day one post for @/elysian-fawn's SHIFTING SUMMER EXPEDITION - postcard
-> slightly tweaked - i decided to present my friend group rather than write a postcard to them since i'd been meaning to post something like this about them like this for a while!!

--- i met ella before the rest of the girls, earlier in my childhood. growing up, i lived in paris with my mom and brother, but we still pretty regularly visited our family in korea, especially during the winter break. we first met when we were 7, in 2016, her family having moved in next door to mine. she still lived in the us during the year, but, like us, also visited her family for christmas. we started talking one night, when i joined her on a bench in front of our places, comforting her from whatever she had been upset about at the time. i don't have a specific "bff" in the group, i love all of them, but ella is truly the one who knows me the best given the fact she. has known me for the longest amount of time. it's kind of scary but she can read me really easily, and we have this running joke that she can read my mind. of course, it also helps that she's incredibly perceptive and emotionally intelligent, and she is always able to tell my crushes before i'm even aware of them like girl how? 😭 even though she is the oldest of the group, she really doesn't act like it though - not in the way that she's immature but of how young and jovial she seems around us and her loved ones. when you get to know her better you get to learn that she is a really cheerful person. also she is sooo soft like wow i feel really safe around you omg
--- i met ian way later, during the summer of 2023. it was ghe night before newjeans' first music show. when i tell you i was soooo scared for the next day, and this anxiety was keeping me from sleep, so i did the natural thing: i snuck out of our dorm for to buy a few comfort snacks at the convenience shop down the street. i was so embarassed bc i literally had a panic attack in front of the ramyeon aisle, but thankfully, someone came up to me and comforted me: that someone was ian. she stayed with me and comforted me while we had ramyeon together. when the two of us are together, good freaking luck, we're both extroverts and are always down to have fun and be silly and cringey and all that jazz. in the friend group, our personalities are the most alike, and we even share the enfp mbti!! when the group is all out together, we usually are the two who are being told to shut the fuck up 😭😭 (lovingly, of course)
--- my meeting with iroha was more straightforward, due to its professional context. we first met during her time in r u next? the survival show which built illit which took place in early 2024. during round two, one of the units performed attention, and the five of us (newjeans) were invited to give feedback and share our thoughts on the performances of all units (we didn't directly play a part in the eliminations, we shared strengths and weaknesses of the girls). during this time, i didn't really get to properly meet iroha, but after the lineup, we got closer with her being in another girl group under hybe and the two of us being the same age. alongside seonghyeon, iroha is probably the most introverted of the group. like she gets shy easily and it's just so cute omg, i am younger than her but i get such cuteness aggression from her, iroha please let me put you in my pocket and protect. you from all the dangers of the world i love you!!!!! despite her more introvert tendencies, she is so much fun to be around and omg will she roast you, like she will NAWT hold back 😂😂😂😂 please iroha you've killed my ego and pride you can stop now thanks 😂😂😂😂
i was originally the common point between the four of us, but we have all gotten so close it's insane. i love these girls so much, i can always count on them. it's also crazy to me how healthy our friendship is, due to the friendships i've encountered here... but like we all love each other equally, as in there are no preferences or leaders or anything of the sort, the bond we share is so amazing, i really love my girls <333
seonghyeon (13012009), keonho (14022009) ::
--- i met seonghyeon and keonho both in the same way, we were all trainees under hybe. it feels so refreshing to be friends with the two of them, like they are so respectful and mature, they are so amazing omg. it's also so fun to be with them because they aren't afraid to be themselves or to embarass themselves
--- seonghyeon is, as we all know, very introverted, and, like iroha, is quite shy - it's actually really fun to tease him bc he gets flustered so. easily it's also super cute. when ian, keonho and i start acting up a little more, he's more of the type to watch on the sidelines, alongside his fellow introverts ella and iroha. but y'all he is so funny, like he will just randomly speak up and drop these one-liners that will have you rolling on the flooooor 😭😭😭 also his whole nonchalant persona is sooooo performative like fucking shut up mate what are you on??? but actually he is so emotionally intelligent and i really cherish moments between the two of us where we can just talk about anything and everything, those moments are just so relaxing and soft, he's really amazing
--- first things first, keonho is NOT a fucking introvert omg 😭 i mean, i get why he is, and it's much clearer when you don't really know him that way, but around us this guy is a freaking bundle of energy. he's is so incredibly fun to be around though, and he is so so so sweet! every time i embarrass myself (and like actually humiliate, like not the type of purposeful cringe shit i do on the daily) he does this thing where he also embarrasses himself so i don't feel so embarrassed, and he alwayssss joins in on my stupid shenanigans. he is so playful and he is so sassy like mayneee get ur ass out rn. however, keonho is also really sincere and considerate, this man is such a golden retriever i swear
honestly, this friend group is everything i could ask for and so much more. i feel so safe around them and so accepted i couldn't be happier with them. it's so refreshing to be with them, you truly couldn't look fpr better if you tried: these people are the kindest, most considerate group i have ever met. it also feels so amazing given how i can just be myself around them without the fear of judgement from them
(i also didn't mention it earlier but we all go to hanlim arts together so school is also so much fun!!)
