The Royal Romance series is the most overrated.

Not a fan of Desire and Decorum. It was mostly a diamond mine for me. Beautiful mcs though.

I thought Red Carpet Diaries Book 1 was great. The rest not so much.

Perfect Match Book 1 was good. The second book made me lose interest.

Queen B was just ok to me. Being a standalone would have been fine.

Distant Shores was forgettable.

NB literally sucked ass so hard they tried to romantically rebrand it to get more players invested in their (white) main LI and failed. It was only the potential of an epilogue that made fans—and apparently PB—forget how terrible it was enough that they wanted/expected a sequel.

And you’re not gonna convince me TE didn’t have a market that they failed to attract due to, you guessed it, their investment in their default white main LI. It still remains the most extreme single-minded devotion to one character out of anything they’ve ever done. And you have to remember that when it is a weekly release, we are talking a month of solely Beckett (not counting Aster’s diamond scenes at the end of it all for reasons I think should be obvious). Doubling down on this strategy for TE2 clearly didn’t work, since it contributed to the same narrative flaws and ultimately got the series canceled.

I know they need to make money and blah blah blah, but they also need to...idk, make good content? They quite clearly seem to have an expectation that players will invest in shit *cough cough TRH* no matter how much it stinks, but nostalgia can’t carry a brand new series.

@playchoices if you want players to invest in your content, how about you try making it better? I’ll even give y’all some tips.

First off, probably need to hire some more queer writers of color so you can avoid the racist/homophobic tropes that litter your stories.

Secondly, your model of pandering to your white cishet female audience by devoting all your efforts to the white male LI from the very jump seems to pretty obviously not be a consistently successful strategy. In fact, it’s a direct contributor to my first point.

And third, take some freaking accountability. Y’all need to start questioning the decisions on your part that lead to a book’s failure/success, because it ain’t all on us and never will be.
