Hello! Thank you for being so clear with explanations on every topic you cover. I'm making amazing progress with your help! I was wondering if you know somewhere that can help me with conjugations? I seem to have trouble with merging rules (and irregulars) and would like a reference table or something to that effect. Thanks for any help you can give!
Hi! I'm so glad my blog helps! :) So it seems like a lot of people probably want a little conjugation cheat sheet type of thing. I decided to make some charts myself for you guys to reference! (which is why this took me a while to answer so Iâm sorry for the wait!) Now you all probably know that there are SO many Korean sentence endings and stuff, but these charts will just cover conjugations concerning the most common levels of formality and tense! Hope this helps!!
(BTW Iâm sorry that the quality of these charts looks terrible for some reason. I hope you guys can still read them! Maybe in the future Iâll post these somewhere else. Also, I tried to fit in as many irregularities as possible, but thereâs a chance my list isnât exhaustive. But I think I covered a lot in these charts so I hope you guys enjoy!)
Iâll be sure to put this post on my masterlist under level 1! If you guys would like to see more of these charts, let me know! I can make more for things like commands and questions!!

Language Learning Ideas Printable
Here is a printable I made that I hope can help you out on your language learning journey. It has different activities based on how much time you have, as well as a checklist for frequent activities. By using it, you can see what works for you and what doesnât.Â
I tried to include as many things that many people can use, but some activities canât be used by all language learners, unfortunately. The links to the website are clickable in the PDF file. I tested this myself and have even included a blank version if you prefer to write your own activities. Again, these are just some ideas for you to incorporate and I hope that they are useful.

2000+ Korean Manga/Manhwa Words
ONGOING POST:
One thing that has really helped me with learning Korean has been reading manga & manhwa. So I decided to rank most of the things Iâve fully read in terms of difficulty, and include general topics for the story / vocabulary. Difficulty will vary per person due to what they are familiar with, generally âDaily Conversationâ tended to be easier, where as âSupernaturalâ stories were much harder.Â
LINK:Â https://tinyurl.com/TKBWordLists
There are 3 types of word lists,Â
1) FULL List: Includes every word that I looked up in order of how it showed up in the story.Â
2) INCOMPLETE List: Same as Full List, but I am still updating it.
3) NECESSARY List: Just has the most important words that repeatedly came up through the story. Ideally these will all be eventually updated to full lists, but this may take a while!
THESE RATINGS ARE ALL BASED ON AN INTERMEDIATE LEVEL.Â
SOME MANGA AREÂ âMATUREâ.
Now this is an ongoing post so it will be updated with new series and word lists, but I wanted to get this started now. There are still many left blank as my note for certain series are still in the US, and I did my best to make sure that there are no typos, but if you happen to find any or have suggestions on what to add please let me know!Â

GERMAN YOUTUBERS MEGAPOST
Hey German Study Buddies,
I think watching German youtube for the past year or so has allowed my German to improve so much. Adopting the German colloquialisms and listening to the fluency and grammar structures in the videos has really helped me so so much! For anybody learning a language: youtube is the best!
Not only is it fun to watch the many funny videos or hauls (yesâŚI have obsession with clothing hauls), but also you can learn so much by just continually listening to the German. Anyway, it took me a while to find these German youtubers so I thought I would share them in one big master post here:
PS: if you know any other good German youtubers let me know and Iâll add to the list! :) PPS: I put a little heart next to my favourite ones x

Ciao :) Mi piacerebbe qualche suggerimento di libri italiani da leggere per favore. Niente troppo complesso, studio l'italiano solamente da 4 mesi :p
Hey! Iâll answer in English, just in case somebody else who still hasnât learned enough Italian to fully understand should be interested. Now, not knowing what kind of books you like (non-fiction, fiction, poetryâŚ), Iâm not sure my advice will be all that helpful, but Iâll try.
First off, if you just want to improve your knowledge of the language, you might as well read books you already like translated into Italian (@plurilinguismo posted the new Italian translation of the 7 Harry Potter books, for example).
If you are looking for Italian authors, on the other hand, I see that Italo Calvino, Natalia Ginzburg and Alessandro Baricco are among the most suggested for learners (but I have only read Calvino and extracts from a couple of Bariccoâs works myself, so take my words with a grain of salt). Iâll leave you links to pdfâs of their work I could find on the Internet, so you can check them out:
Calvino: Il visconte dimezzato [x], Il barone rampante [x], Il cavaliere inesistente [x] (the author suggests reading these three like a trilogy), Le cittĂ invisibili [x]
Ginzburg: Lessico famigliare [x]
Baricco: Seta [x], Novecento [x] (actually a monologue), Oceano mare [x]
But, honestly, if you are not biased against comic books, the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of an easy read for beginners would be Topolino, also known as the magazine that has taught many young Italians through generations to read. Itâs a digest-sized weekly magazine, featuring Disney comics starring characters like Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Goofy and more. It may sound silly, but itâs a wonderful source of new vocabulary and I find some of the stories genuinely awesome to this day (I can suggest you a couple, if youâd like me to!). You can find some of the comics scanned on this Facebook page, just browse through their photo albums.
In the same spirit, you might also check out PKNA, a comic published by Disney Italy revolving around the adventures of superhero Paperinik, an alter-ego of Donald Duck created in 1969 by a group of Italian cartoonists. Here you can find the first ten issues, but there are more around the internet.
(Seriously, sorry about the rant on Disney comics, but they are actually interwoven into our cultural substratum to such a degree that over the years many well-known novels and movies have been parodied by Topolino: check out Casablanca [x], Danteâs Inferno [x] [x] [x] and War and Peace [x]!)
Fr? Lemme check this out
Hereâs the link to all of the free online classes offered by Harvard:
https://www.edx.org/school/harvardx
But TBH I prefer the MIT Open Coursewear approach. Feel like taking a class on the policy and economics of nuclear engineering? MITâs got you covered:
https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/find-by-topic/#cat=engineering&subcat=nuclearengineering&spec=nuclearsystemspolicyandeconomics
In fact theyâve got you covered with A LOT of their courses, everything from fine arts to immunology.
Have fun :)

