like, guys, there is literal DECADES of batjokes content. decades of queer coding and implications and love confessions. I don't care if you don't ship it in general, but you have to admit that no other two characters in DC have been this heavily shipped by authors before.

The only reason that it's not canon yet is bc of the homophobic nightmare legacy DC has. Scott Snyder has gone on record multiple times to say that they are gay. Just take a look at Death of The Family (the special edition that's from Joker's perspective) or Sean Murphy's White Knight.

Ship all or none. The only reason that the Lego Batman has such good Batjokes content is because of their dynamic in every other comic EVER. Sure, Joker is much less of a threat in the Lego Batman Movie, but the reason that any of his interactions with Bats are based off of past DC content. (i.e. "What about that time with the two boats," "This is better than the two boats", Alfred listing all of Bruce's past mental breakdowns, etc...)

Sorry about the rant I'm just sick of it.

to put it bluntly, brian utilized freddie's point of view - a gay man, as a proxy to explore his own queerness.

Listen, I don't think I've ever said this, but... This is something I also read into their musical "partnership." It makes so much sense to me.

It seems to me that Brian, through his songwriting, was trying to blur the line between Freddie's experiences and his own. Like? If you think about the story behind Fat Bottomed Girls for more than a minute, it becomes batshit insane.

For this song to be what it is, Brian had to 1) Notice Freddie's sexual partners, 2) decide it was worthy of a song, and 3) imagine himself, in part, as a gay man expressing his desires in a proud yet necessarily obscure way.

And what would drive him to do this? He cared about Freddie, yes, but Freddie didn't know about it. It makes sense that this was something Brian did because he needed it, too, somehow. And I'm not even making that up. Brian has talked about how Ressurection was, in a way, an attempt to adopt Freddie's headspace. He admired Freddie so much that he, at times, wanted to be him. And he's been pretty open about that.
