Also something I forgot to note but that ties in with your question: my oversimulation prevents me from doing simple things sometimes. Too much sensory stimulation can lead me to dissociate or panic. I can’t hold down a proper job, I can’t even go to school. So yeah, drawbacks indeed.

I’d say that heightened senses do already provide good intuition because you’re more aware of your surroundings. I do believe it could awaken the sixth sense (like they do in The Secrets of The Immortal Nicholas Flamel) but it should hinder them somehow, as heightened senses are very overwhelming.

Like, as an autistic person, I have heightened senses myself and it’s honestly not at all fun - it’s exhausting. So your character should learn to control their senses. I’d suggest giving the aforementioned series a read too, since it deals with that really well.

That mostly depends on your character’s personality and history. Let me take one of mine for example.

Ira is an OC of mine who is a representation of the sin Wrath. This means that he’s very strong in battle, and his initiative is very high (because he takes pleasure in giving someone a good beating), but this also means his strategy isn’t as good, and also that he has little to no magic skills to compensate for his strength.

Agility - 6/10Power - 9/10Teamwork - 2/10Initiative - 10/10Strategy - 1/10Magic - 0/10

As you can see, his stats are balanced - he has three skills that have points of over five, and three skills that are five or below.

What I’m trying to say is that, unless your character is a robot or very heavily trained, they won’t be good at everything. Finding their strengths and weaknesses is where you start.

Is your character a hothead and do they act on impulse? Strength and initiative are their strongest points. Is your character calculating and do they think before they act? Strategy and teamwork might be their strengths, but try to balance that out with a lower battle skill point.

Plot first in most cases, you need to tune your characters to your story, afterall.

Illogical relationship, making canon characters OOC.

An interesting case should have the following elements:- Good story- Good plot twists- Funny witnesses with unique quirks (bonus points if their name is a pun)

You should go over some of the existing cases and see what their stories are. Usually, they’re all murders, but The Stolen Turnabout is entirely different, which starts out with theft instead of murder. You could tinker with the concept of a different federal crime turning into a murder case.

Good plot twists are essential to an Ace Attorney case; they’re usually ridiculous until you come up with the right piece of evidence.

ALL Ace Attorney witnesses lie. That’s a big character flaw in and of itself, but they stem from multiple sources; fear, conceitedness, vanity, covering up your guilty ass, etc. Your first bet would be to create a character as you normally would, and then place them in a situation like a trial and see how they react.

As for the characters, your best bet would be to go over other cases and observe their personalities. Write down characteristics they exhibit (like Gumshoe’s “pal”, or Pearl being obsessed with Narumayo) and go from there. That’s really all there is to it.

I might suggest cutting down on the amount of languages as it’s unlikely that most languages have survived over time and were most likely lost or combined into the language spoken inside the walls, but this is a minor thing.

Okay, so far so good, if he’s a slacker it makes sense his titan kill count would be low.

Is there a specific reason he dislikes Alexander, who is Alexander?

Bad Habit(s): He tends to do something idiotic, A WHOLE LOT. (He's trying not to do be an idiot because he's in the Survey Corps) A bit careless.

It’s good he’s trying to better himself, but being even a little careless in the Survey Corps is likely to lead to an early death, so be careful to not give him plot armour.

Hobbies: Writing A Book, Training, Watching the Stars, Watching the Sunset, spending time with his lover and best friend, (If they'll ever see each other, because his lover is in the Military Police while his best friend is in the Stationary Guard.), and practicing riding a damn horse and 3D gear.

Fear(s): Tight spaces, Titans (But has to cope), Not seeing his close ones again, to fail his uncle's wish.

These fears are all pretty understandable, but I’m curious as to if there’s a specific reason why he dislikes tight spaces.

Personality: Friendly, opens up when you get to know him, idiot, helpful (but he'll choose only who'll he help.) Arrogant, very judgmental to those he doesn't know. He's only protective to those he loves. And he's a bit selfish and a bit serious.

This personality could use some more detail, but for what it is it’s not too bad.

