You've spent a lifetime in this city, or it at least feels like it.
You've lived a lifetime, regardless of the seconds, minutes, hours, or days. You've lived, regardless or not if you've been alive the entire time.
And you'll continue to. You'll go on. You have to, you know. There's more work to be done. For yourself, for others, for the world. It doesn't matter who. You just know you have to, at the end of the day.
As you'll eventually leave this strange city, you may or may not ever think of it again. Do you ascend? Do you leave to never let it haunt your mind again? Do you stay? You do what you do, as you always may.
You look at the bus, and its new blue haired friends. You look at Ben, a true smile on their face. Mari, as conflicted as they've ever been. The true hosts, who brought you here. The one who wasn't here anymore.
You look, and you see. You truly see. You see everything. You see the past, you see the present. You hopefully see the future, no matter how vague it may be. Because you'll get there, eventually. You wouldn't want to run from it forever. Because it's real, now. A city is many things. It's a home. It's a state of mind. It can be a place to hide away. It can be a place to fall. It has been many, many things, as long as you've been here.
A city, a home, can give you comfort. It can give you a place to rest. It can give you people to be around, and things to do with those people. Meals to go find. Or takeout, if you'd prefer to eat at home. New places to see. Newer things to do. A community. Rumors, jobs. Rest. Rest, rest, rest.
You can leave this city in many ways. On feet, by bus. With your new abilities. Slowly, quickly. but you'll do it alive, now. And by your own choice. Those who brought you here…missed something. They wanted something back. And you've wanted things, too.
You wanted relief. A safe place. Answers. Life. Experience. Understanding. Allies. Enemies.
You could list all of it. Perhaps under other circumstances, you would. But there's not a point to it, now, at the end.
Yes, it's the end. Or an end. An end doesn't mean that everything stops, but it means the ceasing of a current period in your life. What's now, is not. And will never be again. You will have familiar experiences, but not quite walk these halls again.
But you'll still walk. And that's what matters, the most of all.
You've learned a lot, and a lot has changed. Some things about you will still stay the same, though many others won't. You know how to deal with some things better, now. You know how to react. You know what to say, or do. Though that doesn't mean you may not make the same mistakes you have in the past. You'll always come back from them. And you've learned that you will always have another chance.
You're still here, at the end of a journey. Cards are cards. There will always be things that change your life. Unexpected arrivals. For the better, or the worse. But you're not alone, no matter how much you may think you are.
No one's that different, you've learned. Not really. Not under all of it. Everyone can be alone. Everyone can be afraid. Everyone can feel like there's nothing left.
No light in the dark.
No heights left to ascend to.
No home to return to.
No one else.
No body you know.
No one else who knows how to live.
No time left.
No one as good as you.
No one.
No place.
No family.
No understanding.
No limits.
No answers for who to be.
No present to love.
No people to go back to.
No one who can stop you.
No more dreams.
No where left to run.
No space.
No tricks.
No consequences.
But right now, you have the present.
You have other people .You have the knowledge that you're all alive. Even those who aren't. Even those who are gone…you know after this, they'll be back eventually. Not always with vengeance. But everything returns. Everyone lives.
It will be alright, in the end.
You've spent so much time here. But so little.
It's been one week.
And a brand new life. Ending by Ruby
