Alola was depicted as a beautiful, tropical paradise where summer never ends. It was bright and colorful, rich in both culture and experiences. When Theo stepped off that plane back in Hauâoli City, he was met with what he had been promised. Afterwards his travels through the region of Alola gave him a new perspective as to what truly lie ahead.
Up until UlaâUla Island, the climate stayed true like the pamphlets said--always sunny and mild, sometimes breaching hot, but only when approaching Wela Volcano Park. Then he traveled to UlaâUla and it was vastly different from the rest of the region. The peaking moments of Hokulani, Blush, and Lanakila reached for the heavens, more so the former and latter of the three.
It was Lanakila that Theo felt as if the entire region of Alola was a lie. Snow wasnât possible for a âtropical paradiseâ such as the popular vacation spot. Yet the forecaster was promising a huge storm to hit the southern side of Lanakila Mountain, especially that of Tapu Village.
And guess who was caught in the middle of such a shitstorm?
Fat, heavy snowflakes continuously fell from the dark, creamy gray sky above in a flourish. It no time a thick blanket of snow hid the road from the grass. Through hazy windows, Theo watched as trainers rushed for the PokĂŠmon Center. With each trainer that passed through the sliding glass doors, a sharp and bitter gush of wind racketed those inside.
Eventually as the day carried into the evening, with the snow increasing by the hour, it was apparent that no one was going anywhere for the next day or so. The fireplace that crackled and popped in the middle of the PokĂŠmon Center became a beacon of warmth. Nurse Joy and several others began to pass around blankets as well as instructions for the night.
Although Theoâs current situation was absolutely horrible, at least he had an actual bed he could sleep in. So following Nurse Joyâs instructions, instead of keeping himself out in the common area with a bunch of strangers, he left for his assigned room until all of this quite literally blew over.
The room was small and quaint with, strange enough, a bunk bed instead of just one bed on the right and a desk on the left. He hardly gave the bunk bed half a mind because his attention was drawn to the coffee table on the desk. Immediately he began to make himself some hot chocolate--one of the nurses working at the center kindly provided him with some packets before he retired for the night.Â
As he wait for the water to heat up, Theo focused his attention out the window just to his right. All he saw was white. Lost to the emptiness outside, he hadnât paid any mind to the sound of his door clicking open, nor the figure that step through the threshold.

Though Rosa had taken a slight detour through the fields that held the Mareep and Riolu, she headed home before sundown, Serperior light on her heels. She hadnât visited her mother much during her travels, so it was only right that she take the time to rest up at her old home while she remained in Unova. Her mother would be happy enough with only that, after all.
Twenty minutes.
He sat at the kitchen table in an uncomfortable silence for twenty minutes. The woman, her mother, would busy herself near the stove and sink as she prepared herself some tea. Again she offered and again he declined. Then sheâd go and turn her back on him, and sheâd hum softly to some barely familiar tune that, after a while, he couldnât get out of his head.
This was damnation.
A busy housewife taking a break after presumably a long day of tidying up; sipping quietly on a herbal blend as she scours the newspaper; the afternoon sun pouring through the small window just above the sink; the faraway cries of children playing in yards. Everything was too...picturesque, too comforting, too familiar in an uncomfortable way. It reminded him of before.
Fortunately he wasnât going to have to visit memory lane when the front door clicked open. Suddenly Noirâs sitting up in his seat, straining to hear what mother and daughter are saying, until at last the flood gates open.
And he canât help that cruel smirk that pulls at his lips.
âMy, my,â his voice rumbles low in his throat. When he catches her fingers reaching for a PokĂŠball, he adds with a sneer, âWhat, you planning on fighting right here in the middle of your Motherâs clean kitchen? Psh. Kids have no respect these days.â
alright, I am so sorry guys. work has been KILLING me. Iâve completely lost track of time, and I actually didnât realize it was a week left until Christmas. so yeah. but Iâm here, just...preoccupied. thankfully I got out of work early today so now Iâm all about playing catch up.
that being said, this is a little reminder for myself;
officially start the winter thread w/ kukui
finally deliver sweet, sweet justice for lyra in the form of a starter
respond to the lovely rosa DONE
finish plotting with my boy dark
also @echoesoforre / @nxturalharmxnia / @retroception
yes, hello! I donât want to seem like a pain in the tush, but I made my starters for yâall! I...uh, I apologize if any of you are on a hiatus (I know Sparrow is) or are super busy, but... yeah! just wanted to push that out there. Iâmsorry;o;
Nimbasa City was such a treasure to Noir. Although he hated to admit, anytime he stepped foot in the city he was moved by sweet, wholesome memories of a time long forgotten. The couple he used to live with would take him to the amusement park twice every year, once during the summer and once during winter when the lights were extra spectacular for the holidays.
