She comes from pretty old money, her mother is a famous fashion designer and her father the current CEO of champagne company, Selene Group. It was expected of her and her siblings to succeed and do well, even if it didn’t align with their plans. Considering who they were, mediocrity wasn’t an option.
She’s the middle child with two brothers and a little sister. She’s the bridge between them since her little sister had nothing in common with her brothers when she was little so she’s a bit protective, but also a little shit when she wants to be
Has always been into fairytales/folklore/mysteries. She’s a dad’s girl and he was the one to pass down all these tales to her in so many different types of lore and this grew her passion.
She’d put on mystery plays for the family once a year every Christmas as a kid, it used to be way more but her parents had to be like ma’am we can’t keep hearing Nadine scream every week pls
Her siblings all went to school in France but Odette wanted to find the loch ness monster so she convinced her parents to let her go to Scotland for boarding school. Yes this is serious.
She was in debate club, still is, same for being on the football team (she does not call it soccer don’t ask her to), and explored the local legends as much as she could. She got into sciences and research stuff during high school, got into a lil bit of trouble for meddling in the Headmaster’s life, but overall did well. Because duh, what other choice is there?
Picked University of Barcelona by throwing a dart at a map and landing in Spain, did the same for grad school. She’s got a Bachelors in Anthropology and is working on her anthro masters with a concentration in folklore. Between undergrad and grad she worked as a research assistant for her old professor. She plans on continuing her research and becoming a cultural research manager to preserve local cultural heritages properly, world travel included.
Page 6 says she dated an olympic gold medalist for tennis... rumors say she was bored and felt unwanted... TMZ says their split was her fault...
Started a paranormal mystery podcast called L'inconnu that’s pretty popular considering. She’s using it for her thesis so this season is mostly about folklore and legends. Remember to like, review, and subscribe <3
So excited to uncover the mystery of the Society but is also like, is this a cult?
Believes in fun, sexy conspiracy theories. And a bit in fairytales. And thinks Princess Diana was murdered, don’t get her started on that one
Can pick a lock from breaking into a haunted Irish castle

AND OF COURSE. It isn’t as if Phoebe doesn’t want Odette around, per se, but she’d gotten used to sharing the space with just Sylvia. Frankly, she’d been avoiding Odette as much as she could — while still also keeping tabs on her, of course. She never knew when she’d needed to one-up the woman, who had just as much cunning as herself.
“Lovely,” she replies, pressing her bookmark into the spine and closing it. “A little stressed, maybe; I’ve got stuff to finish like everybody else.” And she swings her legs around, not seeming any more wound up than her usual self. A deliberate pause inserted into her words, she turns to face the other properly. “And what about everything outside of school? Dish.”
✴
Odette was perfectly happy having Phoebe just be her part time housemate, but she severely underestimated how her aloofness came off to Phoebe. To say this was the first time Odette actually was finding her more interesting would probably be harsh, but so was the truth. But then the night of the gallows happened, and she now had to re-navigate how the rest of her Harcourt journey would go.
“Mhm, I both hate and love this time of year.” She sighs faux dramatically, a wry grin following suit. “My major projects got done at leasts.” She shrugs, and she appears unbothered- maybe last week this would be true. But every look sent Odette’s way with those obscenely large eyes felt like a bullet. She’d have to make something up, if she gave Phoebe nothing than it would appear she really did have something to hide, but if she gave her anything, then who knows what dots she’d have connected? “Oh just wait, I’m gonna put my stuff away first.”
And as she went to do so, Odette figured it out. Coming back to the common room, she sat down on the couch, body faced towards Phoebe. “You won’t believe it, but you know that Holiday Gala in London? There’s rumors Harry Styles will perform.” She grins, fully aware this wasn’t what Phoebe had in mind but it was still prevalent. “My family and I will be seeing yours there again this year, right?” Was she aware of the bomb she had just placed? Not really, but she was interested to see Phoebe’s reaction regardless.
the post-it gets tucked away into the pocket of her sweatpants, where hera prays she’ll remember its existence before she chucks these pants into the washer. leaning over the table, she rolls her eyes at the compliment, aware of the pink tinge to her cheeks that has nothing to do with the upcoming drink. “i know i’m the smartest person you know, but it doesn’t come without effort. hence, the whole studying schedule to complete.” she still takes her glass though, and she still eyes it with the same disdain that she tends to give every non-living obstruction of studying. “but fine, since you came all this way to drink, eat and god knows what else with little old me. what were you up to before coming here?”
✴
“Leave the note on your desk.” Odette reminds her friend gently, pulling a piece of fuzz out of Hera’s hair. She chuckles softly, nodding as Hera continued. “Yes, yes. But studies show late night cramming isn’t that effective, so for this weekend you can afford a break. Or do I need to send you another article on burnout?” She gave Hera a pointed look, a bright smile replacing it as she conceded. “I knew you’d come around, and besides it’s always fun with you.” She chuckles before raising an eyebrow at Hera’s question. She looked down at the time on her phone, brows furrowing. “Oh, you know. Celebratory shots from my group project gone right.” She held up the two filled shot glasses, handing Hera’s hers. “Cheers!”
