December had been cast in Westerburg’s winter musical, Grease. Of course, Dee’s adoptive mother was their director and teacher so she often didn’t get the lead because Dee didn’t want to be accused of favouritism but in this case, the actress who got the lead was well deserved. December was playing Rizzo, the tough and sarcastic leader of the Pink Ladies. She smokes, drinks, and does not care what others think of her. December felt a connection in a way to this character’s attitude. Their Sandy was being played by Natalie. December had a small crush on Natalie since they had been spending a lot of time together during the drama club.
December had just finished rehearsing a scene with Tyler who was playing Kenickie. “Alright folks, I think we will call it a night.” Ms. Valentine called out. All the kids began dispursing. “Hey, Natalie. Wait up.” December spoke, planning on asking if she wanted to stay late to run lines with her… just as an excuse to spend more time together.
Natalie had been into theater her whole life, getting into her first play when she was the ripe age of four. However, she had only started doing musicals when she had first entered high school and immediately fell in love with them. She had only gotten a lead role one time before and it was during her sophomore year, she had gotten Ariel in the school’s version of The Little Mermaid. But this was different. This was Sandy freaking Olsson! Nat loved Grease and to be able to be the lead was just so surreal to her. And a little nerve wracking.
The blonde was hanging out in the seats, watching others rehearse as she occasionally looked down to go over her own lines. However, when Ms. Valentine spoke up, she was quick to gather all her things and start for the doors when she heard December. “Hey, Dee. What’s up?” Nat asked with a tiny grin.
