Itâs so great to see so many fellow witcher fans following this blog, especially considering I haven't been all that active lately. It makes me so happy to see the comments or the tags as people use the gifs I make to talk/comment on the various scenes.
This blog is not abandoned.
This blog is, however, on a semi-hiatus till season two.Â
What this means is that content will still be posted here, just not every day like these past few months.Â
The ask box is open if anyone wants to ask me questions/request for a scene to be gifed etc. You can even ask anonymously!Â

Geralt vs Renfri in BlavikenÂ
The Witcher Books: Reading Log
Jan/25/2020-Jan/27/2020: Listened to The Last Wish as an audiobook.Â
Jan/27/2020-Feb/11/202: Listened to Sword of Destiny as an audiobook.
Notes: Absolutely brilliant narration, Iâm loving these audiobooks so much. Itâs amazing to get all this added depth as I learn the stories Netflixâs the Witcher is based off of. Fantastic meeting of Geralt and Ciri, especially after all that rambling about destiny in Something More. If I could change one thing about the series itâd be Geralt and Ciriâs meeting in it. It would have made so much more sense to have the meeting play out like in the book as opposed to her randomly turning around and bumping into Geralt like the show. Overall fun stories, will definitely re-read once I get my hands on a physical copy.Â
Feb/12/2020-Feb/18/2020: Listened to the first half of Blood of Elves as an audiobook, then read the second half as a physical book.Â
Notes: Hardly any witcher-ing in this one. Instead, itâs main focus was that politics of various countries as they reacted to Nilfgaardâs invasive intentions (evidently a set up for following books) and the training of Ciri first at Kaer Morhen with Geralt and the other Witchers (the part where Triss comes and upbraids them for how they were raising Ciri will always be hilarious to me.), then at the Temple of Melitele with Yennefer. (Effective use of flashbacks, really liked their interactions with each other, Ciri and Yen are great characters.) Lucky for me, I happen to enjoy political intrigue and always love when characters get trained. The constant reflections on neutrality and acceptance of races began to grate slightly, but thatâs par for the course when it comes to this series, so what can you do? I suppose it adds character to the books. Geralt had an okay plot-line, very satisfying when his true intentions were revealed. It was cute how he was dryly happy about being vindicated against some poor scholar who thought he knew more about monsters than Geralt. Dandelionâs POV was fun as he did some spy work. The line about him being forty, looking thirty, acting twenty and thinking like heâs ten was was great summation of his character. Considering heâs a recurring character in the Witcher books, Iâm not too concerned about him being killed off in the show (through old age at leastâŚ).
I am seriously looking forward to seeing how Netflix will adapt this book for the second season, I know itâs been said that s2 will be more linear, but there are still different, disjointed perspectives, so will it be linked together by Ciriâs training? Some short stories not adapted in s1 included in this new season? 2021, hurry up and get here!! (Also super interested to see who will be cast as the other Witchers.)
Feb/24/2020-Mar/1/2020: Listened to Time of Contempt as an audiobook.
Notes: The first half was gripping, mostly because of the Geralt and Yennefer and Ciri interaction we got. Too bad they didnât stick together. The coup in the Lodge of Sorcerers could have used a bit less talking, but the- causalities still stung and I was on the edge of my seat. Itâs fascinating learning more about the politics. If Yen doesnât say âI love you, my daughterâ to Ciri in the Netflix series Iâm gonna snap. The 2/3 (?) part of the book was a bit hard to keep track of as it was mostly and update on the political situation with Nilfgaard and if I donât have those place names in front of me, they become mixed up. I did enjoy Dandelionâs progress in Brokilon. Ciri was the main focus of the last part of the book and I am really growing to love her. Loved how she survived in the desert. (As a side note, this is the first time I have ever seen a mention of a tampon in a fantasy book, so kudos I guess.) The fire magic she called upon was confusing to me- it was obviously tied with power and idk, sexually arousing (ish) to Ciri, because that dear unicorn hightailed it out of there. I enjoyed the parts with the Rats, sheâs gonna be playing bandit while everyone looks for her, isnât she?Â
Overall an interesting book. I do not think itâs as solid as Blood of Elves or the short story collection, mostly due to all that exposition on the war. But it was a great background track to my life and Iâm more than ready to go listen to the next book.Â
