I honestly can't get enough of drawing Jim and Claire 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Starts off strong. Actively promising and wishing to stay best friends, specifically, forever. Nice, nice
Neither can Din😏
Excuse me? Platonic yearning? In my 2021 animated movie?!?😍✨
Bro WHAT
Get his amatonormative ass! Also, they just happened to specifically use the phrase special bond, which is a important part of the definition of a very specific arospec identity??
So we were thinking they were gonna give us an aro king, but they decided to go the demiromantic route instead? That’s cool, that’s cool.
Demiros, how we feelin?
Feeling Good as a shipper!
But I will say that doesn’t take away from anything. Din didn’t need it to end up being a romance. Li Na likely didn’t need that either. It just happened to work out that they liked each other romantically.
It’s a good thing there were only 3 major Rugrats movies..
Because they would have surely died in a 4th one.
Wolves in the woods..
Mecha battles in Paris..
Submerged underwater with a brain damaged man..
No; they wouldn’t have made it.
Ballerina/Leap! character appreciation: Victor Hubert
Yeah, right, he’s another cliché character and one mostly hated by many of the fandom. I’ve heard from many that he’s annoying, that he’s a nuisance and that he doesn’t aports nothing to the plot. But I feel that he’s an underrated character that sometimes we don’t see more of him but only his appearance.
I think maybe for two kids, to create a very early romance it’s almost a crime. It’s a movies actual tendence that annoyes me very much because I see it out of place for terms of age. I don’t deny that in kids maybe there’s a reciprocal attraction but I think that this attraction gets to grow through time until it’s maturation. For the moment in a kid is the less important thing to develop.
And yet, I like this couple. Call me a cursy and sentimental girl, but for the first moment I met Victor in the trailers I fall in love with him and found him very endearing and sweet (maybe cute too).
For me he isn’t a nuisane. I think that Félicie needed a companion along her story and here we got Victor. And I think there couldn’t be better company for her than him.
I get very fond with him by his devotion to Félicie. He always watchs her, takes care of her even when she’s not looking, he even wants Félicie out of troubles, even if he wants to have fun with her, when she starts to dance and to throw dishes in the air. And well, for the first time one can ask: What did Victor found on Félicie to fall so deep in love with her? I can answer: the same thing everyone get fond with her. Her spirit, her smile, her joy, her companion, even if she sometimes is rude. Only that in Victor Félicie’s personality hits him harder than to the others, maybe by his soft and warm heart.
From him we can say he was good-hearted, in my country we would say: “It has a chicken heart” (literally with Victor). Indeed, he was noble and very protective. I think he was like the mother hen of the other kids from the orphanage. After all we see him in front of the line when they were checked, maybe leading the line. But yes, we can’t deny that his good heart sometimes make him take the risk of become easily manipulated and abused, mostly by his friend. And well, that in a courtship is dangerous.
But also, in a hard enviroment like an orphanage, like a way to protect and boost others, Victor has a rogue, but in a way noble sense of humour. He maybe has a gift to find fun and to make others to find it. What would be of us humans in our daily confrontation to life’s struggles without a little of fun? I thought that in the movie, Victor would be nothing but accidents and injuries, but no. I found his jokes ingenious but also very noble. He doesn’t want to hurt nobody’s feelings. When he points out that every time Félicie lies, her nose shivers, he smiles amused, but also with a bit of endearment, like every brother many of us have that wants to make fun of us, but only by the reason that he love us. I always laugh to tears every time I see Victor telling the mother superior how superior does she looks, and every time I see him telling Odette that he loves her apron, like if that was a proper flirting.
He is also a free soul. Someone who knows how to live life to the limits, to enjoy every life pleasures and take advantages of the fate and luck. He is enthusiastic, optimistic, the one who inspires Félicie to take risks and chase her dreams. When the mother superior tells her that there’s no place for dreams, Victor encourages her to take the leap. He enjoys to be himself and he doesn’t mind from where he comes. When I first saw the movie, in the theaters was reproduced with my language dub, and I get shocked the scene when Victor, despite having been abused by Félicie’s whims, represses her her behavior with him, because, in the latin spanish dub after Victor says to her: “Every since you stare at the Opera who are you trying to be?” he says: “Have dignity” I was impressed. I got the feeling that for Victor, even when he was pretending and lying to Félicie about his situation, he wasn’t denying from where he belongs. For him dignity wasn’t your position but what you are inside. He like to stay with the people like him, like Mathurin.