The nostalgic comfort was addicting as it was depressing. A small part of him was displeased with himself for even wanting to return to his previous life. However, with as much bullshit as heâs lived through in the past how many years, it would be near impossible.
Whatâs more, heâd have to reconcile with his...parents, although heâd use that term incredibly loosely.
All these memories of the couple that took care of him, of those shitty bullies that tormented him, and his childhood dreams and hopes for the future came crashing on his merry little parade of nostalgia. Suddenly the cotton candy he was eating wasnât so delicious anymore, and he promptly threw it in the nearest bin before disappearing within the crowd.
He had half a mind to turn in early for the night, but then something caught his eye. Nimbasa Cityâs world renowned Rondez-View Ferris wheel stood proudly at the center of the park, a beacon of beauty with its mesmerizing lights illuminating the night sky.
Noir paused, watching with childlike awe, as the great wheel elegantly dance in the sky. He could just make out the couples that sat in the cabs. When one kissed, he turned away, an ugly snarl pulling at his lips. Then when he turned back to look again, instead of two silhouettes sitting in a cab, there was just one.
As the cab came closer to the ground, ready to pick up the next person in line, he spotted a familiar tuft of green hair just poking out from underneath a worn baseball cap.
It couldnât be...
Yet when the lights flooded the cap, illuminating the figure within, it was no mistaken that the person in there was him.
Noirâs feet moved on his own and he pushed through the crowd, cutting in line just as the cabâs doors opened. He ignored the shout behind him as he shuffled in, standing before what was supposed to be a future king. And as the cab jerked and was gradually hauled in the air, he took to his knees, bowing in utmost respect.
She was a face among the crowd, but he was sure the young woman he spotted was the same trainer who helped deliver injustice against Ghetsis. Since he had seen her in the heart of Castelia some weeks ago, she was on his mind constantly--a bitter reminder that no matter what he could have done, he would always fail. After all, she was the same trainer who continuously beat his ass whenever the Triad went up against those three trainers from Aspertia.
His vendetta against the young woman didnât start until after Ghetsis disappeared for good. For even though she beat Noir in battle, it didnât matter; Ghetsisâ plans would come to fruition nonetheless. Except they didnât. Afterwards the defeats became so much more because if he had bested her in battle, perhaps that would have bought Ghetsis extra time.
He couldnât right the wrongs of his past, but perhaps there was yet a chance to correct the future. All he wanted was justice for the saint that took him in. What was so wrong about that?
His first course of action was to deliver such justice to the trainer that he held in contempt. Although he wasnât sure how, sheâd feel the same pain his master went through, that was a fact.
It wasnât particularly difficult to figure out where the little brat lived. Aspertia was small enough that everyone knew one another. After the fall of Team Neo Plasma, reporters swamped the small city, questioning the relatives of the three heroes who saved Unova. Her house was on the far south side of the city, tucked away near a small pond and field to grow crops.
When he rung the doorbell, her mother answered, and he was quick to relay the information that he were a friend her daughter met on her travels. The older woman ushered him in and offered him a drink to which he declined. He was told he had to wait for her daughter was out running errands.

Sweaty palms gripped the cold metallic railing in an attempt to leverage the young man currently losing his mind. His throat tightened and his stomach flipped, but not because the bridgeâs suspender cables moaned with each sway of the wind. No, he felt horribly uneasy and anxious because of the significance of where he stood.
Where Lord Ghetsis stood, those five years back, commanding that he and his brothers do not try and follow him, or look for him for that matter. It was an order Theo had a hard time acting on. His purpose in life was to protect Lord Ghetsis, to help him realize his dreams and make them become a reality. How could he continue to serve his lord when he didnât want anything to do with them?
