I don't exactly know what about linzin absolutely has me in a chokehold. Maybe it´s the childhood friends to lovers arc. Maybe it's the complicated history that no one really talks about. Maybe it's the fact that we know so little about them, but they have their little inside jokes and references. Like, we don't see that between any other characters, but between them, we do. Like I don't know. Something about being very famous, people knowing about you and talking about you, but only one other person truly knows what you are like, the real you, when no lights shine upon you, when you don't need to be anything else than what you really are. Like that is precious, and they have that, well they had that, but the traces of that intimacy still exist.

I think the problem with a lot of “feminist” classical retellings that makes them fail at being feminist is that they’re villainizing the wrong characters.

Stop holding the gods to human standards. They’re not human. That is quite literally the point of MULTIPLE Euripides plays. Go after the heroes.

But go after the RIGHT heroes. Why are we vilifying Hector, arguably one of the least problematic heroes, in stories where Achilles and Agamemnon exist? Why is Paris exempt from criticism, but Menelaus is the epitome of evil? (That part is also aimed at Euripides, I love The Trojan Women but holy shit you did him dirty my guy.) Why are we not being MORE hateful towards Jason? Why are we continuing to make Medea the villain?

Why are we making shit up about Romeo to give Juliet her “feminist freedom arc” that she ALREADY HAS IN THE PLAY? Paris is RIGHT THERE, go rip HIM to shreds. And on the opposite spectrum of that, why don’t we NAME everyone who wronged Ophelia instead of sanitizing her to the point where she’s a completely different character, and in the end, oppressing her just like everyone else in the play?

A lot of this also boils down to the refusal to accept women and feminine characters as flawed, as well as the refusal to acknowledge that, in order to uphold these false narratives, you have to completely destroy characters who aren’t traditionally masculine or feminine, but clearly we’re not ready for that conversation yet.

This scene definitely had an impact. tiktok and even twt picked up on it; I'm a bit surprised to see how one scene makes people start shipping Toko.

I need more, more Toko too! But now we have canon designs for adult Toph and Zuko, and that means a lot for our ship! I keep hoping that the promised Zuko movie will happen, and we'll see Toph and their interactions again.

Twitter always makes me mad, but this time it made me wonder if people actually watch and read things.

My timeline is full of TLOK and ATLA. I always thought this fandom actually watched and paid attention to things bc it’s always so full of detail and the analysis made are usually on point. Not this time, tho.

The guy had the courage to say that TLOK ruined Toph. According to him, the writing is out of character bc she turned into a irresponsible single mother of two children from different fathers.

The irresponsible and single mother: men, Toph was never responsible. Never. She usually didn’t acknowledge her mistakes and she really didn’t care much about them either. We only saw her sad about the mistakes she made like three times (and that is counting with the Lin convo). She was also caged as child, obviously she would give the freedom she wanted to have. And about being a single mom, there’s nothing wrong with it. And is absolutely on point. Toph’s story is basically freedom hunting, there’s no way that woman would settle down and her relationships probably didn’t work bc of that. And there’s nothing out of character. And I also don’t understand the fuss about her sleeping with more than one person. What’s the deal? She can have sex with whoever she wants for fucks sake.

A strange (criminal) guy almost cut Toph in a half and he was like “you have to be calm and patient, we can’t hurt him” and then Zuko grabs Katara to stop her from attacking his guards and he goes straight to Avatar State saying that maybe Roku was right like bitch be so for real 😭😭😭

Yeah I love his relationship with Katara but for fucks sake he is always doing things and then lecturing others so they don’t act like he did. He sounded like “Hey Toph, you don’t need to hurt the stranger guy who almost killed you but watch me almost kill Zuko, one of our besties, bc he touched Katara ✨”

Korra's relationships with world leaders are so funny like:

-Korra has had falling outs with her father, the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe. Not that serious but hey.

-Korra has argued (several times) with Tenzin, leader of the Air Nation and one of the former councilmen of Republic City. Again not that serious but hey.

-Korra literally argued with and fought and was bloodbent Tarrlok, another councilman of Republic City.

-Korra fought (and kind of killed) her uncle Unalaq, the Chief of the Northern Water Tribe. She also fought her cousins Eska and Desna, the current Chiefs.

-Korra's relationship with Raiko —president of the United Republic— was so good (sarcastic) that they both argued and yelled at each other in public and he banished her from Republic City for the entirety of Book 3. At least she gets along with Zhu Li now.

-Korra got along so well with the Earth Queen (also sarcastic) that she yelled at her, organized a prison break and ended up being a fugitive in the Earth Kingdom. At least she's chill with Wu.

-Korra fought Kuvira —who was also leader of the Earth Kingdom/Empire/whatever—. Twice.

Basically, the only nation that hasn't had a leader with whom Korra hasn't had any beef with (serious or unserious)... is the Fire Nation. She's yelled at, argued with or physically fought any kind of leader from all nations except the Fire Lord. Which is a big contrast with Aang lmao.

Not a fandom thing but more of a personal thing. I was raised by my mom and my dad, both had towns of LGBTQIAP+ friends. My aunts had girlfriends or wives and I’m sacred of asking for their help on the matter. Like, my mom is super open and she tries to help when I’m liking a woman (I’m bissexual) but even tho she doesn’t dress according to what heterosexual cis people think a cis het woman should dress (mom is wrongly mistaken by a lesbian bc of her haircut, style and manners even tho she’s has never touched a woman in her life) and even with all her experience helping her lesbian friends, she’s still very much heterosexual. Like, she thinks like a het woman (I mean obviously since she is cis het) and her advice doesn’t really sink when I’m liking a girl. When it’s with guys, it’s pretty okay, but I don’t treat women like I treat men and I won’t ever do so. I can’t ignore a woman nor give her a “cold” shoulder and all, specially when I’m in love. Basically, even tho I had girlfriends before, I don’t think I know how to flirt with women or what I should do for them to notice me.

And it sucks because I’m interested on a woman, a teacher, who’s my “co-worker” and I have no clue on how to get her to notice me. She’s must be ten years older, she teaches music and arts…well, she’s brilliant and kind and beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous and amazing.

Anyway, any help? I really want her to notice me without being weird 😭
