I was here in the before times, I was a gingerhaze fan for broship of the rings, read Nimona as it came out in episodes here on tumblr, bought several copies of the graphic novel etc. so I consider myself a hardcore fan.

We had a watch party when the Nimona movie came out, and IT'S FUCKING GREAT, we have watched it every day since and intend to keep up the streak as long as possible.

Anyway you should watch it and when you do, look out for the easter egg of the original style Nimona which appears near the end, when I saw it I was like "MY NIMONA!" which immediately became set to the tune of 'My Sharona' in my head.

I have chronic inability to decide, so two alternative versions. I basically threw a bucket of colors for the second one 😭 kinda fun:

over time, nimona sheds this skin as she becomes the monster and manifests the creature she’s been made into in her isolation and anger and grief but i definitely agree with the reading that her pink forms, tied to the pink haired punk rock teen vibe, are supposed to lighten the transformation, make it seem less intimidating, more pastel and childish and fun. i also remember nd stevenson answering an ask about the purple hair a long time ago and him saying that the purple hair was supposed to clash with the color matching ballister and nimona had previously had and show the fracturing of their dynamic so that’s another hit.

there’s so many details in both stories to dive into and so much care put into both worlds, no matter which one you prefer. and in a way, nimona’s “monster” form is kind of the entire opposite of her friendly yet bloodthirsty pink forms, showing us her as something entirely different and unveiling the centuries of pain she has been holding.
