LIFE IS A MISSION

This is a celebratory “Welcome Home” pin for the return of kidnap victim, Patty Hearst. In 1974, Patricia “Patty” Hearst, grand-daughter to the famous publisher, William Randolph Hearst, was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army. After being beaten and dragged out of her California apartment, she was held captive for up to nineteen months. During that time of isolation, Hearst claimed that she had been abused and then brainwashed into believing their cause. She took on the new moniker of Tania and participated in several crimes committed in the SLA’s name. These crimes would land her on the FBI’s Most Wanted list.
