Camps for French Learners: Crystal Carousels

Inspired by the excitement of amusement parks, campers will create an indoor midway replete with games, prizes and carnival treats. In this program, adapted from our Crystal Carousels camp in English, activities in drawing, painting and sculpture will be merged with language lessons designed to build participants’ French writing and speaking skills.

Camps for French Learners: Paint-tastic

Paint to your heart's delight! Inspired by our summer exhibition, campers will experiment with an assortment of watercolour, tempera and acrylic paints on specialty papers and canvases, creating a suite of paintings in both abstract and realistic styles. At the same time, participants will have the opportunity to improve their French speaking and vocabulary skills through hands-on language activities. This camp is based on the Paint-tastic program in English.

Spend the week making your own animated movie. Participants will build characters and props out of modeling clay, fabric and other bits and bobs, then hand-build miniature sets for them. Campers will photograph their characters acting out different scenes, then learn how to edit their photos in iMovie to create a real stop-motion animation. Join us at the end of the week for a special screening complete with popcorn and lemonade! 

Intermediate Summer Art Camp: Book City

Intermediate Summer Art Camp: Book City

Escape to Book City, a world where art and the written word collide! Participants will learn a variety of techniques to elevate stories with illustrations, to make art with comics and scrapbooks and to otherwise combine images and text. Campers will have access to a rich selection of books and materials, then make a project of their choosing, whether bookbinding with paper and thread, embroidering fabric pages and sewing them into a soft reader, or making an edition of artist multiples with silkscreened prints. We'll wrap up the week by creating tote bags to cart our new print projects anywhere we please.
