The thing with named player characters in fics is that very few people name their character something that makes sense in the context of the fic’s tone and culture.

It’s different for characters from the source material because you don’t need to generate buy-in for them- the reader is already invested. No one minds the name Lae’zel in a modern AU because they expect it.

Like obviously it’s no fun to name an OC Jason but it is for sure less likely to break the thin lil veil of immersion.
