❝ WELL, if you ask me i think you’re doing perfectly fine, ❞ he hums. he steps closer to her and places his hands on her shoulders, squeezing them encouragingly. ❝ you’re doing just fine, celest, don’t doubt yourself. ❞ it was a more difficult act of magic, but they know she’ll be fine. ❝ i can’t always tell you what to think of, or what to say. that’ll just be limiting you. ❞ they bring their hands back to their sides before asra nods at her. encouraging, supportive.

She was trying her best, but she still wasn’t sure if this level of a spell was something she was ready for. She had been trying for a few days to use the spell and honestly, it was just becoming frustrating. 

Their words were encouraging, and although earth type magic was her specialty, she still wasn’t sure. Still she did her best once more. Looking at the shriveled up potted plant on the table before then she felt a pit in her stomach. Could she bring this back to life? If she could then she wouldn’t ever have to worry about her garden again. Still...

❝ YOU… say that as if you’ve known what i’ve done. ❞ a scoff. he shakes his head, turning his attention elsewhere. ❝ you haven’t… known me for long. ❞ what a lie. ❝ so.. how could you say that with that much certainty? ❞ it feels like a hypothetical question, even if he is curious to know the answer. not like he’ll say it outright anyways. it’s been… a very long time since he’s had another person in his company (besides asra, of course). is it a welcomed change? he doesn’t know.. he’s not sure how to feel about it.

“Your eyes...” She answered honestly. Even after he had just told her all he had done in his past, Celest still somehow knew it wasn’t his fault.

   IT   WAS   UNEXPECTED   TO   RETURN   TO   AN   EMPTY   SHOP      in fact,  that alone was enough for their heart to beat erraticaly, to  internally  panic without showing it on the outside, their visage remaining composed  ( regardless of such, Faust could feel that they were feeling rather uneasy )  and try to think things throughly.                  There were no signs of disturbance upon closer inspection,                  and it seemed as if she left to buy what she’d need for the day.

   As soon as that realization dawned on them, Asra could feel themselves relax. Removing their hat to place it on the hanger alongside their bag, they proceed to leave their familier on the cushions and turned around, gently waking up the salamander for him to turn on the stove prior returning him to where they had been peacefully resting, gently caressing his head only for them to soon return to the task at hand. Grabbing the kettle and filling it with water just to place it above the stove.

   It’d be a lie to say they weren’t feeling lonely already     or, in reality, extremely so when she wasn’t by their side; whenever they required to travel in order to seek answers, they missed Celest dearly. Each passing moment ached, but they couldn’t bring themselves to invite her, not feeling strong enough to protect her.  Once  had been enough to prove how wrong they had been to leave on their own, how foolish and  what it cost.                 That truly  everything  came with a price. 

   Nowdays, there were no risks, or so they’d like to believe. The sole idea of Celest going through pain if she recalled anything, it was enough to stop any attempt to bring her along. She was better here in Vesuvia, recovering and helping others.

   Asra merely decided to take sit near Faust, who was soon to move and rest on their lap.    It was a matter of waiting for Celest to return.

Pulling up her shawl, Celest paid the last vendor of the last stall she visited for the day. Placing the last of her goods into her basket she turned and began to make her way back to the shop. With what she could get she would be able to finish two of the four potions she needed to finish as well as that salve for their neighbor. It would probably be a good idea to water the flowers as well, maybe by the time Asra arrived home the flowers will have sprouted. She allowed a soft smile to cross her face.

It’d be nice if that was sooner.

Coming to a halt just a few steps from the door of her shop, she paused for a moment. The famailiar feeling of Asra’s magic engulfed the entrance. If there was one thing she knew, it was the feeling of his magic. It was so light and warm yet was as mysterious as he was. He was home. A bigger smile crossed her face and she felt warmth fill her heart. The feeling of loneliness seemed to all but disappear. Turning the handle of the shop door she let out a sigh, he always left the door unlocked whenever he returned home. SIlly.

Opening the door fully she stepped into the shop, closing the door behind her. The scent of sandlewood, sage, and other herbs filled the air as she placed her basket onto the counter before removing her shawl. Placing near where Asra hung their hat and bag she just smiled. It was nice to see he didn’t just leave it lying around for once. That was a first.

She had lost track of time, again. How many days had it been since Asra left on his latest journey? She couldn’t remember. Still it felt too long. She really missed him and Faust, it was a bit difficult waking up in the morning and them not being there. 

Picking out a few more ingredients she needed at the Market she paid the vendor before placing them in her basket. She knew she couldn’t ask him to stay whenever his wanderlust kicked in, after all, he had been there for her all this time, ever since she woke up in his arms. Though, maybe he could take her with next time...

Nah, he’s probably tell her she needed to get better before that happened again. Still it was hard being alone, she felt almost fragile, like she’d break if she left Vesuvia.
