“Maybe?” Though Briana couldn’t help but let her thoughts wander, if Odessa had then she wouldn’t have had the chance to see her again. It had been a while since the Hufflepuff had actually managed to get the other witch to partake in a conversation with her, this had probably been the most the two of them had spoken in over a year. “Though I’m not sure you’ve ever let others push you away from doing or going where you want. I don’t see how a date should be much different.” She smirked finding herself teasing the witch, though not completely able to meet her eyes. Her ex’s question had the smile falling from her lips and a blush to sweep across her cheeks. “No.” The reply fell from her lips with a shake of her head. “At least not anymore.”

Odessa listened to her words, and it was clear that Briana wasn’t quite aware that it wasn’t the whole truth. “I suppose you’re right.” She said regardless and shrugged. “And I guess a date wasn’t much different.” Odessa was sat in the bar regardless of the fact it was Valentine’s Day, after all. She didn’t much care that she was alone, but she didn’t much like the PDA going on, either. The brunette lifted a brow at her comment and tilted her head slightly. “They didn’t show?” She asked, genuinely curious. Odessa couldn’t help but feel both somewhat sad for the witch, but also relieved. 

“I don’t know whether to be proud because you know me so well, or hurt because you judge me so harshly.”

“Oh, well I wouldn’t want to hurt you.” She said, sarcasm dripping from her words. “You make it hard not to know you.”

Briana’s whole body tensed at the sound of her voice, her muscles and shoulders tightened as she froze in place. It was probably the one voice that was the last one she had wanted to hear or witness the humiliation that Briana was feeling. “Odessa.” The name fell from her lips in a whisper as her cheeks coloured. “I– uh, what are you doing here?”

The brunette watched as her ex-girlfriend practically froze up after she spoke to her. She didn’t realise she’d have such an affect on her. “Getting a drink, like most other people here.” She said plainly before looking up at the witch, her gaze softening a moment.

“We can only continue to throw dirty looks in their direction and complaints of displeasure. But, of course, those are pointless too if they pay no attention.” Lyra laughed, shaking her head as a slight smile crossed her face. “In my opinion, Valentine’s Day was only created for the couples to be able to rub their happiness in the faces of single people. Though- Who said we can’t be single and happy?” A slight smirk crossed her lips as she then shrugged her shoulders, fingers wrapping around the glass in front of her, lifting it to her lips to take a sip.

“Can’t imagine they pay attention to the likes of us when they’re so busy with their tongues down one another’s throats.” The brunette shrugged -- truthfully, it was the public displays of affection and the bright red around every corner that bothered Odessa about Valentine’s Day. The fact it existed seemed a little irrelevant when one could go on a date any time they wanted, but she wasn’t inherently against the idea -- just the practice. “I think you might have just said that.” She pointed out the slight contradiction in the other’s words.

“If only there could be a permanent ban on PDA until the big day.” Lyra chuckled, eyes rolling once again.

“I’m afraid that would only benefit us, and they wouldn’t want that.” The brunette pointed out with a sigh. “The unspoken rule about PDA doesn't seem to apply to early February.”