I imagine he’d get in a lot of trouble for messing around with a dangerous weapon, so it’s good that his actions actually had repercussions

Health- Memory: No problem Sight: Nah Mental: He has a sudden panic attack whenever he's stuck. (In all forms of stuck, tight spaces, or even puzzles.) Physical: He's fine, other than bruises and a bit of scratch marks from the expeditions? He's fine. Sleep patterns: 6-7 hours. He misses his old 8-10 hours of sleep.

I’m not an expert on sleeping or sleep schedules but I’m pretty sure he should be getting more than six hours of sleep.

Okay, these stats aren’t too bad, but I think his intelligence stat should be lowered if he really is an idiot.

It would be good to have a little info on these characters since they’re all OCs.

History/Life: (Augh summary)

He lived in a protective life from his parents. They don't want their child to join the Military because their son might die. They taught Elliot to farm, to write, and to do household chores. It wasn't until his uncle Vitali came into Elliot's home. Ever since that day, Elliot dreamed to be a survey corps which got his parents more worried than ever.

What exactly did his uncle do that made Elliot want to join the military?

Until one day in the year of 844, when Elliot and his cousin Arvo saw Vitali is going on a expedition. Vitali bade good-bye to the two boys and went outside the wall. The two boys waited for their hero to return, but he didn't. Weeks has passed and there is no sign of their hero, until it was confirmed that everyone in the 34th expedition died. Shocked to hear the news, Elliot was depressed about the loss of his hero. A month later of his uncle's death, he finally got the courage to enter the military not for revenge, but to finish his uncle's will.

You mentioned his parents didn’t want him to join the military, did they try to stop him? Or were they too consumed by grief?

When he entered the 106th trainee's squad a few years later, he met two people. Eduard Amsel, who came from the same district as him and Lilia Colombera who lives in Wall Sina. Those three had a rocky start, but they became the best of friends. In the same time, Eduard and Elliot fell in love with each other and they became lovers in a few years.

During the time when they'll pick a military branch, many students were driven away by the Survey Corps. Elliot and a few others stayed. He knows that Lilia won't join the Survey Corps because she thinks its a stupid branch so she joined the Stationary Guard. Then he saw his lover Eduard is pulling someone else's hand and goes away. He can hear his lover is calling him but he's referring to the stranger that Eduard is pulling. He knows Eduard's eye sight is pretty bad, but he didn't think it's THAT bad! He wants to join his lover Eduard, but he has to fulfill his uncle's wish first. And that wish is to Serve Humanity and Find Peace.

So, if Eduard has such horrible eyesight why is he allowed in the military or at least wearing glasses?

Note that I'm planning this character doesn't meet the canon characters. It's like the same world, but there are no canon characters. The canon characters would be replaced by original characters.

Alexander is like Levi in the story but really different. I based him off from Levi so that I can slowly remove Levi's personality little by little and place it with new personalities. Alexander would be their Humanity's Strongest in this world where canon characters don't exist, since I don't like to write about canon characters in fear of making them OOC. There would be like a Original Character Counterpart of Hanji, Mike, and so on. But the story won't progress the same as the Manga or anime, it has it's own different story.

If written right I could see this idea being interesting, and I understand worrying that characters are OOC.

Overall, Elliot isn’t a bad character, there’s a few things that could be improved but not many.

Now this is in no way done, just a preliminary version. The character is first encountered in 1976 and ends around 2003.

Name: Sabrina  Does she have a last name or have you just not gotten to that bit yet? If you haven’t that’s fine.  Nickname: princess (Sabrina means princess in Irish apparently) Who gives the nickname? Is it from a specific nickname only for her parents or someone else? Age: 19-25 (as in first encounter she’s 19)

Species: mutant Gender: female Nationality: Irish Life story: Sabrina’s parents were supporters of the provisional republican army (IRA). Sabrina’s early life were filled with catholic school and raids by police (this is in the 1970s where it would happen if you advertise with your support for IRA) her abilities manifest when she was about fourteen, she had already noticed that she could manipulate water (she’s very fond of anything to do with water) during one of the last few outbreaks of violence between the police and the IRA she found a small animal with injuries and while cleaning its wounds she thought hard on how much she wanted the animal to be healed and to her astonishment she saw the water heal it. (She can not heal everything or use it all the time I’m thinking once a month in the beginning and then once a day later on) 

I don’t know anything about the IRA so it’s not my place to say anything about it other than I think that’s an interesting idea for a backstory and would consistent expanding it (though I’m sure you already are).

