Our overdue interview with Donnie from Stages and Stereos
We are so sorry this interview just coming out. I thought it had uploaded to Youtube and we just haven't linked it here but that wasn't the case. Capture (the app that you have to use on your iPhone to upload youtube videos) didn't upload it and still refuses to upload it. I did not realize until a few days ago because I was so busy with school. But now it's summer and I have time to actually type this out for you all! OTM: sweet, we wanted to know about the upcoming tour with idobi and Gunz, What is the most exciting thing about going on tour?
Donnie: I'm really excited for this tour because we are headlining it and so we are going to get to see how the Glamour Kills tour affected our draw. We're going to be able to play a lot more songs, since we are headlining, we'll have a longer set. I'm really excited to meet Darling Parade and Orphan the Poet cause they seem like really good people and they're really great bands.
OTM: So how was the Glamour Kills Tour?
Donnie: It was amazing, It was the biggest shows I ever played, I'm pretty sure for the other guys as well. We became really good friends with Cartel and Man Overboard and Mayday Parade and met a lot of great people. Got to play in Canada for the first time which was amazing so the whole tour was incredible.
OTM: That's cool, So are you guys signed to a record label yet?
Donnie: No, not right now. We're just doing things on our own, and if the right person comes along and it's the right fit then we'll do it but we're doing well by ourselves right now so we're just kinda playing it by ear right now.
OTM: If there is a record label you guys would want to be signed to, who would it be?
Donnie: Uh.. That's hard...Cash Money. I'll say that.
OTM: That's a good one to be on
Donnie: Yeah for sure they have a lot of money so
OTM: Who influenced you guys  to play in a band and your music influences?
Donnie: As a whole, the band is really influenced by The Killers, and the a lot of the older Stages and Stereos was influenced by Taking Back Sunday and stuff like that. But now we're starting to listen to a lot of different music. I really like Bombay Bicycle Club, is a great band. The 1975 is amazing.
Donnie: Yeah, pretty much everything. I listen to Tupac, as well, all the time so I really can't . It's hard. That's a hard question.
OTM: When you guys aren't on tour do you guys work?
Donnie: Yeah, when I'm home I deliver floors, everyone has jobs when we're home.
OTM: I was reading about how your bassist, Ian, he was in the army?
Donnie: He was actually in Afghanistan for a little while and got injured over there and when he came back he decided he wanted to start the band backup and so him and Daniel got together and they pulled me and Zack. Ian was an American hero over there, he was a medic and saved some peoples lives and did a lot of great stuff.
OTM: So when you guys have time off on tour what do you guys do?
Donnie: We do a lot of hot tubbing, if we can find one, or we do a lot of siting around. Most of the places we don't have much time to explore or have a lot of money to do anything so we do a lot of hanging out and goofing around.Â
OTM: If you guys could tour with any band who would it be?
OTM: Well any band in general
Donnie: Okay..uh...Goodness... I'll just say The Killers
OTM: Who do you think the other guys would say?
Donnie: Zack would say some weird band like the Pineapple Faries. Daniel would say The Killers. I don't know who Ian would say. And I don't know for Alex either, I'll just say Metallic and Godsmack.
OTM: You guys are from Florida correct?
Donnie: Yes. I live in Jacksonville, Zack lives in Orlando and the rest of the guys live in Tallahassee.
OTM: As a band who do you guys listen to? Like if there was only one station you can listen to in the van?
Donnie: We actually listen to Celine Dion to be completely honest.
OTM: I mean the Titanic song is a classic.
Donnie: Yeah, we listen to her greatest hits a lot of times and then we just show each other a lot of music. Like who ever is driving gets to pick and that's how we show each other a lot of different music.
OTM: If there ever was a documentary made about your bands life, who would you want play as your role?
OTM: What about for the rest of the guys?
Donnie: Alex would be Ryan Gossling, Zack would be Tobey Maguire, Daniel would be Robert Di Niro and Ian would be Gwyneth Paltrow.
OTM: I know a lot of other bands play pranks while on tour, have you guys pulled any of your own?
Donnie: This past tour Daniel used to go up and sing with Mayday Parade every night and we played at the House of Blues in Orlando, when he was supposed to go up  I went on stage in my underwear and lip synced with them and Daniel sung on the side of the stage. That wasn't even really a prank. It just surprised everyone.Â
OTM: That's funny... did you guys just bring on Alex from Go Radio!
Donnie: Yeah. Just recently.
OTM: Is he fitting in well? Do you guys like him?
Donnie: Oh yeah, for sure, we all get along well. The writing is going really well. He's been a really big part of it. I think it's going to be great. He's a really great dude. I've known him for a really long time.