It was a bitter goodbye nonetheless. No matter what Lord Ghetsis ordered, his word were their command. There was a loophole, however, that Theo and his brothers realized soon after he left. While they were not to follow him, or to look for him, Lord Ghetsis never said anything about waiting for his return.
So thatâs what they did. When two years passed since then and Team Neo Plasma began to make their move, the Shadow Triad was there every step of the way, fighting for the greater purpose of their master.
Theo and his brothers did everything in their power to ensure that Lord Ghetsis would win this time. They took extra precaution, sacrificed sleep and sanity, because if he left again then there was no point to any of this; there was no point of them being here, being alive.
...
Is that why he stood on Marvelous Bridge, alone and out of uniform, that of which had been retired nearly two and a half years ago? He was precariously leaning over the side of the railing, red eyes straining to catch a glimpse of what lie beneath the bridge. It was too foggy to see properly, but if he could just get a bit closer...
No, no, no. What was he doing? Why was he being so careless? He wasnât planning on becoming another tragedy all because he lost his sense of purpose. But that was just it! He hadnât a purpose--he hadnât someone to guide him from right and wrong. For the majority of his life Lord Ghetsis was making all the important decisions; Theo didnât know how to think on his feet anymore until recently, and damn was it impossible at times.
After the fall of Team Neo Plasma and the disappearance of Lord Ghetsis yet again, Theo and his brothers promised to always be there for one another. No one was to leave the other two behind and yet...their pact failed, one brother left and then the other, and Theo can hardly remember what they looked like.
It was that stability that held him together. With his brothers gone, however, there was nothing holding him back from jumping.
It wasnât as if the idea had been on his mind for a while. Theo liked to think that he did pretty okay on his own, but then heâd get in those moods where every little thing reminded him of someone from his past; a past he wants to relive and yet forget at the same time.
It almost reminded him of before Lord Ghetsis found him when he live with his adoptive parents. Before he found out the truth, he loved his life. Sure, the kids back then were assholes, but he learned to adapt and overcome.
So why couldnât he adapt and overcome now?
A hated that he was being so indecisive, so unsure of what he wanted. Did he want to know what it felt like to fly, to tiptoe above the heavens and feel so weightless of body and mind? Or did he want to ground himself and stay uncomfortable forever, lost in a sea of inner turmoil?
The suspension cables creaked once more under another gale. The heavy fog that previously billow below vanished. All Theo saw was rocky water, that of which prompted him to release his iron grip on the railing and take a step backward. His chest still felt tight, his skin crawled, and he felt so very tired.
As much as he wanted to, he couldnât--and he hated that part most about himself.
âDelayed?" Theo repeated in disbelief. âWhat the hell do you mean my flight has been delayed?â The more annoyed he got, the louder his voice rang. Strangers cocked their heads to watch the young man spitting venom at the woman behind the desk. Her eyes were wide and fearful, and unbeknownst to Theo, her finger repeatedly pressed the security button.
By the time he threw every curse word under the sun at her, two large men appeared out of no where to promptly escort Mr. Rourke out of the airport. Anger pooled in the pit of his stomach, and although enraged, he knew not to resist. There was no way Theo would win against two men who looked as if they could defeat a Machamp in an arm wrestling contest.
The worst part about all of this was that he hadnât thought it wise to check when his flight would be rescheduled. An exaggerated groan fell from his lips. Turning on his heel and shoving his hands deep into his pockets, Theo sulked away from the airport and into the night.Â
He couldnât take another night in Aquacorde Town. It was so dull that he sorely missed the liveliness of the big cities. Then again, he came here for a reason, but the exact reason escaped him. Not that he cared anyways.
Broke and beat, and still pissed, Theo aimlessly walked around hoping to blow off some steam. The last thing he wanted to do was get into a fight with the motel owner and subsequently lose his chances of getting a decent rest on a bed. The night was still young anyways.
For some reason or another, the fountain at the townâs center square seemed to call to him. Theo rested against one of the benches just opposite of the fountain. The water spouting upwards and falling into the basin below was mesmerizing at best, but then something--rather, someone--caught his attention.
A young man dressed mysteriously in a cape. All he needed was a top hat, a cane, and a monocle. Unless he were a magician because if he were then he didnât need a stupid monocle.
Which led Theo to believe that the man he was looking at was, in fact, a magician. This night just got ten times better.