Just a few questions for you to add a bit more to Sabrina, how does she react to being able to manipulate water? As well as heal the animal? I also understand that this character is new and improving, but a suggestion withing the healing is that she finds the water healing herself before anything else.  You said you’re thinking about how often to be able to heal things, which I would assume that it’s hard for her to do? I feel like it would be a bit more of a slow and understanding learning on how her powers work if it works on her first before on someone else? However, if you like her healing the animal, go ahead and use that because it’s your story.

Powers: can manipulate water and later on any liquid. Can use water to heal.

Does this mean she is able to manipulate the water and blood in people’s bodies? A neat trick. With the healing again, do you plan on making her a healer based character? What does she do if there isn’t any bodies of water around? Can she bring it down from the sky? 

Family: both parents are alive and lives in Ireland

Any siblings? Other family members? Or just not really important?   

Traits/habits: fiddling with jewellery. Tapping her feet on the floor. 

Good traits- faithful, confident and rational. 

Bad traits- jealousy, sore loser, stubborn and vengeful.

Again, I understand that this is just a skeleton for a character but personality will need a bit more muscle on it. A real and human personality can’t be limited to 7 words. Who is she faithful to? Her family? Any friends?  What is she confident about? Her powers? Intelligence?

Rational and Sore Loser do conflict a little which is good. It’s good to have some conflicting traits (though not too many that it makes the character unbalanced). But with the two, how does she react when they clash? If she loses a game, and she knows that she’s lost it fair and square what does she do?

Just a bit more work needed on the personality, because no matter how cool her powers are, the personality is what makes the readers care.

Hobbies: bird watching, reading 

Again with adding a bit more. 

Motivation: safety, power (influence)

One of her motivators being power is cool because it’s not something that you see often. However, what type of power does she want? Her actual water powers, does she want them to grow and master them? Does she want power over people? If so, you 100% need to add about that in personality. Is she cunning? Power hungry? Ruthless for it? 

Hair: medium red/brown hair, braided Eyes: green/blue

Again, just adding more. Height, skin colour, any freckles, ect.

Just a note, being naive is not a personality, it’s a trait which makes up a personality. I’m sure you know this, but a well-written character will need to have other traits as well. Sometimes they can conflict as well.The dictionary says that someone that is naive “showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgement.” I think that sums it up well. 

A few examples of someone that is naive is usually easily manipulated, believes things with little to no proof, or believes/hopes for that something will just work out well.Children are often very naive, an example is that as a child I was told that there were crocodiles in the pond near our house so I would stay away from it and not accidentally fall in and drown. Being a child, I believe it, despite having no proof or anything that there actually was.

Another example would be I sometimes get called naive for believing in things such as equality for all, something that I know most likely will never happen, at least not in my lifetime. 

My name Is Anakineatslivebugs and I’m a new mod.  I love OCs and have plenty of my own so I understand what it’s like to be uncertain of them being unbalanced and a bad character. I believe (for the most part) that there is no such thing as a bad character, only ones that need improving on or to be more balanced. I have characters I’ve had for 5+ years and am still improving them, character improvement never has an end, it’s just something you keep working on. 

For the things that I’m able to review on;

Anything to do with Star wars, Fallout 3, NV, 4 Elder Scrolls, The Walking dead,  Asoiaf/GOT Marvel/X-men Harry Potter, Supernatural (it was many years ago) Slight understanding of LOTR and the Hobbit

I’m sure there’s other stuff however, I don’t watch any anime (other than I was forced to watch the whole of Death Note) and doubt I ever will. I only say this because alot of the submission we currently have are from anime series and I have no idea what any of it means so i wouldn’t be the best person to ask for help about it.
