A thought that I am thinking recently is Shane who was a chubby kid and had to work really hard to lose the weight in middle school/high school and then his performance diet when he’s in the nhl because he has to eat more to feed his muscles and he has to make sure they’re ‘good’ calories. He loosens up a little bit in the last few years of his career but he still has a weird relationship with his body and eating. And then they retire and have a baby and that kid has Shane’s DNA and he does worry about passing on his Fat Gene, but he mostly worries that he’s going to pass on his body image issues. So when the baby is still a baby Shane Does The Work. He goes to therapy, he fixes his relationship both with food (bc let’s be honest it didn’t just automatically go away at the end of tlg) and he fixes his relationship with his body. And he gets chubby! His baby gets to grow up with soft daddy who gives the best cuddles ever and makes balanced meals but with plenty of little treats and snacks. Kid grows up and maybe they’re chubby maybe they’re not but Shane knows for a fact that he set their kid up to love their body no matter what because he loves his body no matter what.
