Ok so this is my thought process.

The older brother would absolutely take in Stan. No questions, no remarks, just a simple "Get in here, kid." Older Brother sees his brother (Filbrick) in Stan so much which makes him love Stan like crazy. But I don't think he would ever do anything with Stan because his love for Filbrick is so strong. The reason he loves Stan is because he is Filbrick's son, so he is a part of him.

He is a lot more emotionally open, which is strange in this era for older men but Stan finds that he likes it when he knows what the older man in his life is thinking and feeling. He's not a parent, he has no idea how to parent, but he knows a troubled kid when he sees one. Because he himself and Filbrick were troubled children. Stan is still his beloved nephew, he held him in his arms as a babe. He doesn't like knowing Stan was kicked out by his brother but he doesn't like Stan doing what he did for Ford's project either (He loves Ford very much too but he's got a closer relationship with Stan).

That doesn't meant that Ford is not be pissed or jealousy because Stan is still his brother. And he's a selfish asshole too. (They're teens, what can I say?) The idea of someone else joking with Stan, making Stan laugh, being there for Stan when he's upset, being the closetest thing to Stan drives him up the walls. Yeah he's angry and he upset with him, but he's supposed to be angry and upset with him WITH HIM. Stan is supposed to be in their room and Ford giving him the cold shoulder or having a fight or throwing stuff or getting into a fight or saying stuff they don't mean but say anyway because it hurts. Not being alone.

And definitely not while he stays at home and his brother is being smoozhed up with his uncle.

Filbrick gets a phone call from his brother. He's stern with him on the phone, says he has his kid, and to come over here and make things right with him. Filbrick is stubborn and won't budge but his brother is sneaky, manipulative. Despite knowing that his older brother wouldn't do anything with the boys, his older brother taunts him. Filbrick knows that his brother has been trying to make him see how his boys are acting toward each other, how it's just like them, how Stan is so much like him in every way.

Maybe he, the older brother, should figure out just how similar Stan is to Filbrick.
