On today her second birthday I share with you The Many Faces of Stella. Enjoy!

As Stella's 2nd birthday approaches we made the mistake of asking her what she really wants......She wants "a little baby doggy". Now we are not equipped for said puppy and our cat is still mad at us for replacing him with a child, yet my heart breaks every time she utters in her little voice "daddy, Stella have a puppy??" I thought I was so smart and told her that Ozzie, our cat, would be very sad if we got a dog. But she is smarter then I and countered back with "No Daddy, see Ozzie soooo happy! Ozzie loves doggies". She is obsessed with dogs. She wants to hug them and kiss them and love them forever!! The other day we took her into the pet store and ran into a Teacup Poodle, conveniently also named Stella, and that was it. The deal was struck. So here we are faced with a quickly approaching birthday with no wrapped up cardboard box with air holes which barks. Let's hope she doesn't remember her second b-day and the year she didn't get her puppy. 

This is what happens when mommy falls asleep and daddy comes up with the activities. As you can see she is having a horrible time and not loving every second of this. haha.

I love these moments. The moments when all goes silent and you forget that just seconds before there was pure two year old chaos. Then when you peak around the corner you find your kid doing something ridiculously cute. I've found Stella reading to herself, kissing pictures of babies in books and wrapping all her toys in tea towels. This time she climbed into her 2x2 foot toy bin and was just playing by herself. These little independent glimpses into her life are simultaneously amazing and heart-wrenching.....I just hope that when she is all grown up and doing her own thing that she will still sometimes need her daddy.

Stella trying to work on her smile. I think we need a little more practice. She is starting to become more and more aware of the camera and now stops to pose. She is pretty used to getting her photo taken as the child of two photographers. She started this whole smiling thing on her own and I just went with it. After every photo she got up and made me show her then went back to her seat and instructed me to take another. She is already editing and re-doing pictures of herself. She kills me.

A friend just introduced me to this doc titled "The Other F Word". Features Punk rock icons who are now dads and all the craziness that ensues. I think this is genius! Visit their site www.theotherfwordmovie.com to learn more. Now just need to find out how to get me hands on a copy.
