Poison list
While it's important to approach writing with creativity and imagination, it's crucial to prioritize responsible and ethical storytelling. That being said, if you're looking for information on poisons for the purpose of writing fiction, it's essential to handle the subject matter with care and accuracy. Here is a list of some common poisons that you can use in your stories:
Hemlock: Hemlock is a highly poisonous plant that has been used as a poison in various works of literature. It can cause paralysis and respiratory failure.
Arsenic: Arsenic is a toxic element that has been historically used as a poison. It can be lethal in high doses and can cause symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, and organ failure.
Cyanide: Cyanide is a fast-acting poison that affects the body's ability to use oxygen. It can cause rapid loss of consciousness and cardiac arrest.
Nightshade: Nightshade plants, such as Belladonna or Deadly Nightshade, contain toxic compounds that can cause hallucinations, respiratory distress, and even death.
Ricin: Ricin is a potent poison derived from the castor bean plant. It can cause organ failure and has been used as a plot device in various fictional works.
Strychnine: Strychnine is a highly toxic alkaloid that affects the nervous system, leading to muscle spasms, convulsions, and respiratory failure.
Snake Venom: Various snake venoms can be used in fiction as deadly poisons. Different snake species have different types of venom, each with its own effects on the body.
Belladonna: Also known as Deadly Nightshade, Belladonna contains tropane alkaloids such as atropine and scopolamine. Ingesting or even touching the plant can lead to symptoms like blurred vision, hallucinations, dizziness, and an increased heart rate.
Digitalis: Digitalis, derived from the foxglove plant, contains cardiac glycosides. It has been historically used to treat heart conditions, but in high doses, it can be toxic. Overdosing on digitalis can cause irregular heart rhythms, nausea, vomiting, and visual disturbances.
Lead: Lead poisoning, often resulting from the ingestion or inhalation of lead-based substances, has been a concern throughout history. Lead is a heavy metal that can affect the nervous system, leading to symptoms such as abdominal pain, cognitive impairment, anemia, and developmental issues, particularly in children.
Mercury: Mercury is a toxic heavy metal that has been used in various forms throughout history. Ingesting or inhaling mercury vapors can lead to mercury poisoning, causing symptoms like neurological impairment, kidney damage, respiratory issues, and gastrointestinal problems.
Aconite: Also known as Wolfsbane or Monkshood, aconite is a highly toxic plant. Its roots and leaves contain aconitine alkaloids, which can affect the heart and nervous system. Ingesting aconite can lead to symptoms like numbness, tingling, paralysis, cardiac arrhythmias, and respiratory failure.
Thallium: Thallium is a toxic heavy metal that can cause severe poisoning. It has been used as a poison due to its tastelessness and ability to mimic other substances. Thallium poisoning can lead to symptoms like hair loss, neurological issues, gastrointestinal disturbances, and damage to the kidneys and liver.
When incorporating poisons into your writing, it is essential to research and accurately portray the effects and symptoms associated with them. Additionally, be mindful of the potential impact your writing may have on readers and the importance of providing appropriate context and warnings if necessary.

Quick note that most snake venom doesn't really do much if it's ingested. You would need a lot of it or to have a scratch in your mouth or stomach where it can access the body easier. The venom is meant to be stabbed in the prey through their fascinating syringe like teeth.
But if you like put the venom from a common european viper (Vipera berus) on a dagger and have an assassin stab someone with it... That would work.
The wound will be painful and the cells that came in contact with the venom will start dying. The character stabbed will most likely die of sepsis caused by the cells dying and the tissue necroticing as the venom isn't all that lethal for healthy adult humans, but you should go to a hospital if you do get bit by a spicy friend. Snake venom makes for a bad poison if you dump it in tea, but when it gets stabbed in, then it becomes fun
Also, PSA: Never kill snakes, not even the venomous ones. They control harmful pest populations for you, and are more scared of you than you're of them.
Yeah, living together would make it a bit easier... though how in the world do you fit over 60 people into one house? Madness.
Some folks just don't know when to quit having kids, I guess! Maybe that's the real reason the number keeps changing whenever he tells it. My folks on the other hand decided seven was maybe more than enough for them, haha.
Yeah, that sounds pretty standard—looking after younger siblings when ma's busy, I mean. I sure hope you weren't ever responsible for all 40+ at once, though. I've had to look after my four younger siblings all at once before and that sure was enough of a handful, I can't imagine looking after ten times that!
Oh, well... we're extremely rich. Our estate is huge and can hold a BUNCH of people, both my family and our servants. So space isn't really... as much of a concern? I do think this is probably the most crowded the Asim estate has ever been though.
That's my suspicion, honestly! Not that I said this, but I feel like my dad cares... a little less about his family, and a little more about, uh, having fun outside of business, if you know what I mean. He always told me to learn to work hard and play hard and learn which time calls for what and then I think he chose he'd rather play hard, haw haw.
Oh, no, I never was. There was at least some planning there, and there were always people to help there. I liked being more personal with them though and making sure we all got along, you know? Fratricide is... something very common in the family and the more I could cut down on the possibility of that happening, the better!

