The corollary of needing to be willing to frame arguments in terms of moral precepts you don't necessarily share is needing to be aware of subtext. Yes, it's easy to get a certain stripe of hyper-conservative folks to agree with anything you please by framing it in terms of opposition to Big Government, but a large part of that is because when you say "Big Government", what they hear is "Jews". You didn't hack their brain with magic words, you just didn't realise what you were saying!

I don't remember what post exactly I said this in, but I remember I once saw someone doing this and had to tell them "sometimes you think you're tricking the racist into agreeing with you when you're actually letting the racist trick you into agreeing with him"

That "hack them with hogspeak!!" post that has been going around straight-up drops the neo-nazi antisemitic "Elites" dog whistle *and* recommends leaning into the right -wing tendency to blame "vague enemies", which of course is throwing Jews under the bus and feeding antisemitic conspiracy theories, but communists don't give a shit about that.

the reason that we won't have a female president for the foreseeable future is that the vast majority of american men seem incapable of looking at a female politician without trying to determine whether or not they would fuck her, but whether or not they would answer that question in the affirmative is ultimately irrelevant as the fact that they have even considered said female politician in a sexual way will ultimately preclude her in their minds from being worthy of the presidency

Maybe it’s the autism in me but I can’t wrap my head around people who say “I just don’t understand gay/trans people.” in a derogatory way. I don’t GET anyone. I don’t have to understand why someone is the way they are to accept that they are that way. Why are you trying to make a woman explain what it feels like to be a woman to defend her womanhood? You can’t understand it anyway. I truly do not give a fuck if you don’t get it. There are many beautiful works of art I do not get that I accept are important and meaningful in ways I cannot understand.
