30 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR THE CRIME OF OWNING ZINES
Our friend Des Revol has been wrongly arrested and convicted over a b… Jonathan Rochkind needs your support for Get Artist Des Revol Help wi
“The need to deter this type of conduct is high,” That's what U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor said to justify the ludicrous sentencing of Des Revol along with the other eight individuals arrested for their involvement in the Prairieland Detention Center protest. It doesn't matter that Des Revol didn't participate in said protest and wasn't in the area, or that he was arrested two days later at gunpoint. O'Connor and the Texas state court want to make an example of Revol in the hopes it will deter future criminal activity. His crime? Having a box of free zines, pamphlets, and art in his truck. Free speech isn't illegal yet and we won't let Texas pretend that it is! In Des's own words(taken from his first public statement):
"If this is happening to me now, it’s only a matter of time before it happens to you."

The rule could have heavy impacts towards trans people across society.
Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people. The 400-page proposed regulation would codify the administration's anti-trans executive orders into binding federal policy, imposing a blanket prohibition on federal funds going toward "gender ideology"
The proposed rule, formally titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," rewrites the government-wide framework governing all federal grants across every agency. Among its most consequential provisions, it requires that before a federal grant recipient can receive money, the award must pass a "pre-issuance review" conducted by a political appointee—not a career expert or peer reviewer—to ensure it is "consistent with applicable law, Federal agency priorities, and the national interest." The regulation explicitly instructs these appointees to screen for "denial by the recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic." [...] An institution that acknowledges transgender people exist—through its policies, its training, its healthcare, its bathroom access, its HR procedures, its name-change processes—could be deemed to "deny the sex binary" or to “support the notion that sex is mutable” and have its federal funding blocked.
Importantly, the gender ideology prohibition has no age limitation—hospitals could be targeted not just for providing care to minors but for providing gender-affirming care to adults, because prescribing hormone therapy to a transgender patient of any age could be deemed promoting the belief that "sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic."
THIS IS OPEN TO COMMENT UNTIL JULY 13, 2026
This is all very bad and horrible, but I want to be clear that it’s worse and more sweeping than just eliminating trans research.
This torches everything. And I do mean everything.
A very abbreviated list of its ramifications include (but are not limited to):
ending funding for ALL DEI related initiatives
allowing the government to terminate grants at any point for any reason
preventing researchers from publishing, going to conferences, and being part of academic societies
requiring that topics must support the president’s agenda.
What this means, and if anything I’m under selling it, is the death of science and research in America. It allows the government to restrict any topic they please at a whims notice, putting officials who have no background in the topic in charge of deciding funding continuity. It controls what gets researched and if/how researchers are allowed to share their discoveries. There are no books to burn if the government never allows them to be written. This is fascism plain and simple.
Please, if you only ever write one public comment, this is the one to do.
Bringing back this guide to writing an effective public comment. This gives you the basics you need to know, what you need to include, a basic outline you can follow, etc.
Public comments are not a vote, it is a chance for you to say "here is an issue with this law I think you need to address" and provide justification for legal challenges if it goes forward:
"Comments raise the bar that agencies have to meet when making a rule; “if an agency fails to adequately respond to significant, relevant comments in a final rule, members of the public may seek to challenge the rule in court on that basis and claim it could be struck down.ˮ"
But also, if possible, don't stop at writing a comment. Don't stop at calling your representatives. You should ideally be talking to people in your community about this and organizing resistance on-the-ground; there is a good chance people are already doing that even if you aren't hearing about it.
Like they said- get the noise up. The administration has tried lots of ways to ban being transgender, and they've always failed. Make sure to tell community members and ask them to pass the word as well.
Don't let fear or feeling doomed stop you. If you're overwhelmed that's okay, but take a break, take a breath, talk to someone about how you're feeling, and continue.
We've beaten them before and we'll beat them again.
the highest recorded wet bulb temperatures in the world occur in india, jsyk. in odisha, they’ve hit 34.6 degrees celsius. the human survivability limit is 35 degrees celsius but the body faces significant risks, potentially fatal risks, even at 30 degrees as it starts failing to cool itself, like i’m talking organ failure levels of risk. climate change isn’t coming to peak, it’s been in the global south where you can’t see it or feel it.

