Fear Not Ourselves Alone - “Whitewashed”
Fear Not Ourselves Alone - “Type B”
Hey! We’re back in some small capacity. We filmed a session with Fear Not Ourselves Alone and we’re really excited to share these beautiful songs with you throughout the week.
Band: Corridor
Band Location: Montreal, Canada
Why we like it: Corridor are a really interesting band from Montreal. It’s hard to really pigeonhole them into a genre as they play a mix of post punk, psych rock, sunshine pop and art rock. They sing entirely in French but if you’re as fluent in riffs as I am (I didn’t get less corny over the past year of not posting I’m not sorry for that joke) then you’ll definitely appreciate Corridor. Be sure to also check out the fantastic song “Deux Cœurs” here featuring Halo Maud on vocals.
Where to listen/buy: Bandcamp (be sure to pre-order the repress of Supermercado!)
Band: PHERN
Band Location: Montreal, Québec
Why we like it: Phern is a band I’ve been really into lately. They play a sort of weirdo rock ‘n roll. They’ve also got a bunch of great videos to go along with their music. I luckily stumbled across their stuff on Spotify so you can hear a lot of it there too! Hope to hear a lot more out of them soon.

Band: Hellier Ulysses
Band Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Why we like it: Hellier Ulysses has been high on my radar since their self titled album came out in 2013. Stylistically in a time where a lot of really cool music is coming out Hellier Ulysses plays with experimental grace and a willingness to be different. Ranging from inspirations such as improv jazz guitarists such as Fred Frith to really whatever music they can get into their ears, Hellier Ulysses is one of my favorite young bands out there right now.
Where to listen: Bandcamp
Band: Loving
Band Location: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Why we like it: Loving are a bubble pop/psych pop band that put out one of the most underrated records of 2016. On first listen the guitars reminded me of Ambivalence Avenue by Bibio but as a whole it sounds like early Dr. Dog and Good Morning. This appears to be the first release from the trio but we certainly hope we hear a lot more from them soon.
Where to listen/buy: Bandcamp
Band: Michael Seyer
Band Location: Gardena, California
Why we like it: Michael Seyer is an artist that I can’t stop listening to. In a day and age where indie bands like Homeshake and Bane’s World are on the up and up, you can’t leave out an artist like Michael Seyer in the same conversation. He recently released his EP, “Greetings!” and has added four more solid tracks to his already concrete discography.
Where to get it: Bandcamp
Band: Chamber
Band location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Why we like it: CHAMBER is a band that is fairly new to me. Their latest release "agony, always." is pretty impressive.
My favorite song of the two would be "Agony." The riffs are impressive but not overly busy and the drummers does a great job of keeping the track moving. Their overall feel brings to mind bands like ED GEIN or OF FEATHER AND BONE. The grooves on these two tracks will make you want to bring the mosh especially the ending of "Always.".
I'd recommend these guys to fans of AXIS, ED GEIN, or the current "Blasphemour Records" roster. This is grindcore that has some serious Mathcore/Metalcore leanings. Listen to them here and crack some skulls.
Where to get it: Bandcamp

Band: Bane’s World
Band location: Long Beach, California
Why we like it: Thanks to this blizzard I have come out of blog retirement for the 1000th time. Bane’s World is the solo project of Shane Blanchard. Zach just sent me this album a few days ago and dang I can’t stop listening to it. I don’t know much about this person but they sound heavily influenced by Homeshake, Mac DeMarco, Jerry Paper and Maston. It’s up on bandcamp for the very friendly price of pay what you want so take a listen!
Where to listen/buy: Bandcamp
Shouldn't Bassett be punished instead of the whole band? 5 people's livelihoods were ruined because of one man's bullshit. Not defending Nick, he's trash and needs to go.
I thought the same for a bit but Whirr has been at this for a long time now. I can’t assume positive intent on this one. They knew what he was doing and didn’t kick him out or get him to stop posting hateful comments. If you keep working with someone who is problematic you’re only encouraging that behavior and that shouldn’t be tolerated.
These are finally in. We are shipping tonight and tomorrow and have listed more online!
We started a record label and we’re very excited to tell you that our first release I Clung To You Hoping We’d Both Drown by Flatsound finally came in! The record is a double LP and comes in a beautiful gatefold jacket designed by Benjamin Kinzer. In celebration of this and due to limited numbers of the color variant, we decided to throw a little contest. You can win one of these records and a t shirt of our label! All you have to do is reblog this post and follow us. We’ll announce who the winner is in a week.
Thank you for your support!
The contest ends in two days! Reblog and get a chance at winning a copy of the record. There are only 4 of the color vinyl left in stock so if you don’t wanna take a chance buy one today!
Sorry for being late but we’ve chosen a winner! We’ve sold out of the clear and black swirl variant but still have plenty of black vinyl. Don’t miss out and order one right here
Band: Lindberg & Family
Band location: Tucson, Arizona
Why we like it: Lindberg & Family is the solo project of Zach Winans. Zach started this blog with me and we went on to start a band together. On this album he mixes the beach pop he had gotten so good at writing with some psychedelic tones. The result is an excellent 11 track album. It’s on bandcamp for the really dang low price of one dollar. Download it today!

Band: Cousin Brian
Album: Closer To Dog
Why we like it: Cousin Brian is a band that I feel summarizes the essence of summer. They released an EP in 2010, their first album in 2012 and are releasing their next album, Closer To Dog, as soon as they can find a distro/label. I’ve had the luxury to be able to listen to it in full and it is a great continuation to a discography of the summeriest of summer jams. Don’t miss out on this one, and also don’t do yourself the disservice of not listening to their older albums either. I picked up the vinyl of their first and I got a bunch of cool artwork as well as a big clump of hair sealed in a plastic sleeve (not joking). This album is lined with jangly riffs and equally catchy vocals. If you’re going to skip any album/band, don’t make it this one.
