âUnderstood. Iâll put on the brakes and you can rendezvous whenever youâre ready.â
Obby typed two more commands into his console. The microphone returned back into the dashboard and Skyrebrandâs braking thrusters kicked on again to slow the ship down to a more reasonable speed for a rendezvous.
âYou donât normally talk face to face with strangers willingly,â Nyxâs voice rang out again as her holographic form appeared next to her captain, âIs everything all right?â
âYes, Iâm fine and I- I know what Iâm doing,â Obby nodded as he spoke, âI wouldnât trust him if he werenât in the same boat as me.â
âDo you mean that literally or as a figure of speech?â
âA figure of speech. And, Nyx?â
âYes?â
âI know itâs a lot to ask of you, but- I would appreciate it if you were visible if I meet Magolor face to face.
The hologram nodded, but didnât respond verbally.
âThank you, Nyx.â
Now Obby returned his attention to console, which now displayed a panoramic view around Skyrebrand. He wanted to get a good look at the Lor as she approached.
â>Alright. In that case I will do that now.â
Seeing as the other ship was slowing down, Lor began pulling up to the Skyrebrandâs portside, her starboard side next to the other ship so that they were both facing the same direction. She was surprisingly accurate at maneuvering for her size, courtesy to her advanced technology allowing her to have almost perfect control of herself.
â>The rendezvous is finished.â
"I noticed.â
Magolor was thinking of what he should say; he did want to ask about those blueprints, definitely, but it would be very suspicious to start a conversation with that. Besides, he should at least try to get acquainted with the other pilot first.
Skyrebrand's only immediate similarity to Lor was its size. The ship appeared very much patched-together, although in remarkably good shape considering such. The portside had three small guns in it, which appeared to all be able to slide down a railing toward the bottom of the hull.
The most onvious difference between the two vessels was shape. In stark contrast to Lor's elegant boatlike design, Skyrebrand appeared more boxy and pointed, like a larger version of a typical fighter from an old sci-fi movie. It had no visible wings, but it almost looked as if part of the hull could fold out into a pair.
"So, how exactly to we plan to get from one ship to another? I have a door on each side of the ship, but it's not easy access through space."