Grinning from ear to ear, Theo stood and approached the magician. ââSup!â He nodded in greeting. âSo, uh, should I pick a card or what?â
I just want to start off and apologize for leaving so shortly after I joined. Life kind of...got bad, not gonna lie, but everything is okay now!
As you can probably tell, I changed Altair quite a bit. Actually, no--this isnât Altair anymore. I was really unsatisfied with my first interpretation that I decided to completely rehash him into someone new. So yeah!
But anyways, Iâm really excited to be back and I promise I wonât leave anytime soon... ;v; With that said, Iâm going to make this a starter call! There will be no cap, so go wild, yah?
Castelia City was a shithole. The only reason Altair was here was because some crime lord or another needed his...expertise on a matter. It was humiliating that he had been reduced to hits by someone other than Ghetsis. However, his client had made an offer he could not refuse and the deal went from there.
Fortunately for Altair it didnât take long. The man he was supposed to speak with was disposed of quickly, and soon enough Altair walked away with full payment. The clock hadnât even struck noon by the time he was standing on the side of a street within a crowd of business men and women, acting almost as if he didnât just off a guy.
Now that he had money it felt like he had power. All that was left was a decent meal fit for a king and maybe his mind would be at ease. Since setting foot in Castelia it had felt like he were reliving the earlier memories of his childhood. Except now he could afford to visit that fancy restaurant he always passed by on his way to the marketplace.
The Rocksalt Grille was at the corner of the 33rd and 34th. On both sides of the crosswalk a horde of people wait, their heads bent to stare at their phones. Like clockwork the cars stopped and people were allowed to move from one end to the other. Altair mingled near a group of young giggling girls in what looked to be school uniforms. He hardly paid them any mind as his attention was set on his destination ahead.
Somewhere in the middle of the crosswalk he bumped shoulders with someone. Or rather, that person rudely bumped into him. Either way the small seemingly accidental interaction left Altair stalling in the middle of the street. He didnât need to check himself to know what had just happened.
Spinning on his heel and working against the flow of human traffic, Altair moved at a considerable pace to catch up with the stranger. From the corner of his eye he spotted the familiar almost welcoming eerie grin of his Banette move from the shadows. She too was stalking after the stranger at an even faster pace than her master.Â
When the crowd began to die and only a few bystanders walked on by, his partner struck--she moved in the blink of an eye, transferring herself from the shade of nearby buildings to the strangerâs shadow. And when Altair heard a broken chuckle emit from a passing alleyway, he knew she had succeeded.
The Night Terror Epidemic had swept Undella in a state of fear. It didnât help that the local news station continued to feed said fear. They left out the fact that only a handful of men or women were affected, and that most of those who were usually released from several doctorâs and nurseâs Musharna.Â
Still, the whole epidemic was odd. Long-time residents of Undella had never experienced such a phenomena before. Investigations into the matter were useless because no one knew what they were looking for. So they gave up and hoped for the best, and as long as they did so the nightmares continued.
Little did everyone know that, in just two days time, Undella Town would be back to normal. The nightmares that plagued its residences would retreat to the side of a young, seemingly innocent man. He had mysteriously arrived in town the very day the terrors began, but no one knew that. How could they? He was just a random tourist, thatâs all!
Except he wasnât. Altair Rourke was a skilled battler, a trained bodyguard, but more importantly he was the cause of the Night Terror Epidemic. Well, his friend was. That friend being the bipedal Ghost-type Banette. She had been bored, hungry even, and nothing would stop her from stirring up a little trouble. Her master encouraged it.
Her antics evolved from there. When she was finally done with her prey, sheâd return to Altair who found solace in the form of Undellaâs many beaches. There usually wasnât a soul in sight as far as the eye could see, and the crashing of waves on shore had always been pleasant on the ears.
Like every other night he found himself standing alone on the beach as he wait for his Pokemonâs return. Although he had grown fond of Undellaâs nighttime beauty, it was custom of him not to stay in one place for too long.Â
The sound of broken laughter brought a faint smile to his face. The full moon had enraptured him so that he had not been paying attention to the ghostly figure floating his way. Small arms then looped around his left leg as large, unblinking eyes stared off in the direction she came. From the moonâs light he saw a figure approaching fast.
A knot formed in the pit of his stomach once he noticed the long twin pig-tails. It was one of them.Â
