You know, Avengerz (Thunderbolts) strangely maps really nicely to the Avengers. That is, there is an Avengerz member that fits to an original Avenger member... if that Avenger was a knockoff version written by a sleep deprived writer who was onto something and on something at once.
Yelena and Natasha is the obvious one, with Yelena being both more ridiculous and more depressed than Natasha. They're both Black Widows, they basically share a backstory, but while Natasha was just cool, Yelena cringes at herself in between being cool.
Bucky's like Steve. He's both not really the most obvious Captain America replacement (in a group with US Agent and the Red Guardian) and yet, the most obvious one. I mean, moral-wise he followed Steve to the end. Character-wise, both of them are men from nearly a century ago, trying to find their footing. Also, Bucky literally becomes Captain America in some of the comic runs.
Alexi is Thor, but if you realised the packaging actually said "Thur" and you could kinda tell that the action figure is actually a Superman base that was recoloured. He's loud, overly friendly, a little bad at reading the room, but strong, fairly reliable, and just a good guy. They're both foreign/not-from-America, though Alexi is from Russia and Thor is from a mythical alien planet.
John is like Hawkeye, and John would hate me if he ever read this. But they are both really capable guys who everyone keeps mistaking for "just a guy." Hawkeye trained so much that he never misses a shot and he could hold his own against any of the forces the Avengers fought against. John is a veteran who served in the military, and has the super soldier serum. Yet, they're somehow the least impressive of the group.
This might be my biggest stretch, but Ava is like Tony. In the way that she is probably extremely smart (literally working with quantum physics, but I'm too dumb to tell you if she'd need to be smart to do what she does in the Ant Man movie) and she has a suit that keeps her alive the same way a part of Tony's suit kept him alive. That's kinda where their similarities end tho, unless you count that they also carry the legacy of their dead dads, except one's like, a legend while the other one is a discredited scientist.
Lastly, Bob's like Bruce. I mean, Bob and Bruce are both harmless, but they have an alter ego who has caused havoc on a big portion of New York when they first appeared. Bruce is way smarter and Bob's way more clueless, but Sentry and Hulk are the most powerful member of the Avengerz and Avengers respectively. They're also both the member that could have you go "yay" or "oh no!" in a heartbeat due to how unpredictable they are.
I'm just saying, Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine is onto something (and probably on something)
