koenraad almost wished he could say that nothing that escaped the princess’ lips was going to make it’s way into his system; in anyway affect him, but that simply wasn’t the case. still, he could try his best to disguise his feelings on the matter. he’d much prefer her to be convinced he’s soulless, than know the full extent of the sensitive soul that he had. “oh, you mean the rumours about me having sex with people?” he’ll ask, cocking a brow in her direction. “you really think that’s a big problem? there’s people out there making much poorer decisions than i have.” he’ll add on callously, cocking his head to the side. “though i’m sure you’re not one of them. isn’t that right, o’connor?” 

Monika gasped as she heard the woman’s words, knowing how awful it must be to not have her sweet cat, since when she first arrived her precious Käsknöpfle got lost as well. “Oh no I don’t think I have seen him but I will look! He sounds similar to my cat, Kas. But mine is a little munchkin kitty.”

their relationship, no matter how brief, had been rocky to say the least. there were not many people who could say they were able to fire up frustration in the oldest dutch prince’s frame, but she certainly had done. it was alarming, how the mere glimpse of her was enough to set him back several steps. “i don’t think anybody can truly be blessed by you, satan’s children aren’t really known for that, usually.” he’ll remind her, his arms crossing against his frame; shielding himself from her. “what’s that supposed to mean?” he’ll ask the question he deems unnecessary. despite not knowing the full extent of her bitter remark, he was sure it was intention was to get under his skin. he’s sure she’s heard all about him and his little escapades since the summit had first occurred.

“I don’t know if it’s because I missed breakfast this morning and I’m starving, or what. But these are the best crisps I’ve had in years. You want one?”

“i don’t know about you but after my trip back home I feel good. really good. like i feel like i can do anything now.” he said babbling onto whoever was listening to him. he made amends to people that he has been holding onto for so long and it felt like it was a clean slate for him. like he could finally start over and do something else for himself. “but other than that, how have you been? i feel like i haven’t seen you in ages! we need to catch up.”

“can we just, pretend you didn’t see that?” ying looked down to the food she’d dropped all over the floor. “i promise i’m usually not so clumsy. it’s just –” she paused, shaking her head, looking down at the mess of garlic bread and fettuccine alfredo aka her favorite drunk tipsy foods, “we all have our days, y’know? today is my day. or, today is my night, really… being three in the morning and all.” be it guilt or anxiety, she couldn’t help but indulge in what made her happiest in this late hour: drinking and eating.

koenraad didn’t like having enemies. whilst this summit was seemingly proving otherwise, the fact remained to be one. however, he could make a few exceptions to his rule. his former girlfriend being one of them. he knew he’d eventually have to come into contact with her. choosing to date royals was a mistake on koenraad’s part when taking what was expected of them into account. whether he still cared about them, or not. the prince had always been the wishful thinker, the hopeless romantic. it hadn’t done him so well, so far, it seemed. he’d wasted his time and he always disliked that; loathed it, even. “i was wondering when i’d be cursed with seeing your face again, o’connor.” he’ll murmur then, forcing a somewhat tight lipped smile onto his features. “i thought i’d be able to deal without it until we both ultimately ended up in hell, unfortunately, i’m not so lucky. how’ve you been?” / @ofoconnor
