She always had everything under control. Always. Her feelings, to begin with: she was often called a bitch because of the cold and detached demeanour that characterized her relationships -- of whatever kind they were. Just one person had managed to unfreeze that silver lining of ice wrapped around her heart, and that was her best friend Chris. Just one, until she met him. The most unexpected encounter of her whole mortal life. Who would imagine to meet the Mad Hatter ( the actual one ) and find out that he isn’t one bit the same old man depicted in the book by Lewis Carroll? And who would imagine that a tiny, little human being from London, a thief, would fall in love with him? He managed to destroy the blanket made of ice that she was so fond of and take her heart in such a short amount of time...
And he changed her, so deeply that it almost scared. Almost, because another side of her was thrilled. She loved him, yes, but she also hated to love him that much. Like he was the only reason why she breathed. That brought her to worry about his life everytime they ended in a dangerous situation: he always said he would’ve protected her, but risking so much for her made her also mad.
So, that one time he decided to play as the decoy to let her hide away from a handful of bad guys witout even asking her, Caroline instinctively felt angry: so angry that she would have punched him. And that was she wanted to do, until he showed up with that disrespectful smirk of his... Then, she was as surprised as he was for her own reaction: she kissed him. Hard and with a passion that almost wasn’t hers.
