The first book. It's Nefarian's book, it's before his magic got nerfed and he's a delight in every scene he is in. 10/10 villainous bae~<3

Plus, the first three books are nice and short with no side plots, I couldn't care less about, distracting from the main plot. Also, during the first few two books the Faceless Ones actually seemed like a Cthulhu level threat. When they actually showed up in book 3 it was kinda... meh. And from there on their threat level just went downhill tbh.

Look, they removed the cicada. Now it’s just a skull.

I don't have a PDF either, unfortunately.

By what I've seen it's not worth buying. Like, it's meant to be a lore book, an ultimate GUIDE to the books, but apparently it's full of errors. Big yikes.

It's so bad that the special editions comes with a fucking letter of apology, I kid you not.

Highlights include butchering the occult, the Cthulhu mythos, and the name of the ‘Sceptre of the Ancients’ black crystal changing from ‘hirranian crystal’ in DoA to ‘katathedral crystal’ in the Grimoire.

While the preview on Amazon is too bloody small to read, the Google Playstore provides a free sample of the Grimoire (the first 42 pages) at a decent size.

Regarding the Amazon kindle version: is only the preview so small or does the actual full version of the Grimoire have the same issue? I heard there were some issues regarding the eBook version of the Grimoire?

Derek said that Mevolent was injured in 1860. and he married Sef in 1865

so.... he married her after he was injured. so.... maybe. Sera and Mev were knowing heach other and he came back hurt from a battle. And she taked care of him. and you know how it works....🤭😏

And five years later they got married.

Also.... i am curious... how and who do you think injured Mevolent?? And what tipe of damage it was?? how serious it was??was it a simple injury or something more important??

That doesn’t work for me at all.

First of all I don’t follow the ‘official’ timeline bc it got retconned into making no damn sense. Nefarian would no have fled if Mevolent was still alive. So I’m going by the timeline of the first paperback print version of ‘Across a Dark Plane’ (AKA the one I bought) where Mevolent is already dead when Nefarian is being chased by the Dead Men and fleeing to South Dakota in 1861.

I also headcanon that Baron was captured while buying time for Nefarian to flee (despite Nef’s protests). So the entire time Nef was on the run he had no idea if Baron was still alive or if he had lost him too.

My headcanon of Mev’s death in 1860 is that after Vile had ‘died’ and China had defected they were bleeding followers like crazy and Mev was trying to make up for it and overexerting himself. While fighting against Meritorious, Morwenna and Tome at once he had been fighting too fiercely for too long and ended up being to exhausted to dodge in time and got harpooned out of the sky. The Facelesss followers had to watch their leader plunged from the heavens. Nef rushed to him instantly but when he reached the body Mev was already dead. The scratch marks and splintered finger nails showed that he had still been alive after being pretty much impaled and had desperately tried to claw the harpoon out of his chest. It had been the impact that had ultimately killed him. Tho it’s unlikely he would have survived the injuries he had sustained either way.

This headcanon is more in line with phase 1 canon than the entirety of phase 2 is.

I also headcanon that Nef was the one that takes care of Mev’s wounds prior to him marrying Sera. Now Nef and Sera take turns patching Mev up.

And my marriage headcanon for Mev/Sef is that it was political, but they got lucky and actually fell for each other at first sight.

And then there is this tweet.

And then there is Skul being Landy’s self insert while phase 2 Val is based on his girlfriend. And the American DoA cover being super shippy. And Sow and DoA having increasingly more Valduggery moments. And Cadaver Cain being a thing. Plus book 15 will be the last book and I very much doubt there’ll be a phase 3, unless Landy self-publishes, so making it canon wouldn’t really hurt sales.