Of course he was pretentious and priggish, and he thought that he could won Félicie’s heart with compliments and gifts, but he also had his lesson. To underestimate Félicie’s preference on men was like a cold shower for him.
But well, even if he was offended, he still bothered to fix Félicie’s music box. He was offended, but not because he hates her, but because he loves her. That’s why, even hurted, delivers her her music box.
Another thing: he’s not an idiot. He’s very intelligent, witty and smart (well, sort of, we can’t forgive him the chicken wings after all). He has a brilinat mind and he also has great ideas. That his clumsy body doesn’t reach his mind hability is another thing. And maybe, th reason why he’s injuried it’s because he maybe has the head on the clouds. He’s distracted and dopey, but only because he’s always thinking and never watching to where he goes.
I think the reason he wants to be an inventor it’s because he want to create dreams. In the last of Miyasaki movies “The wind rises” the main character Jiro, who wants to become an aeronautic engineer, meets Caproni in one of his dreams. Caproni says to him “Airplanes are beautiful dreams. We the engineers make them a reality”. Victor wants to make the humanity’s dream a reality, he wants the people who are near him happy and achieve success, starting with Félicie. Meanwhile Félicie is usually selfish and blind, Victor, in a way a little blind too, is very selfless. But he isn’t only brains, he is also heart, and his heart is the engine that makes work his mind to create things that help to solve humanity’s problems.
He has a great imagination, he dreams, and dreams big. He’s perseverant, and, like a true scientific, he learns from his defects and from his mistakes by the method of trial and error. He never gave up his chicken wings, even if they were smashed, he continued to find where it was the mistake and tried to solve it. He’s a true visionary and he always looks to the future. And, he’s not the cliché, nerd and with big glasses inventor. He reminds me of Varian from the Tangeld series (before he became bad).
The only thing that annoys me are all the disgusting, bad jokes like the fart one, and that they turn him into a humorous element, make him trip on, hit with everything and, like my brother says: “Oh, the script is calling me! I have to disappear magically from the screen!” when he falls into the boat or is pulled by a carriage. I find it a little cruel to injury him always.
But anyway, because of his good heart and dispossition, because his compassion, I love him. (not so much as Mérante but, whatever). If you don’t, I don’t care.
Love him!

Félicie’s music box discovering!
When you edit a movie for a fan music video, is an occupational hazard to find the most hilarious random shots or the most interesting ones.
The last one happened to me recenty, while editing B/L! for a fan music video. And in this case it was about Félicie’s beloved music box.
You’ll see, most time of the movie, we see the same doll: a more likely wooden ballerina with a long blue dress.
Even the scene in which we see Victor has fixed the box, it’s the same doll:
But then, when he finally delivers it to Félicie, the dress changes for a white ballet tutu:
Do you see it? Here’s the last time we see that the music box appears in the movie:
This made me blow many questions…
What happened there? It seems like Victor decided to change the dress…Why?
Does he did it after Félicie left him that evening, before the Eiffel tower date, to impress Félicie?
Does Félicie noticed it? Because, after all she may know the box as the palm of her hand.
Why did that doesn’t upset her?
It was for a merchandise purpose? (The box that is selled have this particular doll)
I have a little theory:
Maybe after Félicie and Victor argued in the Eiffel tower, Victor was so mad with her that in some moment that night he throwed so hard the box that he broke it again…including the doll’s dress.
He would be so regretful later, when his tantrum is all gone, that he decided to fix it. Because, after all he still loves Félicie.
My next question…Victor, didn’t you thought into become more a toy maker than an inventor? How does he was able to put another dress or to shape a new one? Or maybe he didn’t, he fixed from the start the broken arm…? How does he knows how to make wooden dolls…? Wait…? If it’s another doll?
The Ending of Ballerina (2016) vs Leap! (2017)
In regards to Ballerina/Leap!, may we please talk about their version of the real life Rosita Mauri and the ending for a minute?
Though we don’t see this version of Rosita much in the film, there’s one little detail about her in the Leap! dub that I think was improved upon there, rather than Ballerina’s English dub from Canada.
