned back a little and spat out a mouthful of meat and blood once sheâd made it all the way down to the bone, then sharply twisted his arm and snapped it straight off, throwing it to the ground and jumping off of the man, shoving him to the ground in the process.
She stared down at him as he screamed, panting with blood dripping all down her front, snapping back to reality when she felt her brother grab her hand and looking up at him for a moment before nodding.
âOkay. Pierre, donât ever come near Finn or Anja again! Anja will kill you dead! Do you hear Anja?! Dead! Okay, letâs go. Finn, Anja get you home now...â
The girl grabbed the keys and slammed the cell door shut behind them both, locking Pierre inside before running down the corridors with her brother, ignoring the screams coming from the cell they ran from.
âGot to be quick, got to be brave. Guards will see Finn and Anja, we canât let them catch us! Home isnât far, we can make it.â
