“well i don’t know about that. i mean have you met yourself? i’m in the presence of the greatest war hero of his time, after all. it was touch and go for a while, but you’re growing on me,” she teased in return, arms immediately moving around his neck. she tapped the side of his head, playfully adding, “don’t let it go to your head, though, hot shot.” kate had never been the touchy-feely type, never having a strong desire for public displays of affection, but being with garrett changed that aspect of her and being in his arms suddenly felt like the most normal thing in the world. his touch was comforting and even the smallest of touches put her at ease, though that probably had more to do with how protective she quickly became over him, despite him being more than capable of taking care of himself. “it’s certainly long overdue,” she agreed, “though it should be easier now that we’re not confined to such close quarters.” they had always been such an open family, always very much in each other’s business even if they didn’t mean to. she had grown used to it, but she soon realized why carmen would often go off with eleazar alone. “neither am i,” she hummed in response and there was a reverence in she said it, as if she would rather die than let harm come to him, and the distance quickly closing between them. “i quite like that idea, actually, experience all of washington’s wonders. why, are you asking me on a date, garrett? i’m the one that should be flattered here,” she grinned playfully.
“you know just the right words to my heart kate.” he hummed happily, listing to his mate. “oh I’ll try my best not to get a big head about it.” he remembered before meeting kate, making fun of his old friend carlisle for having a mate. he thought it was a waste of time, something to hold you back from having an interesting life. meeting his own mate though changed his view on that completely. he now knew that not only was his life still filled with adventure but that now he had someone like kate by his side it only made everything ten times better. “hopefully but let's go soon and we can explore Seattle, the art museum there has an exhibit as well over medieval artwork that could be interesting.” the vampire didn’t just like war history but really anything that had to do with history in general. It was interesting to him to read and learn how people viewed what happened in the past compared to what he knew really happened. “why yes I think I am asking you on a date, I mean unless you say no then no I was not.” he teased his mate, scrunching his nose playfully at her.
