Here's some angst I've been working on:
"No... you don't understand," she stuttered, swallowing against the ache in her throat. "I don't want the trip to be ruined because of me."
His shoulders sagged with palpable sadness. "Oh, Rook."
Leaning in, he closed the small distance between them and gently pressed his teeth to her lips. It wasn't a kiss in the mortal sense; bone possessed neither warmth nor softness, yet she relaxed almost instantly, comforted by the familiar gesture.
"You haven't ruined anything," he swore. "You couldn't possibly."
"Emmrich..." She turned her face towards the window, though her eyes seemed fixed on nothing beyond the glass. "You don't understand. What if I'm still stuck in bed next year?"
"Darling—"
"Or the year after? Or the year after that?"
He opened his mouth, but no answer came as she weakly gripped his fingers. When she looked back at him, tears glistened in her eyes.
"You have forever now," she wept. "I don't."
The words cut deeper than any blade ever could. For the first time since surrendering his mortality, Emmrich found himself speechless, unable to think of anything to say. Death had always frightened him. Immortality never had. He'd embraced it willingly, believing endless years to be the greatest gift imaginable.
Until her.
Until he discerned that forever wasn't measured by the years one possessed, but by the people with whom those years were shared. An eternity without Rook was no blessing at all, only an endless procession of empty seasons, each one reminding him of what he'd lost.
Soo, I was home and sick the past few days, but at least I had some energy left to draw and of course it’s the Baron ❤️🔥 this is one of three collages that I wanna make. Let’s see when I will have the energy and time to do the others. I also think about, if I should try to color this one or not.

Two days ago, I was surprised by an outpouring of love from so many people in the Emmrook fandom. I am unbelievably touched by all the kindness and generosity, and I'm still reeling from it all. Some of the messages I received included art, edits, and poems that I absolutely have to share here, because there's far too much talent for one person to enjoy alone.
