appearance.
Koda is 5â˛7 with a fairly athletic build. They did track in school but gave it up with they moved out at 16 (more on that later), but have kept up running over the years along with a bit of weights to stay in shape.
They have brown eyes and light, short brown hair. No tattoos (yet!), and no other distinguishing marks.Â
Their hair is short, and always has been. If you want to get specific about what kind of Brigette Lundy-Paine hair era I picture them at currently (and most of their life probs), its the fluffy sort of light brown action point era
They do not wear make up. They tried it once for a middle school dance and never again.
style.
Koda has always been a tomboy, ever since they were a kid they leaned towards more masculine clothing and styles. As they have gotten older and come more into their identity and gained some confidence, they play around a bit with style. They enjoy a good crop top or shorts, they like a shirt that makes them laugh. But end of the day they love a masculine fit (and not standing out too much) and they know they canât go wrong with a good flannel. And those staples are almost all of their tiny wardrobe.
They only wear sneakers or boots and between the two they prefer sneakers. Opting for converse hi-tops most days of the week.
They have a black carabiner on their keys and it is often hooked onto their belt loop ...... for convenience .... obviously ........

family.
okie dokie lets go
The Reids are notable members of the Lockhorn community but not always for the best of reasons. Definitely not recently.Â
Darla Reid, Kodaâs mother, has been largely absent since Koda was a toddler. She would come in and out of town for different lengths of time, always intending to stay each time she returned but never actually doing it. Over time the visits got shorter and further apart. The last time Darla was in Lockhorn County was nearly 8 years ago. Rumour has it she not only has a new family, but has also found Christ in New Mexico.
Koda is not close with their mom, and barely acknowledges that they ever had one. When they do acknowledge her, itâs usually with bitter tone.
Roy Reid, Kodaâs father, was once a very active and very beloved member of the Hazzard community and the Lockhorn community too. And to a certain degree he still is, many people have fond memories of Roy. He was once friendly and helpful and giving. But itâs harder and harder to remember that Roy. The last year and a half Roy has slid from being a functioning alcoholic to town menace. Itâs hard to remember someone fondly when theyâre cussing you out after walking into you.
Koda and Royâs relationship is incredibly complicated. If I were to summarise it in a word, it would be begrudging. They were very close when Koda was young, and both of them struggle to let that go even though they have had so many issues over the years. They fought a lot in Kodaâs teenage years (due to Koda being incredibly angry, rebellious, and shitty teenager but ya know ...... teenager things <3), resulting in Koda leaving home in the heat of a moment decision mid-fight at 16. Nowadays the majority of their relationship is Koda trying to avoid serving Roy at work (and failing), and bailing him out of lock up and taking him home when he goes too far.
As mentioned, Koda is not close with their extended family. They avoid any mention of Darla so Darlaâs brother is someone they do not associate with (and Darlaâs brother believes that Roy and Koda are to blame for his sister leaving so like, messy yk). And their living aunt moved to Prosper so fuck that uppity bitch <3
friends.
Has run with the burnouts and âthe wrong crowdâ for many, many years. Its with the outcasts and the weirdos that they feel most accepted and most free to express themself so thatâs who they are drawn to, damn public opinion! They skate, and smoke, and drink, and mess around a lot with this group, but to a degree they are always guarded. A lot of themself is for themself, they donât want to show too much of themself and suddenly be ostracised.Â
They have hung out with this group since early high school, before that they were very much a loner and getting bullied for you know dressing like a boy and not being feminine etc etc homophobia in the 90s ⨠in a small town ⨠yâall get it. Not that it stopped once they had friends, but it was like, easier to deal with lmao and they had more confidence to stand up to it. Confidence that has definitely carried into adulthood.
Koda is an extrovert, definitely. They are very charismatic, very friendly, very easy to get along with (if you donât mind their entire vibe to begin with) but to say anyone knows all that much about them personally is sort of a stretch. They are very private, and are only genuinely close with a very, very small number of people. The boisterous personality is but a front, everyone!! Itâs a front!!