And it all has to do with this moment:
In the original English dub from Canada, once she places Clara’s tiara on Felicie’s head, she tells her, ‘let’s set Paris on fire.’ The curtain rises, Felicie takes a breath, and they dance in front of an audience full of people. Pretty good ending, yes? Felicie’s practice, talent, and technique pay off and we finally see her fulfill her life long dream with a seasoned professional. We then cut to Victor who says, in this dub, “that really is…my girlfriend.”
Despite some of the added dialogue in the Leap! dub, which (for the most part) ranges from unexpected to really unnecessary, I honestly think Leap! handles the ending better. Here’s why:
The dub found it necessary to change Rosita’s final line from, “let’s set Paris on fire,” to “let’s show them why we dance.” What’s the one question Odette reminds Felicie of at least two times in the film?
Why is this question important? Well, it helps differentiate the talented and passionate from the talented and forced. Felicie dances because of her family history and the thrill of it all, while Camille dances simply because her Mother thinks it’s what best for their family, however small and needlessly harsh. This movie reminds its audience that talent and technique are important of course, but in order to find true fulfillment in your craft, you need to combine all of that work you’ve invested with an actual desire to do it. In other words, there’s fulfillment in wanting to do something plus putting in the time and effort to do it well.
So hearing Rosita Mauri herself, who truly was a ballet dance in real life say, ‘let’s show them why we dance,’ feels much more fulfilling.
The question comes full circle. You’re asked it, you answer as honestly as you can, and now, you can apply it. By the end, Felicie has learned a great deal about self discipline, responsibility, friendship, and true commitment. She’s more than just Victor’s girlfriend. She’s a learned student who will continue to learn and grow until she’s a professional like Rosita, Louis Merante, and even Odette herself. Don’t get me wrong; Victor’s support will always help. That’s why we need to hear him say that she’s more than just his girlfriend.
Yes she is, but what else? Well, in the Leap! dub, he instead says, ‘my Felicie, she’s fantastic,’ as she dances away on stage. Well, yes, yes she is! As easy as it would be to pick apart the pacing, the lack of realism in her journey, and how convenient it can be to be on great terms with your teachers, I think that what the film is trying to say, amidst all the details, is that at the end of the day, every huge goal needs to have a plan/career map/list of smaller goals to accomplish it. I think Felicie did that amidst her maturing into a legitimate dancer and a better friend. She found not one but two teachers, a good school, classmates, had to fail a couple times before she earned her goal, and even made amends with her rival. She acquired the tools (albeit dishonestly, but she would make up for it later), learned some very tough lessons along the way, and eventually made it.
How satisfying it is to see a determined child work hard, complete a task, and find fulfillment in it? Felicie’s more than just a preteen girl, with a boyfriend, and new parental figures. She’s a determined fighter, with a new sense of humility, competence, and diligence. I love watching her answer the question of why she dances with Rosita Mauri. Why?
Because as Victor suggests in the Leap! dub; she truly is fantastic.
Oh man, we’re treading into my field. I wrote my Master’s thesis on the differences between two Polish dubbings of Disney’s Cinderella and their influence on the audience’s perception of characters.
Personally, I am torn on the issue here. I really liked the “Let’s set Paris on fire line” – it’s just really cool – while I lean towards the line “My Felicie is amazing” for Victor.
Mind that the movie’s intended viewer - a child - does not yet know how to look beyond what is said directly. If Victor refers to Felicie as his girlfriend, the underaged viewer will be certain beyond the shadow of doubts that the relationship has become official. It doesn’t matter that Felicie might very well still consider Victor just a friend – what is said has greater power than what is shown. As a result, children viewing the movie will come to think that a cheek kiss is enough to establish an official relationship, which may create problems for them in the future (I used to believe that people became exclusive the moment they agreed to go on the first date – thanks, Disney). However, if that line is altered, a different interpretation becomes possible - and a more beneficial one, in my view. Rather than make assumptions based on that one cheek kiss – therefore setting a bad example for the audience – Victor shows pure admiration for Felicie. He concedes that she is amazing, that she can still be amazing without returning his feelings. Consequently, he teaches young boys it’s perfectly okay to just be friends with a girl, and that they don’t need to whine about being friend-zoned. It is an extremely important lesson, at least the way I see it.
Then again I was 30/31 when I saw the movie. I can comprehend that they were a couple without that line.. but without it.. I don’t know if the core audience would have.