“Seriously?” She questioned, her interest piquing at the fact Odette shared with her. Nevaeh’s studies centered around the adaptation of soil. How they could cultivate it for the longevity of plant life, and her personal favorite the lives of the one’s endangered. It didn’t occur to her that the dirt could be used to tell the story of life, and not just help make one. “That’s actually pretty dope, I’ll have to look into that. Never thought I’d be looking forward to reading articles that cover the abilities of dirt, but here we are.” She laughed. “Nothing wrong with a gift card. Whatever they buy with it is still technically a gift from you. I have too many things in mind that’s the problem. I don’t want to go overboard since we haven’t really declared anything about their being an ‘us’ or whatever…” The thought making her grow shy which is evident by the red tint blooming her cheeks. “But i’ve always worn my heart on my sleeve and I wouldn’t be me if i hold back so i guess i’m just hoping for the best.” She finished with a shrug.
✴
“Yeah,” she brights, more warmly than before but she knew Nevaeh wouldn’t notice. She had a good poker face after all. Though her studies centered around folklore and the cultural impact story telling had, not necessarily what was physically left behind but excavation was also an area of interest for her. “We come from dirt, and we’ll return to the dirt. Someone’s gotta figure out what it all means in between, right?” If she let her guard down, she’d like Nevaeh more. But that wasn’t in her nature, it was natural for her to be skeptical and question everyone’s motive. Her legs cross, looking both respectfully engaged yet not completely invested. “I think whatever you do he’d like it. The more extra, the better right? From what I’ve seen in movies and stuff, that goes well.” Odette couldn’t relate, she preferred to keep her cards to herself till they were ready to be revealed. “Maybe it’ll be great. I’m sure everyone likes to get spoiled once in a while.”
SITTING IN THE common room, Phoebe has her legs up on the couch, surprisingly casual for her usual self, but she’s grateful for the moment alone. Book in hand, a mug of tea by her side, she’s right in the middle of a particularly riveting passage when she hears the door open, half-confused.
It’s Odette, and she’d half-forgotten that she was her housemate, given that she’d lived off-campus on her own. “Oh,” she says, “hi. I didn’t know you were going to be coming by today. How are you?” Always polite, but she never got any warmer than cool.
✴
Odette preferred her privacy, especially when she had to record audio for the podcast and ensure a quiet place for some of her group projects. However with final exams coming around, she knew it’d be easier to stay on campus for the full week rather than partially.
But god, she was hoping to run into Sylvia first. Whatever had happened during the boat party, Odette knew she had to have her guard all the way up around Phoebe while still maintaining their usual pleasantries. “Hey,” she greets, setting her bag down as she started removing her shoes and coat. “Yeah, I’m staying for the rest of the semester for finals and stuff. But I’m doing well.” She nods her head towards Phoebe as she placed her things in the coat closet. “How about you?”

Why do you and Lye seem to hate each other so much?
“Probably because we don’t actually hate each other. I mean I know we have our comments but when I actually hate someone, I avoid them as much as possible because I can only be fake for so long. Sometimes he gives me feedback that I actually respect. It’s kind of fun sometimes to get him mad. You think I want some of the Society members to know my personal business?
But yeah, it’s all good fun if we’re being honest.”
☤: the last time my muse went to the hospital and why
Adventure gone wrong, Odette once took a trip to Connecticut over the summer to investigate this weird town she thought was haunted. Turns out it was actually just a small cult but one of the members did throw a book square at her face and she had to go get checked out. Shit happens, right?
☣: how would my muse fare in the hunger games?
She’d take the Johanna approach and only worry about water mostly, but hiding until everyone died and relying on being crafty and sneaky would be her preferred approach. Worse comes to worse, she’s learned how to defend herself in crazy situations so she’d probably make it till the end and live with the trauma
웃: what my muse would leave to people in their will
Her family are currently next in line for all her assets, including her stakes in the company and her like possessions. If she dies before she gets married, her siblings get the breakdown: Victor, the oldest brother will specifically be getting all her research to keep securely and hopefully give someone to continue, Henri gets her jewelry to pass down, and Nadine gets her wardrobe. If she gets married and has kids, her spouse would get her research and preserve it and her kids would get her everything mentioned to her siblings (after they get their share of it) and they’d also get her home, cars, their inheritance and everything she would’ve opened up in their names. She’s very serious about their wellbeing when she’s gone because like... eldest daughter syndrome taking care of her siblings/kids you know?
She really doesn’t like winter... or snow... fate really brought her to the east coast for the fall semester huh. But she does like to make hot chocolate/chai with vanilla and get cozy by the fireplace. Just watching it is enough for her because you know, the aesthetic.