I donât have much more to say here because it will change and depend on connections etc but its important to me that you all know that they are the sort of dumbass to jump off a roof at a party. Jackass hasnât aired yet but know that they would get far too much inspiration from it and think itâs the best thing ever. They do a lot of stupid, reckless, adrenaline junkie things.Â
living situation.
Koda has moved a bit around Hazzard since they moved out at 16. Currently they live by themself in a trailer on the very edge of Hazzard. Itâs a blue-grey sort of colour and wonât go find a model because I love myself. They have lived in it, and in that location for the last couple of years and have put a lot of love into it. They donât allow many people to visit it because it is very much their space and their safe space.Â
Previous to their current trailer they lived in the trailer park for a couple of years. They bought their current trailer off of someone living there. The trailer park was good for a while but being in close proximity to so many people wasnât really for them. They couldnât make that place a home. And to make it worse, they were often targeted at the trailer park. Being a young person, and a young vulnerable person they had their home broken into multiple times. They also had the outside of their trailer defaced, mostly with eggs, and then once painted with slurs. Only once because that was the event that finally caused them to leave the park.
And before that, they lived at their family home (technically they were briefly homeless/couch surfing but yk). A small, very humble building in the middle of Hazzard. Koda visits the home often, even now, but they do not ever stay long. They are either taking their dad home, or getting him groceries. Thatâs sort of the extent of the connection they have to that house anymore.
work.
Koda works at The Windy Shot Bar and Diner as a bartender, and they have worked there for years. Obviously the bartender gig has only been since they turned 21 but previously theyâve worked as a busboy/dishwasher, and even working a little in the kitchen before they went behind the bar.
They got the job initially as someone doing Roy a favour, whether or not the regret that is debatable. Koda is a decent employee. But theyâre Koda. So theyâre a little crass, sometimes they make too many jokes, theyâve broken a glass or two, theyâre a non binary burnout lesbian in a small town. But theyâre charming, theyâre easy to talk to, they know how to serve a beer and keep the tv showing the game. So some days theyâre securely employed and others theyâre one wrong move away from being kicked out the door.Â
They like their job for the most part. Itâs easy, itâs entertaining, and itâs a job that isnât destroying their body in the mines so theyâll take it. They have sort of conflicted feelings since it is also their dadâs drinking spot, but they try not to let those feelings impact their paycheque.
school.
Koda was ... not a great student, and they definitely did not like school.
As touched on before they struggled a bit in school because they were picked on. They didnât have many friends and they dressed like a little boy and until they got angry and made friends with the other outcasts (read, the burnouts) they were an easy target. After they made those friends they were still an easy target, but they at least fought back.
As far as grades, they were average. Nothing horrible but nothing amazing either. Sophomore and junior years they didnât do great because of the struggle with their living situation. But not so bad that they had to repeat. Theyâre smart, just not made for school.
They ran track for most of their time in school but quit after they left home. It was simply too much to juggle and it was also something their dad really supported, so fuck it!
aspirations.
Koda is not the sort of person to really have aspirations. They are very much a day by day sort of person. They donât know what tomorrow is going to bring, but itâs not going to matter if they donât make it through today first.
They have dreams. Dreams that others might consider aspirations. But Koda has received a couple too many kicks to the back of the knee in their life to believe that those dreams are achievable, or even a little bit possible.
rivalry.
Koda loves Hazzard in the same way that they hate Hazzard. They know it, they grew up there, they love the people from there, itâs as much a part of them as the blood in their veins. But they also know it would take a miracle for them to truly be themself there.Â
When they were younger, that fact made them hate Hazzard. It made them angry that this town that had such a strong community would outcast them for things they couldnât change. As they have gotten older they have come to accept that Hazzard wonât ever change for them. It would never celebrate them, but maybe it wouldnât kill them. They couldnât leave (for financial reasons and also a deep attachment to the town and community) so they had to come to a place where it was enough. It was liveable. They could survive here. Maybe they could even be happy.Â
When it comes to the rivalry specifically, they are a very proud Hazzardian. Mostly they joke about it, most times to upset people who are proud to be from Prosper, but they do really believe that any Hazzardian is worth ten Prospites.
