#NYUCarlyle’s Themed Engagement Floor, Serve the city led by RA Sarah Rose got to explore Brooklyn Grange.Residents had the opportunity to reflect on their environmental footprint and sustainability, while also making their own gelato on a bicycle.

Noenoe K. Silva is a Hawaiian author and scholar. A professor of political science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, her work has appeared in Biography, American Studies, and The Contemporary Pacific. While still a doctoral candidate, Silva was instrumental in rediscovering the Kūʻē Petitions, which had been presented to the United States government in 1897 in an attempt to halt American annexation of Hawaii. The petitions formed part of the basis for her book Aloha Betrayed: Native Hawaiian Resistance to American Colonialism, an examination of Hawaiian language accounts of the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom. In 2006, Silva received a Katrin H. Lamon Fellowship from the School for Advanced Research to continue her research along similar lines through building a database of Hawaiian authors. Silva also contributed to A Dictionary of the Hawaiian Language, an updated reprint of the first Hawaiian-English dictionary.  

This past Sunday, twenty-five residents from #NYUPalladium went on a VIP tour of #NBCStudios with #NYUFFIR #RichHendler! They saw the studio homes of shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and Saturday Night Live. Throughout, they were given the opportunity to ask any and all questions we had in mind. Afterward, they went to Jacque Torres for the city's best hot chocolate and Starbucks and Lady M for some other drinks and treats. It was another wonderful #FFIRRich experience!

#NYUFFIRS Dean, Heijin, Mike and Dave helped students get in touch with inner Lebowski. 

A huge round of applause to #NYUFFIR Robin Nagle for hosting a Sci-Fi Book Club at #NYU3N. This event was popularly described as the “best session yet.”

Thanks (but not thanks) Giving hosted by #NYUFFIR Olivier at #LafayetteHall gave residents the opportunity to watch We still live here, a documentary about the amazing Wampanoag Language Reclamation Project. The group then led a thoughtful discussion, reflecting on the tradition of Thanksgiving.