“Honesty can sometimes sound like flattery, but I promise i’m just being truthful.” She assured with a sweet smile. “It’s always the little things that make the day.” It was something her father said constantly while she was growing up. ‘The big things are cherries on top, but the little things make the day’. No doubt, he was to thank for her ability to find the smallest of facets and making it a full gem. “I just got out a study group that felt never ending. Who knew the swamp model and how it relates to soil science could be so confusing?” She teased. “I’d like to go home and take a nap, but I have some last minute touches to do for this gift exchange I have with Lye.” The thought alone was enough to make her smile brighten. “I’m doing my best to surprise him, and knowing how easily I let my excitement get the best of me I’m hoping he’s still clueless.”
✴
“Oh I’m sure, I’m just teasing.” She feels just slightly uncomfortable with how genuine Nevaeh makes herself seem, Odette wasn’t the type to shy away from her feelings but she was surprised every time how open Nevaeh presented herself. Though, it comes with practice she knew this. “Anyone who decided to go into the arts knew that.” She grins slightly, tilting her head anyways. “That’s funny though, one of my classes was talking about how we can check the soil around a dig site to see how long ago some artifacts were created. It all adds up.” She shrugs before pausing as she brought Lye up. Ugh, the last thing she wanted to do was discuss gifts for someone she couldn’t spend even five minutes with before they started arguing. At least she could deal with everyone else better. “Oh, that’s cool.” She wants to drop it, but she knew she should probably be polite. “What did you have in mind? I’ve never been a great gift giver, my siblings love their gift cards every year.” A white lie, but the sooner this topic could get dropped, the better.

“i i need that post-it,” she murmurs before sighing, letting the words dissipate into thin air as she closes the door and follows odette further into her dormitory. she snorts, shaking her head as she stares at the vodka and seemingly out of thin air shot glasses. she knows they’re not hers, because hera never drinks unless any of her bad influence friends are around, and her roommate (she telepathically sends an apology to lucy) didn’t really seem the type to drink either. “you do realize i have some semblance of free will, right?” she asks, but she reaches into her fridge for a can of cola that she keeps for the late nights. “one shot. that’s it. no more since i still have three more chapters to cover and i can’t rearrange my current study schedule to accommodate for any non-sober actions. and you’re getting the pizza when it arrives.”
✴
“Here you go,” she hands the post-it back to Hera with a loose smile, eyes looking just a bit dazed. She had since changed before heading to the bar, but it was the buzz that was keeping her warm over the short dress. Odette playfully scoffs, a teasing grin on her lips spreading at Hera’s insistence. “One shot, fine. But come on, you’re the smartest person I know. I’m sure you’ve done enough studying and revising.” She pours out the two shots, handing Hera’s her glass. “You can go back to studying tomorrow. It’s past midnight, you need a break.” She beams at Hera as she nods. “Yeah, of course. Look, I’m feeding you too and giving you a much needed break, you can call me your fairy godmother.”
“It’s cold, but the cape part helps surprisingly.” She chuckles, knowing just how this was going to go. She’d play nice, so would Phoebe, they’d lower inhibitions for a bit given their circumstance right now and then go back to trying not to step on each other’s toes. But, then Phoebe comes out of left field with a frankly ridiculous question and Odette does her best not to let her easygoing mood crumble. Because it was ridiculous, obviously, why would she even ask that? More importantly, what did Lye do to suggest this, because she knew it certainly wasn’t her.
So she laughs, both her brows raising with a curious look. Playing dumb was a well executed dance she played, especially since she quite liked their situation of Phoebe not yet having anything over Odette. “Really? Is that what people are saying.” She shakes her head with a playful roll of her eyes. “No, he’s just obnoxious in class. I’m surprised no one else sees it but, well.” She shrugs, and there’s more to say, more to elaborate on. But that certainly wasn’t something Phoebe needed to know. And if she did, then Odette would have to take matters into her own hands.
♕
SHE DOESN’T KNOW how she ends up being so frank, but she could always blame the alcohol, of which she’d had plenty of. Nothing tipped her off to the situation aside from palpable tension she’d gleaned from a conversation overheard. She was nosy like that, always listening in for a morsel of gossip that could later be useful. Phoebe stands there, faking a half-hearted interest, when in reality, she is clinging onto every word.
“Nobody else,” she answers, “just me.” She twirls a strand of hair around her finger, blinking. Subtly, she’s trying to figure out if Odette is lying or not. “It’s a thin line between love and hate.” The sentiment is almost taunting, as if she’s attempting to gauge Odette’s reaction to it. But a second later, Phoebe is back to her sweet and sly expression, clinging onto her façade the best she could. “Don’t worry about it. I was just curious.” She nods, tilting her head. “I’ll see you around, Odette.”