I like the English dub because it clarifies canon. I also love the “My Felicie” dub. Both work. Because I assume they are canon Boyfriend and Girfriend regardless. But as a Canon stickler.. that’s why I prefer the English dub. Cause it confirms it without a shadow of a doubt and it’s not ambiguous jmo. @livehorses @greatmarta

i made this video for very important scientific reasons
kim possible can now legally say fuck
Life isn’t too bad when they’re together ~
I’m not sure if anyone has already done this but we need to talk about Kai.
Since season 2 last week I think we can all agree on that Kai has some childhood trauma with his parents fighting, and after a few days of thinking I realized there is more to him that’s spread over both seasons.
Starting off with the big guns, his parents. In the first episode of the second season it is established that his parents are often away and that his butler was probably the one who acted as a parent for the most part. It’s then later revealed that his parents fought a lot. In short, Kai rarely got to spend time with his parents and when they did they were most likely fighting. And it’s not rocket science to say that that is hella stressful especially for a child. Because these are two people who are supposed to love each other, not fight each other.
A thing that can happen when these situations occur is that the third party will most likely want to act as a mediator and stop the fighting, I know I do. But since the third party in cases like these are children the adults won’t let them help. Now, this does often come from a place of love because a child should not have to engage in their parent’s arguments, much less have to stop or solve it. But even so it can leave a child confused as to why they’re not allowed to help. It’s a feeling that can leave someone feeling pretty useless, more on that later.
So all of that it is pretty safe to say that Kai probably grew up lonely.
In the first episode of season two it is revealed that Kai knows and hangs out with Mira brother Miles, which is established through this line, “Can I go to Kai’s place later? He’s got a totally insane new gaming set-up.” Now, to be fair, I may be reading into this the wrong way, but I need to point it out. Notice how at the end Miles gives the addition of Kai’s gaming set-up? Notice how that seems to be the reason he wants to go over? We established in this season that Kai’s family is rich and that he has nice things. The downside to all of that is people will more often than not only want to be your friend because of your things, not because of you as a person. To give an example, when I was younger I was the only kid on my street who had a trampoline, and all the neighborhood kids wanted to be my friend. I was really happy because omg friends! But then, when everyone else got their own trampolines, I was no longer “needed”. I no longer held value because I was no longer the only one who had the cool thing.
This is something that can really fuck up a person. Reason being that it plants the ever-growing feeling that you as a person is not important. You as a person are not relevant. You aren’t enough.
Then there’s this line that Kai says in the very same episode, “Anyways, now you know why I was so hyperstoked when you guys asked me to join your team. You treated me so, normal.” Adam and Mira didn’t go to Kai for his things, they went to Kai for Kai. Which obviously made him really fucking happy. For once he was what mattered. Not his things, him. Finally, he was enough. Then came the revelation that he wasn’t the first option for Adam and Mira, which could further the feeling that he wasn’t enough.
So, he can’t help his parents when they’re fighting, people only hang out with him for his things, not him. All that will make a person feel hella worthless. Add to that the fact that Kai was the last to discover his power in season one, and how we in the fandom made jokes about how he felt useless over it.
And speaking of the powers, let’s take a look at them shall we?
Mira likes nature and animal life. Her power allows her to get closer to the thing she loves, even the additional power of underwater breathing lets her get close to the animals who she’d normally be separated from.
Adam has been bullied, and judging by how the bullies acted in the whole face your fear segment it most likely got physical. His power lets him defend himself. It lets him be the stronger person.
And then there’s Kai, who just wants to be worth it and enough, chose fire and tech-smarts. Both powers he uses to prove he’s worth it. Fire gives warmth and light, it’s something he can fight and defend with. The tech-smarts allows him to be helpful and valuable as a person because two people can’t have the same owers in the hollow so it’d be something only he could provide.
In conclusion, Kai not only has childhood trauma but also possibly self-depreciation issues and he deserves so much fucking love.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
Well said.
...Thoughts
So The Hollow Season 2 happened and I have opinions.

Magnificent Ms. Marvel #13 (2020)
written by Saladin Ahmed art by Joey Vazquez, Juan Vlasco, & Ian Herring
Y'all can have your ship war, but I'm gonna sit here thinking about how the ONLY ship art that The Hollow's Instagram page has posted has been kaidam art.
Kai and Mira FTW, LOL.
In all seriousness, every ship is still alive and well except Adam and Mira. Mira and Skeet.
