is the heretic the liar?

There's a certain relief that comes with knowing Diana's interruption was for pleasure and not because the world was facing another crisis. She's had more than enough of those for many lifetimes, thank you very much. But simple pleasures, like a morning spent at the shore, letting the sun wash over olive skin, and letting the salt air blow through her hair are definitely worth the interruption. She has an eternity to catch up on her meditations, she can set it aside for Diana.

"It's part of it," she says with that slight flirty smile. Diana may have come off as intimidating to anyone else, but Jubilee has stood before Isu as powerful as gods and did not flinch. Simulation or not, it hadn't mattered, it felt real all the same. If she had met Hades for real, she'd kick his ass all over again. But Diana never gave her reason to be afraid, in her she saw a similar soul. Diana may be taller and stronger than her, but Diana's also a good person, genuinely good. And Diana understands Kassandra in ways that no one else could, which is not to take away from her previous relationships, but the burdens of forever could simply not be understood by mortals.

"It is not so terribly different from Themyscira. It just wasn't nearly as advanced either. Kephallonia was a... modest place. Our biggest glory was our statue of Zeus that stood tall and proud and overlooked the entire island. I would often climb the statue and perch on his bolt of lightning and survey the island below me."

diana has not sought news from the man's land in quite a few weeks. it's about three, but she could be wrong, she hasn't particularly been paying attention. KASSANDRA HASN'T EITHER . nubia may be, but nubia very like hippolyta. she's not going to inform diana for fear diana may seek to leave for righteousness. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THE QUEEN'S FEAR . she had a right, as it always turns out. diana did choose to sacrifice herself for the man's world . . . and all the lives in it. women, children, all.

a mystical island, but that sea still smells like the same fresh salt it would anywhere else that wasn't running on pollution and corruption. THERE'S FLECKS OF SAND JOYFULLY POKING AT DIANA'S BARE SKIN . just around her legs when she sits. the hand weaved mats still somehow feel like foam, but they aren't. home, where everything is themysciran, and of her own culture, cultivated with her own love. SHE IS SO COMFORTABLE .

but just like kassandra doesn't blink twice at diana being the princess of themyscira or that she has the strength of a demi-god because she was forged from clay by gods— which makes diana feel normal. simple. diana is guessing that talking about kassandra's time before being the keeper makes her feel simple too. DIANA COULD BE WRONG , BUT SHE'S GUESSED CORRECTLY ABOUT QUITE A LOT WHEN IT COMES TO KASSANDRA . maybe it's the soul connection, maybe it's love.

━ SAGA AS A PARAUTILITARIAN ( and norse mythology ) .

SAGA'S FAMILY , i believe most parautilitarians are dormant until they inherently touch something that paranatural like objects of power. some people's don't really manifest unless using that object , but some can be used otherwise. TOR AND ODIN ANDERSON are saga's grandparents and the people that initiated the lineage of paranatural by using cauldron's lake highly paranatural water as an ingredient in moonshine. Tor and Odin both say themselves they made a lot of mistakes are crazy partiers. they absolutely could not take care of their freya and their granddaughter. FREYA LEFT THE MAYHEM . saga's father isn't directly mentioned , but Mr. Door is too entrenched in the story for me not to like the idea he's saga's father.

PARANATURAL POWERS , saga was an excellent profiler. except that all other excellent profilers don't have a mindpalace where they could practically talk to the people they were profiling. SHE COULD ALWAYS CROSS WORLDS and was really only duped by the dark presence itself by purposely using wake to recreate her world and all the clues she found. but when i say she can cross worlds , i also mean she's one of the few people that can easily find her way in and out of the dark place. whereas sheriff breaker and wake were stuck , all saga had to do was piece together some clues and find the door.

saga is , of course , a norse goddess that drinks from the waters of memory and wisdom. which heavily mirrors tor and odin using the cauldron lake water for moonshine. more so , though , tor and odin just really needed an image for their bad and were fands of norse mythology. those aren't even their real names but they needed to embody the old gods of asgard. SO THEY DID . the norse mythology bits and saga's powers just place severe heavy emphasis on her powerful insight -- which is important for her to be one of the two authors of the story.

ALSO , it should be noted that this all mirrors the fact that saga keeps struggling against scratch rewriting the story so that logan is dead to torture her. LOGAN IS NOT DEAD . she's still with her husband , in fact , logan is with david. they're probably watching their favorite show together. BEING A GUARDIAN OF STORIES AND HISTORY . she knows her history. she knows her story. not an awful mother. gifted fbi profiler. best friend and loyal partner to alex. that is the story.

All Emily has to do is say the word and they'd return. If the Empire and the energy that keeps it cloaked allows it. The last thing Kassandra would ever want to do is make Emily feel like she can't go home. Even if the boat is their home as well, a remnant of the Empire that they can take wherever they go. But in the meantime, they are home, it's with each other. Home never ever has to be a certain place, for Kassandra, home is her wife. And it always will be.

Oh, the Keeper is perfectly aware of the way Emily is looking at her. It's evident in the little smile that quirks onto the corners of her lips. She had spent most of the day yesterday browsing around shops looking for just the thing for the two of them to try something new. On about the third shop, she hit the jackpot. It's back on the boat, all nice and waiting for them. It only takes a little preparation and they'll be good to go. Just the thought of it will be enough to put an extra bit of urgency in her step.

Any time Emily gets like this, Kassandra can't help the way it makes her ancient heart sing. That is the woman she married, that is the woman she's going to spend her unending existence with. Her giddiness gets a good chuckle out of her. It's a rare and beautiful sight to behold. Emily immediately begins pulling Kassandra along and the immortal makes no effort to stop her. "You should be, I'm going to spoil you rotten when we get back. You'll just have to wait a little bit more once we're there."

it's just something she would prefer not to break her heart if she could help it. WHAT IF SHE RETURNS AND IT'S WAR TORN ? completely backwards, they were more advanced than the rest of the world at it's time, but what if they weren't now? she just want to know that leaving the empire in the form of a council that could be considered a democracy was what continued to happen. IT COULD BE A DARK AND DANGEROUS PLACE . especially if her allies and specifically her father no longer had their influence on the empire. that would actually hurt emily.

somehow kassandra's words send a chill up emily's spine in the most pleasant way. EMILY'S NEWEST LITTLE SKIP IS SO JOYOUS . oh, kassandra. the one who makes emily so blessedly happy in so many ways. EMILY'S HAND FALLS AWAY FROM KASSANDRA'S WRIST SO SHE CAN DO THAT LITTLE SKIP . now would be a wonderfully impatient time to use far reach, but she can play the patience game. she hops back to kassandra's side, her arm looping through kassandra's. fingers just touching kassandra's wrist. the other hand wrapped around a bicep.
