I have a small request if you are interested. I had thought about a little girl running from her bullies in the marketplace and she runs and hides behind king Baldwin without knowing who he is.
''No, leave me alone!'' - shouts angrily a teary little girl as a bunch of older kids surrounds her.
''Or what? Will you call guards?'' - one of them scoffs and gales of laughter reverberate throughout the tiny street of the cramped marketplace. Lots of merchants and shoppers are passing by, yet no one reacts to a girl being jerked and pulled by her braid. Even so, she doesn't give up and releases herself from their hold by biting one boy's hand. ''Hey!'' Desperately trying to escape from her bullies, she doesn't pay much attention to all obstacles on the way. Toppled chairs and baskets with vegetables slow down the kids but it's still not enough, the tallest of them all almost catches up with her and would grab the hem of her scarf if not the knights on their horses crossing their path and so separating the two of them temporally. ''Stop right there, you dog!''
''Huh?'' A teenager in refined clothes turns around to face the pale now rascal. ''What did you say?''
''U-Uh...'' At the sight of a golden circlet with the kingdom's emblem, he firstly takes some steps back in fear before promptly running away carelessly.
''What was that about?'' - ponders the young king and glances over his shoulder to find a distressed girl with her gaze lowered at his feet. Noticing tears in the corners of her puffy eyes he takes out a silk handkerchief from under his cape and hands it over. ''Is he the cause of your tears?'' In response he receives just a nod. ''Guards, find the boy who was chasing this girl and lecture him appropriately.''
''Yes, my lord. Shall I take her home?''
''No, I will do this.'' With a warm smile Baldwin turns to his new companion, who with confusion is observing the guards. ''Do not fear, they are my knights.''
''Forgive my rudeness, my lord, I had no idea you are a prince.'' And she bows respectfully, not realizing she is standing before the new king of Jerusalem.
''A prince?'' - he chuckles softly. ''What's your name, my fair lady?''
''Lady (Y/N), show me the way to your house. I'll take you there.'' After helping her to mount his horse, both of them head back to her home.
''My lord-'' - the girl begins bashfully after some minutes of awkward silence.
''Uh, Baldwin...'' - she quietly corrects herself. ''Is there anything I could do for you to repay your kindness? I'd be glad to be of some help.''
''Well, there is.'' - he then glances over his shoulder at her and grins cheerfully. ''Be my friend.''