Holy shit
Man, and I thought Y'shtola having 12 sisters from different moms was a lot. How does he have time for all of 'em?
Honestly? I don't know. I mean, we all lived together, so that's not an issue, but I feel like there's probably some sort of schedule at this point. I know he definitely doesn't have time for all of his kids! I don't see or talk to him that often! Which is probably for the best, really. I know my mom gets priority over everyone else though, as his first wife.
You'd think that since he's (probably) paid the pomegranate's tithe of children he'd stop, but no.
I used to end up doing a lot of looking after all my siblings - which I didn't mind! - when their moms were busy. It's just a lot to handle, you know?
@witchofthescions said: That is absolutely WILD. Out of curiosity, how many siblings did you end up with?
I ended up with 47! A 48th's on the way!
My dad has. So many wives. I have 23 moms.
So, in the Scalding Sands, there's this little tradition people do when they're pregnant and want to see how many kids they'll have. You draw a circle and you drop a pomegranate and however many seeds land outside the circle, people say that's how many kids you're going to have.
Most people don't really take it that seriously. Most people just do it for fun now more than anything.
My dad... is not most people.
So he and my mom do this when they're pregnant with me, right? Or, rather, they make Jamil's parents do the pomegranate dropping. And no one really knows what happened - maybe this was just a really fragile pomegranate, I don't know - but a LOT of seeds fell outside the circle. It practically exploded. We don't really remember how many seeds fell outside the circle because the number changes every time but it's ALWAYS more than 40.
And I guess my dad took that as a CHALLENGE. He was like, well, we can't argue with the pomegranate! I'm going to have ALL OF THESE KIDS or I will DIE TRYING.
Luckily for Jamil's parents, when THEY were pregnant, they just dropped the pomegranate and got two seeds and were like okay, we don't have to produce so many kids, you can't argue with the pomegranate Master Asim!
Which I'm a little amazed he respected, honestly, but for all I know he could've just been busy having so much sex.
I have a cold so I'm not going to classes today who wants to hear about why I have so many siblings.
Btw when someone says "don't talk to me like that, I don't know you" the normal thing to do is apologize for the perceived overfamiliarity and correct the behavior. Just in case anyone was wondering
Insane to me that this is actually controversial. I'm silencing notes on this one bc I don't want to see them anymore

this is for a part-time job as a barista
I FORGOT I LITERALLY HAVE A DRUMSET I COULD BE USING TO STOP THINKING.
I should probably stop mentioning that I've been poisoned plenty of times but I already confessed to regularly taking doses of poison to build up immunities so...
@lastcompact said: Do you do cooking? Could always beat the crap out of some dough.
I do cook! I made a point of learning to because, well, the food other people give you isn't always safe, you know? So it's better to learn to do it yourself.
That honestly sounds like a good idea... I might try baking something that takes some time and effort and a LOT of throwing some dough around. I'd sure like to be able to focus when I go back to classes tomorrow.
Hi by the way, it's nice to meet you!
Hour 21. I'm still very angry and genuinely do not know what to do with it.
Sorry this is all I've been doing today, I'm just so... I've never been so angry for myself in my life.

Difficult Person Test
Tagged by @cecaelia-auditor!
I feel like some of these questions are... a little unfair if you do legitimately have a life that puts you in a lot of danger. I'm a little surprised this test put me as 'easy to get along with', all things considered...
I don't really have anyone I want to tag. If you want to do it, go right ahead!
I feel a little better, I told a few more people about the situation, the people have agreed unanimously that this was a load of shit and that I should go with my first instinct and just avoid this person for the rest of my life, because I shouldn't see things with people expecting to have a decent time and end up crying so much for so long I feel like I'm going to throw up.