Come to think of it, it really is insane that my entire country is burning alive and literally no one in the rest of the world cares. Thousands of Indians are dying every day from the heat, it's 45+ degrees in multiple areas, the government couldn't give two fucks, we're getting severe warnings and red alerts, and not a soul outside of South Asia is speaking about it because why would you ever care about brown people
please keep talking about how Becky from Maryland doesn't like the rising gas prices. It's clearly the more pressing issue.

today my sister hosted a family get together with burgers and hot dogs but we ran out of propane for the grill just as we started grilling. so my wife and I ran to a store to grab a tank.
we walk in. immediately spot the 20-something-year-old of ambiguous gender in a work vest.
"hi, can we get a tank of propane?" "yeah sure I'll go get it for you and my coworker can ring you up"
at this point I'm looking around the store to see who all is working. two older men are hovering near the register and two young teen boys are hanging out by the buckets. one of the boys ducks outside to follow the first person we talked to, then quickly comes back in holding a bucket.
"do you think we could fit a propane tank in this bucket?"
????
one of the older men looks at us and rolls his eyes. "ignore him."
the second teenager grabs another bucket and starts heading... somewhere?
the second older man says, "put that down and come here, I'm tying you to the register. both of you."
?????
"OK :)" puts bucket away.
"yo, catch my bucket!" teen two throws his bucket across the store to teen one. he catches it and puts it in the bucket stack, and then they both dutifully approach the register.
older man two pulls a small piece of rope out from behind the register and starts tying it around teen two's waist.
by this point older man one has run our card and we have our receipt.
back outside, person of ambiguous gender hands the propane tank to my wife. "I like your glasses! have a good one!"
my glasses are rainbow.
"I like your hair! you too!"
their mullet is growing out a home dye job.
inside I hear protests from teen one about literally being tied to the register.

Hey, did y'all see this?
I saw this when running newpipe. But wait, it gets deeper. I clicked on the details buttons and it said as of today, we have 83 days left until Google rolls out this new requirement for apps inside and outside of the google play store. If any developer disagrees with their new terms and fees, they will be blocked!
I'll share some of the info below:
Looks like they're trying to nuke the remaining privacy and freedoms we have left on the internet.
What to do?
-Get your developer friends to not comply to their new guides
- Sign the open letter on the site and take action by checking out the full resources list on their website as well!
To summarize, this is all daunting especially when you feel all alone with unfair and inhumane regulations comming out faster than improvements but we got this working together!
Share the link with your friends, family and anyone who will listen!

here's the lgbtq tag trending as it does regularly due to pornbots catfishing using the same stolen photos from the same trans woman on the same trending tags page
remember the year in review? this was one of the featured tags
here's tumblr staff stating that making death threats towards trans women isn't a violation of the ToS or user guidelines
type of shit you can just say to trans women on this website. same person btw
here's tumblr staff terminating me for appealing the explicit flag on a post immediately before accepting said appeal and then terminating my already terminated blog to change the termination reason to something i can't appeal when I appealed the termination for explicit content
here's tumblr staff doing the exact same thing a second time
here's tumblr staff flagging SPECIFICALLY AND EXCLUSIVELY MY REBLOGS of a year old post with 15,000 notes as sexually explicit despite it not actually showing anything
here's SPECIFICALLY AND EXCLUSIVELY MY REBLOG of a post with gifs of two fully nude people fucking center frame being flagged as sexually explicit and the same gifs in the trending tags thumbnails
here's tumblr letting people blaze sissy hypno captions even though anything actually mentioning trans women gets denied
here's tumblr giving my original blog of 13 years a special kind of mature flag that automatically marked every single post i made as mature content separate from the actual content label
here's one of the pictures of the PMMM gachapon toys from the photoset of them that someone reported as CSAM that tumblr terminated me for - one of the two surviving images from it, from back when they actually bothered to moderate posts instead of just hitting the nuke button without looking
here's tumblr instantly denying my appeal for these terminations before I even get the email where they assure me they will carefully review it
here's tumblr terminating me 5 times in the weeks it took them to remove a burner blog and a single post encouraging people to mass report me and harass me forever over completely fabricated claims
here's tumblr flagging my already mature-flagged blog as mature out of the blue 15 minutes before dropping the age verification shit
and here's the episode of the anime that I posted a screencap from that they flagged as sexually explicit, denied my appeal on twice, and then marked my blog mature the first time for posting - available for viewing on youtube with a TV-14 age rating

