How to Do a Weekly Reset In College
I am one of those people who watch YouTube videos all the time on self improvement and things like that. Recently I’ve been digging into videos about giving yourself a fresh start each week, so that you feel prepared. Here are my steps to my weekly reset!
1. Do my laundry. I do this every week usually on the weekend, but mostly on Sundays. I tend to change clothes a lot through out the day, because Texas is unpredictable. It can be super cold and windy in the morning and be warm by evening. I recommend doing your laundry every week. If you live on campus, evaluate when you have time in your schedule to do it, and then see whenever the laundry room is for the most part empty. It is important to go when everyone else isn’t there, so you can get it all done fast. Also set timers for your laundry so you get it out as soon as it is done. It saves time and prevents other people from throwing your wet clothes on top of the machines (if you go on a busy day).
2. Next I sweep my floor. This is really important for me since I have my cat, and he spreads litter everywhere. I sweep every day, but I go and do a thorough sweep once a week.
3. I vacuum my rug on my floor. Cat litter gets spread all throughout it. It is really fun to vacuum in my opinion if you do have any rugs or carpet. I’ve always felt it as something therapeutic to do.
4. I move onto my desk, throughout the week things move everywhere and end up misplaced. If things are no longer where they should be, I go and put them back into their place. I also go and find whatever papers I do not need for this week, and I put them in the hall recycling bin. I also reorganize my desk drawers, and I make sure to wipe it down with Clorox wipes.
5. I go to my entertainment center under my bed, and I dust everything, and rearrange anything that is out of place. The main thing is that everything needs to be in it’s place.
6. I put away all of my clothes in their drawers, and put my more formal clothes on hangers. It really helps me to keep my mind focused when I don’t have any clothes strewn around the room or clean but still in the hamper.
7. I remake my bed. Depending on how everything is going, I’ll take everything off and wash them as well to add that extra freshness to the room. It really helps to at least tidy up the sheets to feel put together.
8. I schedule everything I may need to do for the week into my google calendar. I also schedule my lyft rides to and from my job. It is important to have everything you need scheduled for the week.
9. Next I evaluate the lessons that I will be learning this week in all of my classes. I will schedule study times for different classes and topics into my google calendar. During the exam seasons I make little study guide planners for which topics to cover in each class up until the last day of the semester.
10. Depending on if it is my week to clean the dorm, I will wipe down the sink area, scrub the floors, clean the toilet and shower, and anything else that may need to be done. Sometimes (if it is the two roommates I get along with turn, I will help them clean) (the other one makes our life miserable, she can suffer alone in the cleaning duties.)
11. Next I go to my cabinet space for my food, and just makes sure everything is neat and in order.
12. Then I do a little meditation to relax, and calm my mind, and maybe watch a few episodes of a show on Netflix. I also spend this time to play with my cat, and clean his water bowl and cat castle.
13. Now after I feel calm and reset, I start to work on any topics for the upcoming week that I want to get a head-start on, or I review anything from previous weeks.
I hope this can help you in some way.