tips from a native speaker
italian is not an easy language. the grammar structure is complex, it has a wide vocabulary and depending on factors you might also find difficult to master the pronunciation. donât beat yourself up if you donât succeed at first, it takes time and practice. be patient. youâll master the language one day.
the âitalian standard vocabularyâ (the one we use on a daily basis) is made of 6.500 words, but 90% of conversations are made using 2.000 basic words. youâll be able to keep up a conversation sooner than you think!
donât be afraid to talk with a native speaker even if youâre a beginner!! weâll most likely understand you and correct you if necessary. also youâll improve SO MUCH
this is a really interesting tip: purchase the italian translation of your favorite book and read it. itâs easier bc you already know the story + you can look at the translation for any doubts. when you become more confident, then you can start reading new books
pick an article from an italian newspaper and translate it with the help of a dictionary. here, have some italian newspapers 1 2 3 4 5
never rely on google translate, itâs good if you want a general idea of the meaning but 9/10 translations are incorrect
you want to keep two notebooks, one for grammar/exercises and one for your personal vocab (i suggest you to get an alphabetized one)
listen to italian music, watch movies/documentaries/tv shows in italian (with or without subtitles). 90% of my english knowledge comes from this method tbh
in the #langblr tag you can find many more tips, posts and blogs to help you

if you want a revision of your italian exercises you can submit them and iâll gladly be your proofreader!!

Hey, how do you learn Italian? what textbooks and apps do you use? Can you give any tips for someone who is just starting out? Thanks in advance?
Hi!! Thank you for your question.Â
Here is a rough plan I made when I started this blog, which is July 2017. It contains a list of resources I was using at the time. I donât have access to my Schaumâs vocabulary book at the moment, but Iâll be resuming it when I get home. I would definitely recommend it if youâre an intermediate learner like me.
Other resources Iâve used consistently over the past few months are:
this website for free ebooks
this website for free audiobooks
raiplay for series and films (I also watched Suburra on Netflix, itâs brilliant and you should go watch it right now)
Eduopen.org and federica.eu are two websites that contain MOOCs in Italian, if youâre into that
You could also consider getting the raiplay radio app on your phone to listen to the radio, podcasts, and audiobooks. Note that not all of their content is available outside Italy.Â
My routine is now doing a MOOC class (making notes and looking up new vocabulary) in the evening, or going on tandem and chatting to people, because I really have to focus on university studies. (I 100% recommend getting tandem on your phone. Itâs free and really fun)
Before that, I used to read a lot of articles on La Repubblica - just pick a section that interests you. I liked reading outloud to practice speaking, and it also made me focus on the text more. At the end you could make a list of words you donât know. I also used to watch Cucine da Incubo (the Italian version of Kitchen Nightmares) and the dubbed version of The Nanny, there are lots of other fun programmes available on youtube so just look for something you find interesting. That way you wonât feel bad about procrastinating.. because youâll be doing it in Italian!
Here are some other useful posts with resources (links included)
radio stations
podcasts
movies and series

My tips for someone who is just starting out would be:
Do something every day. Or every other day, if you have little time. This is a lot better than just doing a lot on one day and then doing nothing for the next week or two, or three⌠your brain wonât retain new information if you donât practiceÂ
Make it fun and varied. I donât use apps like memrise, duolingo, etc for any of my target languages because I find them very boring and repetitive. Find a routine that works for you.
If you are a complete beginner, take your time to understand the grammar. Verb drills, gender agreement, articles, and the like. Find a grammar book you like and stick to it. You could look up exercises online to complement it.Â
Again, if youâre a complete beginner, start by listening to Disney songs! Look up the lyrics, print them out or write them down if you like, highlight new words, try to translate the lyrics line by line, and/or learn the songs by heart. When youâre a bit more confident in the language, find artists in genres you like and listen to them, and do the same. I listen to a lot of rap music, for example. I look up the lyrics on rapgenius and try to follow them and understand what they mean.
I know Iâve said this before, but go on tandem. Try to have a conversation, even a very simple one. Ask your language partner to correct you if you make a mistake.
Good luck!!! If anyone else has tips or resources for beginners, it would be lovely if you added them to this post!