I think you can tell a lot about how rigorous and committed someone's belief in a human right is by how quickly they are able to name people who they think could or should have that right taken away.
Like "X is a universal human right. (This doesn't include Y people though)"
Either you think X isn't actually a human right, or you think Y aren't people.
Some folks really did go straight to the replies to prove me right.
It's wild to me that people in the notes are all arguing about rapists and murderers and people deserving to get their human rights taken away for doing Bad Things, and...
Yeah, sure, serial killers deserve human rights too, but isn't there a more obvious demographic you're sliding right by? Isn't there a demographic of people so thoroughly erased by human rights discourse that their rights aren't even debated, it's just taken for granted that human rights don't apply to these people?
(It's minors. I'm talking about minors. Also disabled/neurodivergent adults under institutionalization/guardianship who have been reduced to the legal status of minors.)
I literally do this as a first-day activity in my childhood studies courses.
I take a poll: "how many of you would agree that 'everyone deserves the right to privacy' is a pretty uncontroversial statement?"
when 95% of them have put their hands up, I say "now, what if I clarify that 'everyone' includes children?"
and as everyone lowers their hands slowly and gives me a confused look like a deer in headlights, I tell them "okay. this class is about what it means to not be part of 'everyone'."
Children deserve human rights. Pedophiles, rapists, and other types do not.
Hope this helps.
Hi. So this is exactly my original point.
Pedophiles, rapists, serial killers, the most evil people you can imagine are, in fact, still people.
What human rights do you think the government should be able to deny you if you are convicted of the right crime?
No, they're not.
All of them, if we're humoring the idea that your government has your best interests at heart and can be relied upon to do the right thing. Which, lol. Lmao, even.
What you seem to be hung up on is that any crime can be forgiven, which is absolutely insane to me.
*My* point is definitely NOT that any government can always be relied on to do the right thing. That is actually pretty clearly one of the cornerstones of why I think this rhetoric is dangerous. If the government can deny a person a basic human right (access to food, water, breathable air, autonomy over your medical choices) if that government convicts them of the correct crimes- that is OBVIOUSLY a system which is incredibly ripe for corruption and horrific state violence. (Insert the obvious argument against the death penalty here)
But also, this has nothing to do with *forgiveness*. I don't have to "forgive" a person for that person to be *a person.* I don't think that only good people are people. I don't think that your humanity is dependent on your innocence or moral purity, and I think it's actually really dangerous to literally dehumanize people, especially as a way to justify state violence against them.
So, the question for YOU becomes, do you think that there are NO human rights, or do you think that certain crimes make you *legally not human*?
Certain crimes make you legally not human.
Cool. So now, anyone the government wants to get rid (or you know, wildly exploit in any number of ways) of for any reason, the government can accuse, prosecute, and convict of whatever those crimes are. That's a legal mechanism to justify any state violence against any person deemed undesirable.
You must have a lot of faith in the inherent goodness of all governments.
But we're going to have to disagree on that.
Here's something to consider- the atrocities of the American prison system (functional slave labor and all that) aside for the moment - did you know that in the mid 2010s, a tribunal found that the Chinese government was illicitly executing and harvesting organs from prisoners, to then sell those organs to foreigners for transplants. The vast majority of these prisoners being religious minorities, and the conviction rate in China (so the % of people accused of a crime that are found guilty) is more than 99%- suggesting that the opportunities for people to demonstrate their innocence is.....limited.
So. Again. In my ethical/moral framework, making a person's legal status as a human dependent on criminal convictions is....bad.
It's just easier to call you stupid. So I am.
Btw I don't have faith in any government, so you really are if you think that I do.
so you admit that governments will abuse the ability to de-person someone for a crime that anyone could be accused of whether or not they actually committed the crime? it seems like the best solution is to make human rights universal and irrevocable.
