North West Lady Fly Fishers

Vee’s delicious victoria sponge cake with a cream and lemon curd filling went down a treat this afternoon. She claimed not to be a baker but this is clearly evidence that Vee’s been flying under the radar with her baking skills. She has really set the bar high with the first bake of the season.

We had a grand day out at Kilnsey today for our first meet of the season. As always, we were made very welcome by Stuart.

Several of our group were unable to make it due to illness, and post op convalescence and other commitments but a dedicated group did make it, dressed in several layers of thermals. The weather stayed dry and there were even moments of sunshine.

13 & 14 February     –      British Fly Fair, Stafford

23 April                      –       Fishing Helwith

24 September          –       Fishing Helwith

1 & 2 October           –       Fly Fest, Reghed, Penrith

22 October                –       Fishing Kilnsey

We hope to add pop up days throughout the year and these will be arranged at short notice.      

We  formed North West Ladies Fly Fishing Group during 2011 with the intention to get ladies to fly fish together at various venues and feel comfortable fishing in the company of other ladies. Several events have been  organized during the last 4 years which were well attended and were enjoyed by the participants.

If you have never fly fished before and fancy having a go then please get in touch and we will be happy to help you learn this fantastic sport in a totally relaxed atmosphere.  

We met for our last outing of the season at Kilnsey Park.  In total we landed 47 trout up to 8lb. A good time was had by all.

Everyone caught fish – including the trout equivalent of Lazarus who rose again and made a valiant escape attempt. Cath had other ideas! She had plans to introduce that fish to her new fitted kitchen!

As usual, we gathered for a tasty lunch and a good chat.  It’s always good to get to know our newer members.
