kimi was probably the person julian had spent the most time with out of everyone on the team ( excluding his roommates, which he didn’t really have a choice to be far from ) and yet, with her and all her faces moods, he could hardly guess what she was ever going to do next. “i miss her,” he explained, picking apart the pastry and popping little chunks into his mouth every couple seconds. “and not–” he shook his head and dusted off his hands on his pants, “not in the kind of… stupid way…” stupid of course meaning the dumb way he had confessed his feelings to her the other night. “i miss her being around and being my friend. not that you’re not enough.” julian was quick to throw in the little compliment for kimi. it was mostly unspoken, but they knew just how important they were to each other. it was a sixth sense that kept them from growing apart. “i’m pretty sure she’s not ready to talk to me yet, though.” a few seconds ticked by, and he sighed again. “isaiah won’t talk to me, either. so… i’m shit outta luck over here.”
kimberly had to try, and hard, to focus on what julian was telling her. she wondered, as her mind drifted for just a moment, how verena had managed to bore her even by just association, just by mention. but she returned to the moment quickly, feeling bad that her lack of interest in the majority of the mysterybusters could possibly make julian feel as though she doesn’t care about him — which she does, evidently, maybe too much. “i mean, and don’t take this the wrong way because you know i’m always looking out for you,” she said, pauses slightly. “but what you did was shitty and vee, and even isaiah, being upset isn’t unfounded. but i think if you’re this whiny over not talking to her, it’s in your best interest to, i don’t know, ask her if you guys can just play normal.” she wanted to tack on an or whatever for flippancy, to let him know that this advice should be taken with a grain of salt, but she kept it back behind her teeth.
